I really don't see what the browsers have to do with it and the answer that Dieter Maurer gave surprises me. Could someone explain it a little more? How to subclass plugin products in ZClass (zope 2.5.0x)

In Zope2.4.3 I can subclass a ZClass to the Photo product or the PhotoAlbum class. This I can't do in Zope2.5.0b3. When I try create a ZClass I can only subclass the buitlin products such as DTML Method, ZCatalog and so forth. Not Photo or PhotoFolder for example. Why? Is this a bug? Peter

While I don't use SQL data here, I can give you a complete example which produces PDF from Zope, there's a DTML method and an external python method. Download this from : http://cortex.unice.fr/~jerome/RLfromZope/ The DTML Method ensures that the PDF document appears directly in your web browser while still being saveable as "bulletin.pdf" The External method does all the interesting work, but of course not all of this is interesting for you. FYI this method produced printable inscription forms to a congress from a web form (still available at http://www.ipm2001.org/inscriptions/ while the congress itself is closed) PS: This code is under the GPL. Reportlab + External methods + SQL data

Hello all, apologies in advance for xposting: i've posted this to reportlab-users also... i've been trying for a while to get my head round making PDFs with Reportlab + Zope + SQL data, but the combination is beating me! i have a bunch of dtml methods which are displaying SQL data quite happily, mostly in HTML tables. i need to add a link to each method which allows users to generate a PDF file (loaded into browser) for printing, but i'm having real trouble with the external methods part. does anybody have any `real world' code they are willing to share to get me on the right path? any contributions welcome!!! cheers, Garry __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The mailer is Postfix-20010228_pl04release-1 running on the same host, and I've tried setting the mailhost item to hostname, localhost, loopback IP, and external IP with no change. On another note, the form seems to ignore any hints for sizing -- e.g., all the boxes come out the same size regardless of the col and row tags. Any ideas? blob and ZMySQLDA

I am trying to create a user interface in zope to a mysql database that has a BLOB entry. I would like the user to be able to specify a file on the user's filesystem, and put that binary file into the database. I am not sure how best to do this. Does anyone have an example of an SQL method or external method that takes a file from the users system and puts it in as a binary blob into and SQL database? Is it possible to do without first loading entire the contents of the file into memory? I first tried to write an SQL method INSERT INTO eeg VALUES ( <dtml-sqlvar id type="int">, <dtml-sqlvar eeg type="blob">, #this is no good <dtml-sqlvar description type="string"> ); But was not sure how to handle the blob type. This led me to believe that I would have to use and External Method rather than an SQL Method. Suggestions? Thanks, John Hunter
