Hi all! I would like to do a simple page navigation in my DTML Method. So I have <a name="Top"> and few <a href="xxx#Top">On Top</a> The question is what should I write instead of "xxx" to make navigation working without page reloading? Thanks.

I can't use RESPONSE.redirect, that I know of, because it does not return control to the originating zope page it was called from after executing. I've installed ZCGI, but that doesn't seem to facilitate cgi scripts on a different machine. I've tried a simple python script which imports urllib and then try's a urlopen, but that didn't work either. Has anybody had to solve a similar problem or know where I'm going wrong ? ]] I like external Python methods for that kind of thing. There are a few things to beware of, though (not specific to external methods). First, the call for each row will have to complete before the next one starts, which will probably be very time consuming. To avoid this, you would use multiple threads in an external method. But even then, if one of the sites does not respond for any reason, its thread will not return (or it may have to wait for a long timeout, like minutes in some cases). You will not be able to complete until all threads return, so you can still get long delays. To avoid this, it would be possible to write code to test a site first to see if it responds, (you may have to get a special socket library that can be interrupted if it is hanging - I know that at least one such library exists for Python) but of course it would be more complicated. To sum up, you can make this work with external methods but you should see if you can come up with some way to avoid the need for going to a site for each row. Can you cache the data, for example? Hello Shad Your point 1) and 2) are correct, it look like this is normal behaviour. The zope site is so useless for the documentation that you can not find a product by using his name in the search field. Do a try with 'localfs' for example. You better have to try google. My poor advise would be to keep it simple, try to do it without complicated stuff (also without products with version like 0.001Beta) . Dtml is good (in my opinion) because it still work in the next version, that's not all the time the case with user products and/or complex things. Hi, I am still having problems. I have set Use mailhost services to anonymous manager owner and my new role auth_app. Under the mailhost security, I have "acquire permission settings? set and the other options unchecked. Even though I have logged in the call to the sendmail routine prompts me again for user name and password but it does not accept it. METAL macros

Hi, I'm trying to create a split heading on all my pages. In plain HTML, it would look something like this <h1>Site Name<br /> <span class="tl">Tag line</span></h1> The purpose of doing this is that I want to control both the fonts and the spacing of the lines, via a CSS stylesheet (if I use a <h1><h2> or similar combination, the lines are too far apart). So I created a 'master' page template with the following macro: <h1 metal:define-macro="heading"> <span tal:content="template/sitename">Title</span><br /> <span tal:content="template/tagline" class="tl">Tagline</span> </h1> If I test this template, it looks exactly the way I want it. So I tried to use it in another template as follows: <h1 metal:use-macro="root/master/macros/heading">Title and Tagline</h1> Unfortunately, when I try to test it, I get this not very helpful message ... Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Undefined I've been using Zope for about a month so the traceback information still looks like gobbledygook to me. I tried the following variation: <h1 metal:use-macro="root/master/macros/heading">Title<br /> <span tal:content="root/master/tagline">Tagline</span></h1> but that still gives the same error. At this point, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if this is something that is not supported by the current implementation. Any suggestions or comments will be welcome. Joe

again no start script on netbsd

So I uninstalled the older versions and upgraded to zope-2.5.1 and python21-pth-2.1.3. Now I can run the make_start.py without any errors except for the fact that a "start" script does NOT get created. Anyone know where it should be? I updated my locatedb and still couldn't find it. Using a Python script inside a dtml-tree - repost

I would like to use it also in the framework of a dtml-tree, in order to order to apply it successively to each object reached through the tree and displayed as a menu item : <dtml-tree> <dtml-var my_python_script> </dtml-tree> Of course then, "context.REQUEST.PARENTS" is not good as it applies to the main object being called, not to the successive objects which are being retrieved recursively through the dtml-tree.
