Python Scripts and Homesite 5

I'm having trouble saving Python Scripts using Homesite 5. The scripts have no syntax errors; I can save the same scripts using zope's web ui. I had the trial version of Homesite 4.5.X and when I paid for Homesite 5, my ability to work with Python Scripts went away. What's the best way to turn on logging for Zope's FTP server and/or Homesite's logging (if there is any)? I've just looked for answers on Macromedia's website and didn't find anything. cron job in zope

Hi, is there a standard hook, to say to the zope server "execute the method Myproduct.mymethod" each day/hour/min ... Zope 2.5.0 acl_users encrypt passwords lock users out!

Using the property tab of acl_users, a strange behaviour occurs, which I could reproduce on Linux and Windows boxes. If you choose password encrypting and save all users in this folder get encrypted passwords and no one of these can log in anymore ... this seems rather fatal if the administrator thinks he could improve security but in fact just locks out the site members. Any idea? Urgently hoping for help.

Migrating standalonge applications to Zope

First of all I'll like to thank you all for all the info I got from this list in the past two months. I'm currently migrating a lot of standalone software I had made to Java and I REALLY don't think the complications that the language dictate help me at all. Thanks to this experience I resume my evaluation of Zope and I found out that this enviroment may be better for me to use. I realise that in Java I spend three to five times more effort that I did in Visual Basic (for example). Does anybody migrate/rewrite/build any "classical standalone" application in Zope (accounting, payroll, data acquisition application, etc)? How much effort did this took? I appreciate any comments. Creation of objects inside folder like products

Hello, I'm busy writing some folder like product with special features. The last thing I wanted to add is a TinyTable which is created when the the FolderProduct is created. The creation worked perfectly. Now I wanted to add a TinyTable instead of the DTMLDocument like product. Unfortunately this TinyTable will not be created inside MyFolder but inside the nearest (real) Folder object. For instance <Folder 1> -----------> <MyFolder 1> -----------> <TinyTable link_list> If I try to create <MyFolder 2> inside <MyFolder 1> I get: <Folder 1> -----------> <MyFolder 1> ------------------> <MyFolder 2> -----------> <TinyTable link_list> provided that I removed <TinyTable link_list> before or just moved <TinyTable link_list> from the first try just inside <MyFolder 1>. That means MyFolder could perfectly contain <TinyTable link_list>. It ist just not created inside the MyFolder object. The same is true for TinyTablePlus. Quoting from the source of TinyTable[Plus]: def addItem(self, id, title='', columns='', REQUEST=None): """Add a TinyTablePlus to a folder The argument 'self' will be bound to a folder. The arguments, 'id' and 'title' are minimal, and most applications will have additional needed arguments. please wait message or partial page display

Hi Zopeople, Is there a way to display a partial screen with a 'please wait' message? Then display the remainder or redirected screen after it is rendered? I want a message that tells users it could be 20-30 seconds before the next, complex screen displays. The example in the Zope Book (in advanced DTML) looks simple enough, but it doesn't display ANYTHING until the redirect is finished. The closest I could find was RESPONSE.write('a string'), but that disabled the following REQUEST.redirect and all the other HTML in the screen. I want a simple 'please wait' message or to show part of of page while the rest is rendering. Someone else must want something like this, or has done something like this. Ugly JS hacks incorporated: Making a web page that looks for the server.

This little script will try to connect to the localhost:8080 server. When it succeeds it will open http://localhost:8080/ . So, you don't get an error page if the server isn't started. It will just go on trying until the server is there, and then open the page. A script like this will be included in the distribution of our content management system. Now, how does this work? It's simple, it's ugly and it's almost funny. It loads http://localhost:8080/ into an iframe 1x1 pixels big, and then waits 5 seconds. Then it checks if the iframes location.protocol is http. And if it isn't, I try again. The thing is, that when IE5.5 succeeds in loading the iframe, the iframes location *does not have a protocol property*. Hence, if the fram *is* loaded, the test will throw an exception, in which case I open the page. *Tada!* I feel like sharing this horrible ugliness. Yes, I used _setObject. The object is created correctly, but without using the _setId method I can't get the id, although in the management interface of Zope the id appears. PersistentList is missing

Sorry if me or grep is blind but I can't find the class PersitentList in the sources of Zope2.5.0: cd zope/lib/python; grep -irs persistentlist * --> no result http://www.amk.ca/zodb/guide/node38.html and other sources tell me that there is something like this in ZODB. Has Zope just a subset of the available classes of ZODB? thomas
