Hi! Zope suddenly dies with dumping core.. It seems that problem in Garbage Collecting.. Is there any way to understand that is it my fault or python bug? Python 2.1.2 and Zope-2.5.0 with hard use of External Methods and CoreSession Best regards, Andrew P.S. Core file in attachment

*Help* Multiple Session datamanagers = problems?

I'm running a Zope 2.3.3 site where I have created an object that generates a web interface towards a SQL server database. It wraps, amongst other things, a Session Data Manager. These holds user information if you are "logged in" into the system (not logged in into zope, that is, but into my system). I needed to have two of these objects in the database, but this seemed to cause an interesting problem: It seem like the two session data managers invalidates each other. I.e, when somebocy logged in using session data manager A, suddenly persons using session datamanager B was logged out. It got better when I moved the session data manager out of my application objects, and instead only have one, further up in the hierarchy. Unfortunately, other parts of the site also use a session data manager, but with another name, which I suspect is the reason that I still get logged out sometimes. So I wonder: is this the case? Is it in Zope 2.3.3 possible only to have one session data manager, even though I'm supposed to be able to have any number according to some article I read. Or must each session data manager be accompanied by a session id manager? Right now I only have one, in the root. *Help!* /Lennart

OFS object attributes from a SQL DB? (ZPatterns)

Hi all, I'm trying to create a Folder-ish ZClass that has certain attributes which are actually linked to data that lives in a SQL database. I know I could just use methods to access the data, but I'm trying to gain some ZPatterns foo, and it seems to me that I should be able to get this data to be exposed exactly as though it were just a regular attribute on a PropertySheet. I'm having a hard time finding the magic combination, though... As I understand ZPatterns, these folder objects should be DataSkins, with DataManagers that would fetch and store the data where appropriate. However, if I try to create a ZClass with both OFS:Folder and ZPatterns:DataSkin as base classes, whenever I try to add it somewhere I get a Key Error for "_v_dm_". Can anyone help me discover the "right" way to use ZPatterns to make a persistent Object File System type of object transparently mingle attributes from PropertySheets, SQL Methods, etc.? I know that I'm close... I just can't quite wrap my head around it... Thanks, -r

Zope object database capabilities

Greetings, I'm not sure whether or not to use an external database (mySQL) for my site. I can envision, for example, having a folder, 'reports', that contains 100,000 reports. Each report is either a folder or a dtml-document with a 'client' property. I would use some dtml to go thru all of the reports and list those that belong to the currentClient: <dtml-in "reports.objectValues()"> <dtml-if "client == currentClient"> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> Or, I can do this using mySQL. If Zope's database is capable of scaling this large, I'd rather use it. Any thoughts? Thanks, Steve

I stopped ZEO, renamed the log file, restarted ZEO and checked the logs several times today. The problem seems to be gone now. I will check again later, but looks like restarting did the trick. title property bug (zope 2.5.0)

Hi all, It appears that even though you can delete the title property from a folder you cannot add it again. I came across this when trying to debug a duplicate property id error. Say you have called this python script from the current folder: #Delete all existing properties context.manage_delProperties(context.propertyIds()) You can then check the current folder "Properties" and indeed the title property is no longer listed. However you can't add it again: context.manage_addProperty('title', 'test property value', 'string') return This error results: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: Invalid or duplicate property id Unfortunately I am no longer able to add a title property using the Zope management interface either. Interim workaround seems to be: never delete a folder's title property. How do people suggest I recreate the folder titles that have already been 'deleted'? BTW I've run fstest.py and the Zope database is still fine. Thanks, Adam

Question Regarding Unauthorized Logins And Custom Error Messages

I am trying to make it so that my Zope installation brings up a custom error message if a person cannot log into it successfully. I have tried putting in the standard_error_message, but it seems that this type of error is beyond this as I still get a site error screen? Is it possible to have Zope show something else?
