Hello again. What´s the problem with my question? Is it very difficult? Nobody knows how to do it? Isn´t there any way to do it? Don´t you understand my english? I need an answer. Or only a feedback to say: "Ok, Antonio. I have read your e-mail, but I don´t know the way to do it. Try another way to do it!." Please, I need something. I´m becoming crazy. Thanks. automatic link-tracker/corrector

hello, the problem: we have many hypertexts with cross-references between them. now we want to migrate them from frontpage to zope. the question is: is there a product which can correct all the cross-reference-links in case of changing the folder-hierarchy? we don't want do edit all documents by hand... it must be a tool like "ms-frontpage"'s link-tracker-correction... updating all links in all documents in your web if you move a document or a folder? something more zopish out there??? i really wanna get rid of frontpage... so please don't suggest: use frontpage for changing the references...;-) any ideas? many thanks mjablonski.

Can not start 2.5b4 under W2000 after applying fix

Good morning, I installed 2.5b4 on top of an 2.5b3 installation and applied the fix as indicated. (point 6 of that fix is wrongly worded by the way). I can start Zope after applying point 2 and remove the session_data_manager object. When I then apply point 6 and restart Zope it dies while starting. Robert www.redcor.ch

What is getObject(IDstring) API?

This is a truly inane newbie question, but I haven't found the answer in several hours of doc searching and trolling the sources of various products. All those autocompletion IDEs must have made me soft :) I want to take two string parameters of a python script and convert them to object refences, so I can pass them to the mxmRelationship.Relate(obj1,obj2) function. Parameter List: student, course context.relations.relate( context.getObject(student), context.getObject(course)) This is an impractical script, but I just want something to get my feet wet. For now the objects will be in the same folder as the Relations object. I presume whatever the equivalent API to getObject is will take a relative URL path to objects as well?

Hi I use the "add_object"-method of my Zope-Objects to send this mail. When generating a new instance it checks if a subscription Object with the adressee list is present. If yes then it sends the emails with <dtml-sendmail> to the list. In my navigation I have a subscribe/unsubscribe button, which enters/deletes the own email in the subscription object. E-Mail notification subscription

Hi there, one of the features of commercial intranet/portal packages is e-mail notification. Basically you can subscribe to a 'category' or a 'folder' and you get mail, when a new document in this category/folder arrives. Sometimes the 'searches', which provide a list of new or added documents can be scheduled to run on a certain time of day in order to prevent 'mail storms' of notifications. I think, that I've seen a zope product, with at least that notification capability. But I don't remember which product it was (an I cannot find it with the search on zope.org) Any ideas which product that is/was? Thx. by Töns -- There is no safe distance.

ZWiki, bug?, Non-/, managers, can't, create, ZWiki's

Hi all, I've tried to report the problem below to the tracker at zwiki.org, but the tracker is broken. Let's just hope ZWiki developers read this list as well :) If a user has a manager role somewhere below the Zope server root, he cannot create 'ZWiki Web (orig)' instances. The ZWikiWebAddForm in the ZWikiWebs ZClass iterates over the folders in /Control_Panel/Produtcs/ZWikiWebs: <dtml-with "PARENTS[-1].Control_Panel.Products.ZWikiWebs"> <dtml-in "objectItems(spec='Folder')" sort=id> (..) The purpose of this is to list the available types (basic, original, zwiki.org, etc) However, you need to have a manager role at this level (thus at /) to be able to do this. If you have your manager role at /foo/bar, then this won't work of course. I fixed the problem by replacing the dynamic dtml with rendered html, and now everything works fine. WebDAV Locks / 2.4.3/ MS Office 2000

Hi, Right, I'm having fun'n'games with .xls files being served out of Zope 2.4.3 and accessed on computers with M$ Office 2000 installed. Basically, when you try and download the .xls file, you get an "Enter Network Password" dialog box. If you hit cancel, it usually opens okay but some users ahve reported machine crashes and the like. Now, through tweaking permissions, it appears the box is popping up 'cos Office 2000 is trying to: 1. open the doc via WebDAV rather than normal HTTP (how can make it not do this?!) 2. lock the file (ug! these files are anonymously accessible, surely they should not be lockable?!) Since Anonymous doesnt' have the WebDAV lock permission, it throws the dialog up. So, some questions: How can I make Office stop attempting to lock these resources? How many people can simultaneously holda WebDAV lock on a file? What permission controls whether or not they can edit the file? When do WebDAV locks go away? that'll do for starters... cheers, Chris PS: These files are supposed to be read-only, god knows why WebDAV is coming into play off a simple <a href=""> link :-(((

ANNOUNCE: An easier way to write products

It has long bothered me to no end that when I write Python based products that there was a lot of repeat code. Thus violating the DRY pinciple (Don't Repeat Yourself). Also it has been to difficult to get started with a new product, with too many things that had to be just rigth to get going. So you have had to take one of your old products an do extensive searh and replace to get going. Thats a bother. So I have made two simple classes encapsulating my best practices in writing products. They make it REALLY simple to get a product up and running, and has no penalty as such. One class is for making simple products with content. Like articles, user info, Issues, animal info;-) etc. The other class is for making ObjectManagers. They behave like an item, but can contain other objects. So it's folder like. I believe that this kind of functionality should have been built into Zope to begin with, as it would solve the beginner problems for 90% of the people trying to create Python products.
