Zope performing poorly after adding objects to BTreeFolder

I don't know if this is related specifically to BTreeFolder, or cataloging, but this is the problem... I added a BTreeFolder to a regular folder. I then added 13,115 DTML Documents to the BTreeFolder. I had added a ZCatalog and got it going, but the performance hit from the ZCatalog made me think twice about it so I deleted it. Unfortunately, some python process (related to Zope) starts running on my machine when I access the 13,115 records (if nothing more than to list them). I can watch the python process start eating memory (Zope normally uses about 8% on that system, but when the runaway process is going, it moves up incrementally to around 80% of memory according to top). I have to restart Zope to cure the problem. Unfortunately, I have to do this on a regular basis and it is becoming quite a headache. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Formulator, Python Scripts and Exception Data

I am trying to use Python scripts in Zope 2.3 to validate a Formulator form, however I run into a couple of snags: - Formulator raises a class-based exception FormValidationError, which I am not authorized to import TTW. - Formulator returns the error data with the exception. So, my catch22 is that in order to successfully catch the exception, I must use a bare except clause, which of course does not allow me to get at the exception data (AFAIK), since I cannot specify a variable for it in except nor can I import sys and get at it that way. So the following things don't work: from Products.Formulator.Form import FormValidationError try: ...validation stuff... except FormValiadationError, errors: ...deal with errors... -- or -- try: ...validation stuff... except: ...deal with errors, except there's no way to get at them 8^(... Poking through the source didn't illuminate any built-in trick to get around this. The irony is that I can use DTML to do this, since it is more forgiving about exception names, but I don't want to use DTML for this, it is not a template, just a validation script. 'id' name clash

I am working with a mysql database that has a field id. When that parameter is passed from my form via the CGI syntax http://some.url?id=1234 I cannot access it in my DTML method because <dtml-var id> returns the Folder name. Is there a way to selectively access the id parameter rather than the Zope var 'id'. Thanks, John Hunter

sending HTML-Mail with Images

Hi there! I'd like to send email from my webserver, using zope. this all works well, except for one thing I cannot figure out. I'd like to send HTML-Formatted E-Mail which include Pictures (embedded in the HTML). what I do looks like this :<dtml-boundary encoding=base64><dtml-var picture>. The probem is that all this will do is give me the picture as an attachment. I would need a way to reference this picture from the mails own HTML (Outlook express does ist like this: <img src="cid:something@mypc"> and add a header "Content-Id: <something@mypc>" to the pictures boundary. But I cannot do this because <dtml-boundary> does not support a "content-id" attibute and everything i add after the tag is base64 encoded, thus beloning to the picture! Is there any workaround or help for this problem? Thanks a lot Falk

Forms methods and IE 5.5

Hi, I have tried to use several buttons in the same <FORM>, with the following syntax : <form action="" method="POST"> ... <input type="submit" name="append_item:method" value="Add Item"> <input type="submit" name="index_html:method" value="Show list"></td> </form> This works fine with Konqueror and Netscape, but not with Opera or IE 5.5 : with these browsers, it's the current URL which is called when the second button is clicked. Does anybody knows where this problem comes from ? Is this a standard HTML feature which is not well supported by these browsers ? Is there any way to get this working correctly ??? Management Screen in constant view mode in place of normal contents mode

Hi I have somehow managed to set my manage interface in Zope to permanently display the index_html. I can give myself temo management access by FTPing to Zope and renaming the index_html. I suspect I have changed a security setting someplace in the root dir. Can someone suggest how to restore the management screen's contents thanks Greg

Loop throught empty list returned by python-script

Hello, a DTML-Method should iterate through a list which a python-script called "attributeDecider" is returning <dtml-in "attributeDecider(attribute)"> <dtml-var id> </dtml-in> this is the python-script: objects = context.objectValues('Folder') liste = [] for object in objects: if hasattr(object,attribute) and object.attribute: liste.append(object) return liste -->attribute is a boolean attribute and everything works fine except that "attribute" is false --> Zope is not rendering an empty page but it's trying to download the page when I click on "view" in the ZMI When I change <dtml-in "attributeDecider(attribute)"> to <dtml- var "attributeDecider"> Zope shows an empty list-symbol (like expected). Getting data from a file.

I have a text file loaded into Zope (2-4-3) as a File object. I want to "read" the file and do something with the information therein. Ideally, I would want to go through each line of data using a python script. However, the following doesn't work... import string lines = context.myFileObject.data for line in lines: # do something ...in fact, all it really does is make the Zope web interface act very slowly. The question is, how do you get at each line of text data from a File object. Anyone know how to do that (properly)? The alternative is to conver the input text data directly into XML and then have Zope import that. Is that possible? Is there a special way that you have to import it? Has anyone ever done that before (or is this worse than the above solution)? Cheers, Ron

Zope Error - Unthorised

Hi, My web site is running on Zope 2.3.1. I want to plug a spell checker into my site. I am using a simple python module that calls the ispell utility of Linux. Now I have written a python script to instantiate the main class file in the module. But when I try to access the methods in this class, the authorization window appears asking me to enter the user name and password. Authentication fails and I get a zope error that says I am unauthorised to use that function. I get this error irrespective of any function call.
