You might also take a look at JRedirector, which sticks redirection code at the top of standard_error_message to send you to the redirector. It can give you a pretty 404 message if needed, and redirect old urls to new paths. Pretty slick product. I like it. JRedirector: http://www.dataflake.org/software/jredirector Oh, and I'll note that you shouldn't follow the README.txt directions exactly. In order for the needed dtml code to display in some browsers, Jens put spaces between the less than sign and the dtml tag name. That misunderstanding cost me several dozen hair follicles and more time than my pride allows me to admit! standard_err_message ques... repost

Hi, I posted this about 4 days back but did not get a resolution or any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong. I was trying out the suggestions regarding custom error handling mentioned @ http://www.zope.org/Members/JohnC/StandardErrorMessage and put a simple <dtml-if "error_type=='NotFound'"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(errors.e404.absolute_url())"> </dtml-if> at the top of my standard_error_message. Unfortunately when I try to hit a non-existant page I do not get redirected to the error page, I still get the Debugging Notice.... blah blah blah If I put a <dtml-var error_type> at the top I do get the NotFound at the top of the error page. Why is this not being handled.?? WebDav - Win2K problem

Hi all I'm having a weird problem trying to use Zope WebDAV with Win2K / IE6. I've seen others with similar but not quite the same in the archives. I create a connection in 'My Network Places'. Everything looks good initially, I can copy objects in both directions but when I try to download the same object a second time I get a Windows popup titled 'Error Copying File or Folder' and text 'Cannot create another system semaphore'. Uploading multiple times works every time. Zope is on port 8080. I also have WebDAV running on Apache with mod_dav on port 80. That works well with the same Win2K client. This had me thinking it was a Zope problem but ... I can connect to http://zope.org and download objects from the root multiple times okay. This points to my particular Zope installation. I get the same result with two different servers running Zope and two different Win2K clients. Zope Version: (Zope 2.5.1 (source release, python 2.1, linux2), python 2.1.3, linux2). Any ideas? VHM, ZClass double entry - desperate

I'm desperate. ZClass instances generate doubled entries in ZCatalog under VHM. ZClass inherits ZObject, CatalogPathAwareBase, ZObjectManager. The first set of entries is created through Find Objects ZMI tab. These entries display absolute path in Object Identifier column, but they return correct, i.e. relative to VHM root, path through ZCatalog.getPath(). That's ok. The second entry gets created because of the following line in index_html DTM Method of ZClass: <dtml-call "propertysheets.data.manage_changeProperties(readers=readers+1)"> This double entry displays relative path in Object Identifier column and in ZCatalog.getPath(). Not a problem per se, but every instance is recorded twice in ZCatalog, and that's the bummer. If I remove the line above from index_html of the ZClass, double entry is not created. If I put it back, double entry is created. It would seem that the problem is isolated. Therefore I tried to replicate the error with a fresh ZClass: - create product p - create zclass z, with CatalogPathAware - create folders a,b,c anywhere - add propertysheet ps - add property display(int) to ps - add method index_html which call nethod inc_display - add method inc_display - add ZCatalog Cat - find objects of type: 'z' - run index_html and see if double entry is created. Result: double entry is not created. I'm unable to reproduce the problem on a fresh ZClass. The original ZClass is so complex that it would take many hours to decompose it. DateTime DST query

Hi all, I have a DateTime related query for the Zope experts :) I am currently displaying the time period between two dates in the following fashion: <dtml-var "_.DateTime('2002-06-01 00:00') - _.DateTime('2002-05-01 00:00')"> This generally returns a nice round number i.e. 31.0 days for the above example. My problem occurs when the two dates bridge the DST boundary so: <dtml-var "_.DateTime('2002-11-01 00:00') - _.DateTime('2002-10-01 00:00')"> would return 31.0416666667 days which is perfectly true but not a particularly nice way of showing a user - to whom the extra hour due to DST is neither here nor there! Ideally I would like to be able to check if the DateTime object has a DST offset, then add the extra hour to it - thereby ensuring that I am returned a more rounded number: <dtml-var "_.DateTime('2002-11-01 00:00') - (_.DateTime('2002-10-01 00:00')+(1.0/24))"> then returns 31.0 days. Is there a method/attribute of the DateTime object that returns a flag telling us if a DST offset is set on the object? how to download big files using zope?

Hi! I have some big files (about 500 MB) in the filesystem on the server and want to make them downloadable. I could do something like this, but it loads the file into memory: <code> def manage_download(self, REQUEST): myfile = open('myfile.bin', 'rb') filestring = myfile.read() myfile.close() REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-type', 'application/data') REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Disposition', 'inline;filename=myfile.bin') return filestring </code> Is there a way to just pass the file through? Export/Import problem (...object broken doesn't...)

Hi! I am a beginner in this Zope world. I am having a problem and I could't find the solution searching the MLs archives. I have exported a folder from my company Zope environment and I am trying to import it to my home one, but all I get is: The object broken doesn't support this operation The error stack ends with: path/CopySupport.py line 373 in _verifyObjectPaste Copy Error: (see above) Each time that I import/export from/to the same machine I don't experiment any problem, so I don't understand why my home Zope thinks that the company zexp contains broke object(s). Does anybody have a clue on what is going on? Thanks! Sara
