Hi, I needed to update my linux boxn running a older Zope installation with Zope 2.1.1. It uses some products that are no longer available. The distrubution now includes python 2.1.1 which does not seem to work for Zope 2.1.1 z2.py, line 216 import os, sys, getopt, string ImportError: No module named os Is there a way to get Zope 2.1x work with python 2.* or do I need to install a python 1..5.2 just for the old Zope? zope.org slow

www.zope.org is sometimes too slow. I noticed during the last weeks, that zope.org responses very slowly. Have others the same experience? Are there mirrors?

Go to zope.org and locate the ODBC DA. Then look up the documentation (with examples) in chapter 10 of The Zope Book, which is viewable there. hello, If somebody hasn't mentioned this already, I'd like to point out that there are two articles in the February issue of "Dr. Dobbs Journal" having to do (explicitly or implicitly) with Zope Corp. Congratulations! This goes a long way towards making Zope more visable to the average programmer whose head is stuck in M$/Sun/&c muck. Keep up the good work! best Sean

How about using frames? Have a small frame that maintains an order status based per user. Basically when the page loads, determine who has logged in via the call: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('username', AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName())"> With the persons login details, determine if they have any orders in process via a Z SQL Method that returns a count(*) of some type. If the count = 0 then set the status to "You have no current orders." otherwise retrieve their order status via more Z SQL Methods from the database and place the details within the frame. The status frame doens't have to be big, just take a small part of the window so as you can put your information. It also means that it doesn't interfere with other operations, because once the frame is loaded, its loaded. The frame setup may be like: <framset rows="90%,10%"> <frame name="main_frame" src="main_page"> <frame name="status_frame" src="status_page"> </frameset> status_page may look like this: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('username', AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName())"> <dtml-with methods> <dtml-in check_current_orders> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('total', total)"> </dtml-in> <dtml-if expr="total==0"> You have no current orders. <dtml-else> <dtml-in retrieve_current_order> ... </dtml-in> </dtml-if> </dtml-with> Because the user has logged in, you're set. If you manage everything by user_id not username, then simply use a Z SQL Method to retrieve that. This is a simple but effective method that I've used quite a bit on website I've spent a lot of time building for an online gaming group. I've found it useful. ExtImage madness - upload fails from script (python)

I'm running zope 2.3.3 on redhat 6.x with ExtFile 1.1.3 (no patches) installed and working with PIL. Extfile appears correctly installed in the Control_Panel/Products list, and I can successfully add an instance from the ZMI - including creating the thumbnail. So now, I'm trying to upload from an image (actually, potentially several) from a form of my own. The form POSTs to a script (python) which does numerous other things, and then tries to do a manage_addExtImage(). Anyway, the upshot of submitting my form is that an ExtImage instance is added in the correct place but of zero size (in bytes) - i.e. none of the data actually gets added. However, to prove that I'm almost there, the instance does actually have an ID = filename_from_client_machine and title = path_from_client_machine. The infuriating thing is that I've had this working before, but broke it somewhere along the way and don't know when or how. Please... I'm tearing my hair out over this one. cheers tim
