I understand and have used this successfully. The problem is that I have a lot of DTML pages which I'd try to avoid rewriting to page templates. But I'd also try to avoid to duplicate code in the page template and the standard_html_footer/header.

FTP/WebDAV editing in version (proposed interface)

I would really love to edit zope objects via FTP or WebDAV within the version. I know that it is possible to hack z2.py this way, but this is unelegant and troublesome on updates. And ... there is in Zope similar problem with perfect solution: changing URLs and VirtualHostMonster. And one could do almost the same. Would be really nice if editing ftp://my.zope.site:8021/_Version_/SomeVersionName/some/document or even ftp://my.zope.site:8021/SomeVersionName/some/document changed /some/document withing version SomeVersionName (created on the top Zope level). Similarly, for the versions on the lower levels: ftp://my.zope/site:8021/somedir/SomeVersionName/some/document Would it be hard to be implemented?

Hey, IT'S WORKING! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, EVERYONE!! I decided to turn my firewall program back on since I wasn't getting anywhere with Zope. Then I did what Joel instructed in the original message below. The moment I hit return after the command string, a lot of Zope info showed up in the command window AND the firewall program asked me if i wanted to allow python.exe to access the internet. After i answered "yes," I tried to access the zope manager and it came up!!! Here's a synopsis of the entire situation: Zope V 2.4.3 Windows XP IE 6.0 Unable to access Zope control panel/manager at the following urls (Browswer says "Page cannot be displayed"): - http://localhost:8080/manage - http://127.0.0.1:8080/manage - http://joplop-alpha:8080/manage (joplop-alpha is what showed up after requesting localhost info in a command prompt) Unable to access Zope QuickStart at following urls (Browswer says "Page cannot be displayed"): - http://localhost:8080/ - http://127.0.0.1:8080/ - http://joplop-alpha:8080/ First installed it as a service, didn't work, uninstalled it. Reinstalled it as manual start-up, didn't work, uninstalled it. Reinstalled it as a service, not currently working. Opened command line and typed: c:\Program Files\WebSite>start.bat -D This triggered Zope to start and now it's working. I'm really excited about getting to use Zope at home. Hello again! After reading the many informative and helpful messages regarding my situation, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and decided to get some p2p help. Today at work I asked my boss for help and he was glad to help me. Since Zope is installed on windows NT there, he went through many settings and areas with me, showing me things to try when I got home. Now that I'm home, here's what has been happening: By means of the Services panel, I found that Zope wasn't started on my home machine. After I clicked 'Start' a progress bar filled then disappeared. Then a pop-up window told me: "The Zope service WebSite on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts Service." The only option the window gave was to click 'OK.' I clicked 'OK' and changed the startup type to Manual. After clicking 'Start' the same thing happened. I changed the startup type back to Automatic. I then opened a command line and typed in the following: netstat -an and found nothing on port 8080, 8021, or 8090. I think that's because Zope wasn't started, but I'm no wiz at this. Then I ran start.bat and let it sit for twenty minutes hoping some of the advice about windows taking a long time to start Zope would prove pertinent to my situation. It didn't change from my previous screenshot (http://lunamanium.com/startbat.gif) The questions I have now are: a. Can I force Zope into doing some work so windowsXP doesn't stop it automatically? If so, how? b. Would changing the port Zope is supposed to run on help at all? c. Would upgrading help? My boss told me about the page template feature and it sounds very intriguing so I may upgrade anyway. d. Is there hope for me and Zope? Thank you all very much for your kindness and your assistance. Using ZSQL Results in python: "dictionaries" property doesn't exist

Hi all! I am trying to use the "Results" variable returned by any ZSQL method in a python script, as shown in this how-to: http://www.zope.org/Members/spinwing/ZSQL_Results . The thing is I can access Results.names() and Results.data_dictionary() as shown in the examples there, but not Results.dictionaries(). It says that the property doesn't exist. Any ideas? Jean, Figure I should be a contributor to this list once in a while, and that's an easy one... Problem is that CountCrew used in expr="" is a reference to the method, not the result of calling it, so what you really want is CountCrew(), and actually, since ZSQL methods always return sequences, CountCrew()[0]. You're right, Dieter, I'm using ZODBCDA. So now, to solve my problem I need to do do one of these two things: 1) Solve the bug in ZODBCDA, which I don't think I am capable of. Could you or anyone give me some help on it? 2) Use whatever ZODBCDA uses instead of dictionaries (I suppose Results returns the records in some field with another name). Does you or anyone know the name of the field ZODBCDA uses instead of dictionaries? Or is there a way to know the properties or fields of an object in Python? If there is, then I would use it to get the public properties or fields of the Results object and then I could try and see which of them holds the records of the query.
