Use Page Template to emulate standard_html_footer and header

Is there a way to split up a page template, and define both standard_html_header and footer as page templates which use the other template. I've tried the <metal:block define-macro="header"> and relevant for footer, which should kindof work, but when I try to save the master template it says that some of my tags aren't nested correctly. This kindof makes sense, because I break the nesting to be able to get the "header" of the template. The reason I would like to now this is because I have some DTML documents which need the standard_html_header, and it would be boring to have to duplicate the work I've done in the template into another DTML-document. Any help appreciated... -- Robin

Hi All: I'm using the package ExtFile/ExtImage, when I place a file over 5mb on the server and then download it hoses my system. Can I place files on my server and link to them thru Zope as to not make my zope database grow to a huge size? Thanks, Todd

creating instances of products "programmatically"

Hi, I've got a Product question that I just haven't been able to answer using the documentation I can find. I've developed a Product called RDJM_JobImpl following the general procedure in the Developers Guide. The product class is defined so: class RDJM_JobImpl(Implicit,Persistent,RoleManager,ObjectManager) I've got enough stuff working so that I can add the product from the manage screen and the guts of the product itself work swimmingly. What I'd really like to be able to do is create instances of this class programmatically (either through scripts or DTML methods or whatever) instead of through the management interface. This I cannot figure out how to do. Pointers to the appropriate documentation would be greatly appreciated. Planning a zope application: maximum size, performance issues

Hi, I'm currently working on a recruitment processing system that aims to handle both applicant submissions and the management of the process by HR staff. The intention is to use a ZOPE-only solution with Zserver, ZODB (no external DB), Zclasses, and we have a successful prototype running (yay!). An important issue for us is how many applicants a single ZOPE server instance can handle, and what the total number of applications that a single instance can store, without suffering severe performance impairment or instability. This is important for doing forward planning (i.e. how long before the need to buy another server, split up the recruitment campaigns onto separate ZOPE instances etc.) I know its not a simple issue - there are considerations of how large an individual item is, how much processing an application requires once its submitted to the system (quite a bit) and how its all coded (mostly Python scripts called as methods on ZClass isntances) etc. But that said, are there any metrics that can be used to get some ball-park figures? ZCatalog: Possibly corrupted Date Field Indexes in Zope 2.3.3

Hi all, We have just experienced a strange phenomena in the ZCatalog of Zope 2.3.3. Everything seems to work alright except for searches using range:min, range:max and range:min:max on field indexes indexing dates. Using ranges on field indexes with dates result in empty result sets. To solve the problem we just had to remove the ZCatalog, re add it and re index all items. The it worked perfect again. The web master for the site claims that the error occurred sometime during the night. (This might be a false observation from his account.) Anyway, undoing all transaction one day back past the supposed "event" that might have triggered the corruption didn't solve the problem. So I wonder: 1. What could have happen? 2. Could it be that something not of Date type had been indexed? 3. How could I investigate what did happen? Is there any logging capability that might trap this kind of failures? (I'm currently waiting for a CD with all log files and the corrupted Data.fs.)
