Folderisch ZClasses import into 2.6.0 broken?

hi anybody successfully imported old 2.5-Objectmanager-ZClasses into the new Zope 2.6.0? with not-folderisch ones it's no problem, but it looks to me that the Folderisch Typs need the module Interface.iclass in it, and that's gone in 2.6. (a thread last week discussed that) until now it tried the following solutions: - edit the xml-export, remove the item with the bad module. but there are references to the removed item, and they don't like that. i tried to remove the references, but then the import fails because the datastructure of my XML-File ist now ...... Ralph had success with that. congratulations, i failed :-( - copy the iclass.py and supporting classes into the new instance well, that didn't succeed either. i guess that these old things don't play well with the new classes. - refactor the ZClasses into Python Products right, that i can do, but that will take time and probably break my old contents. an other ideas? somebody with an idea how to replace the references to Interface.iclass in the xml-export? gidon

Logging /error_log to disk?

ZCataloging an external site

Hi zopistas, I remember havin read some useful information on the zope ML about ZCataloging an external site (non Zope). But I can't find it any more. Perhaps I didn't search in the right direction. Any pointer about this ? Thanks in advance. --Gilles

Return ZPT with parameters

Hi everyone The situation is: 1. A pagetemplate, say listInstances, lists hyperlinked instances. A hyperlink has the form http://foo/instances/1. 2. Clicking on said link takes one to ZPT editInstance. 3. ZPT editInstance has a submit button, name btnOK:method. In method btnOK I eventually return ZPT listInstances. However, listInstances does not display the new instance I have added. My code is currently: A) return self.index_html() This does work: B) return self.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(self.index_html().absolute_url()) The problem with B is that I cannot pass parameters to the ZPT (I need to do this, but this is beyond the scope of the question). To summarize: I would like to use A and have ZPT listInstances display the newly added instance. BTW I use ZPatterns. Universities on Zope

I am interested in talking with people who have or are developing Zope-based solutions for Higher Education institutions like Universities. I am currently working with Oregon State University (USA) to explore how Zope might be appropriate at the institution-wide level. We are currently comparing Zope with other CMS products. My clients at OSU are particularly interested in: 1. How easy it will be to train non-technical staff to manage website content. 2. How well Zope will scale to hundreds of websites with hundreds-of-thousands of hits/year. I am familiar with the Zope literature on scalability and enterprise/clustering using ZEO. sort catalog results w/ table headers ?

hello, here is my situation... I would like the headers of the table containing the results of a catalog query, to be reversable sorting. I'm not sure i'm clear, but just like in the FileLibrary example given w/ zope 2.5. I studied this example and tried to modify it to suit my need but... As it always starts a new query i get a new results sorted. Say I have a result from the Catalog from a complex query... when I sort w/ the headers I loose my filter, all records comme back. I don't know how to keep the parameters of the query (session ?) As well, I need a default query to apply (the last 20 modified) Everything works fine, but this. I am not very familiar of the new TAL language... at the moment I still develop mostly in DTML & python scripts. I think, I have a very standard situation, but found no info about that in my books, or the zope book, or the last 10,000 messages of this board.... any help appreciated

Hmm... wonder if ZC's PageDesign technology (http://cvs.zope.org/Products/PageDesign) will have anything to do with a Zope ESI story? PageDesign is a technology for composition of multiple media assets into a composite document (like, multiple widgets onto a page). This seems to be the kind of situation where you would have deferred assembly of the composite page from its pieces via ESI at the outside of the proxy layer (the client connection layer, where th Squid ESI patch code would live) - with tunable caching per slot. Just a guess as to one direction this might be taken... I have recently started a new job, and my first assignment is to upgrade currently dormant system which is in zope 1.10.2 (source release, python 1.5.1, linux2) to the latest version and I see that this week the latest became 2.6, I had never even heard of Zope before Tuesday, so I've been looking into it and found some documentation on installing and upgrading Zope 2.x and Upgrading to 2.2.0 (final release). Would this cover from 1.10.2 , or is there more help needed and if so where could I find the needed information. Steffan G Bowen

I'm building a distributed job queue. I want to build a python program that hits an external with some parameters, and is handed back some files to be processed (ie rendered with povray) and then hand back the results.
