Filesystem Directory View - limited choices

I'm trying to add a filesystem directory view object to the root folder. My only choices for "directory" are all subdirs of "Products". The directory I want to use exists under the Zope install directory (alongside Products). Choosing one of the choices and changing it later in the properties section of the filesystem object results in no objects found in the folder. I'm new to Zope, and trying to work thru some of the examples while also applying them to real world type scenarios. One of the examples in the Zope book builds a navigation method, as follows: <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('DTML Document')"> <li><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a></li><br> </dtml-in> </ul> If each of the documents that this returns is a structured text document, how could I have the output formatted properly when the user selects a link?

Zope et navigator.platform

Hello, For some programs I need to know in which platform the client works. I did, until now, with the Javascript code : navigator.platform, to have the knowledge. I want to do the same under Zope, but without, if it's possible, to ask the client with Javascript. In Zope we have HTTP_USER_AGENT I've tried HTTP_UA_OS, but nothing return !! Xron Issue

I have two Xron issues that I am seeking assistance with: 1. I am getting the following error when the email_reminder_job gets triggered by the Xron scheduler. I also included a thread with Loren for additional context below the events.log contents as well. Anyone have ideas on what I am doing wrong? The event is scheduled for 5:30 AM EST, 10:30 AM GMT. It looks like it tried to run but got a bci.NotAvailable with a connection refused error. I have the admin folder secured but set the job up with manager, owner, and authenticated proxy rights. I also made the security rights not be acquired, but allowed all rights to the manager, owner, and authenticated users. After the job gets triggered and fails, it says it fails to disarm the event but the event disappears when I click on the schedule object in the ZMI after the job fails. 2. I recatalogged this morning at 5:56 AM which causes a conflict error and the dispatcher thread to die. Not sure what the conflict is unless it relates to the fact that I have another folder (http://www.iresolve.com:8080/iResolve-tim/admin/email_reminder_job) an XronDTMLMethod object with the same name. The second one is for testing purposes and is currently turned off. I renamed the second one and recatalogged again with the same error. I am using ZEO if that matters. It indicates that the socket that Client.py uses to fire a scheduled method is not working. That would be a system-depended problem. I would try: 1) tracing with PDB, starting with the dispatcher and following it into client.py, to see if there's any obvious reason the connection is not working. You can uncomment relevant trace statements in Xron code. 2) making a little Client.py application to try to isolate that problem. There's a How-To on that subject somewhere on www.zope.org. That may be the cause of the errors that show later in the log. In any case, Xron won't work if Client.py doesn't work. Client.py is a standard part of Zope that Xron calls to simulate a client request for the Xron DTML Method. There used to be a problem using it with port designators in the URL, but that problem was fixed in an earlier version of Zope. Still, I haven't upgraded to 2.4.3, so I can't testify that Xron works there. You should copy these messages to the zope(a)zope.org list. Maybe somebody there has prior knowledge of the problem. But no HTML-encoded messages are allowed there. timeout

Hi, one of my reports takes more than 5 minutes. This causes Zope to produce a timeout. Although it is no good idea to let the user wait that long, I would prefer to show a result anyway. How can I set the timeout? Thanks Ulrich

Strange behavior with FTP multi-homing.. not!

Hello, I have this problem with FTP that maybe someone can help me with.. I have a multi-homed Zope v2.5 site on Redhat v6.0, and I've made the root non-anonymous so customers that logged-in via FTP does not see others-account-website directory. Since FTP does not seems hooked-up to use VirtualHostMonster, everybody must pass by the root and then cd into-their-own-directory. When I FTP-in I have this weird behavior that I cannot explain myself.. the first time I go: ftp> cd /MySite I get: 550 No such directory. then the second time: ftp> cd /MySite 250 CWD command successful. then I go: ftp> ls 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,11,15,135) 550 Could not list directory. and the second time I pass the command it works!! ftp> ls 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,11,15,136) 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list d--------- 1 Zope Zope 0 Feb 4 22:33 .. This baffles-me.. every second command passes but the first fails. Where is the state machine that makes a command not pass throu the same path two times in a row? Anybody would tell-me where to look for? The exact internal error seems to be 503 instead of the advertised 550 one. I'm using LoginManager for acl-users and it seems the first command does not hit my acl-users at all but the second does. oh well, if I define my ftp roles for every domain on the top folder, it seems to resolve the problem.. but then it gives-me a security tabs page of 1MBytes to manage all over the place.. so, I would prefer to use local roles. for sure.. Also in the same vein, while I'm at it.. I have another problem with my setup.. let say I have: / site1 www site2 www With my virtual hosts pointing to the www level. Customers can go like: www.site1.com/site2/www and they kind of "can" the other's customer's site!! How can I block "inheritance" in this case? Thanks very much for any comments, suggestions..
