passing a dtml-var to another method: dtml-let has no effect?

Thank you all for your answers concerning ``forms: copying ...'' message ! Using the following in a document: <dtml-let x="'foo'"> <dtml-var x> </dtml-let> I get the expected "foo" in my document. However, if I try: <dtml-let x="'foo'"> <dtml-call sqlDistinct> </dtml-let> where sqlDistinct is a ZSQL Method having an argument with the name x, I get a KeyError. I have also tried to have the variable x defined from the start of my document, say with the value "bar". In this case, with the above portion of code, I get no error, but sqlDistinct uses the value "bar" for x and not "foo". In fact, I want to set the variable x many times in a document and call for each value of x the sqlDistinct query, so I need to change the x variable in my document. What should I do? Zope as a CMS on top of Weblogic Portal Server

I am looking at using Zope as the content management system on top of Weblogic's portal server. The benefits would be immense (Not having to teach JSP to content people alone would be heaven). In order to do this however I need to be able to import the Zope modules into python scripts I plan to execute from Jython. Is there a good reference to using Zope modules outside of Zope? I'm having a little trouble finding out what I need to import to get what class etc. (read: I'm pretty new to python as well). Thanks in advance -Matt

Automatic form generation

Hi I have been experimenting with ZClasses, and I like the way you can add property sheets containing Strings, dates etc and have a data-input form automatically generated for each instance. However, it seems a little bit limited. For example I can't specify that I want a string, maximum of 50 chars, and a required field. Is there a product available for this sort of thing? Generating emails with multiple attachments

hi to all, I've googled & egrouped, but could not find an answer... I want to send an email with attachments with the <dtml-sendmail><dtml-mime><dtml-boundary><dtml-var>-tags. It works well if I send an email with one or more "hardcoded" <dtml-boundary>-blocks. My problem is: I want to iterate over a folder and send all files as attachments. But mixing up <dtml-mime ...> <dtml-in ...> <dtml-boundary ...><dtml-var ...> </dtml-in ...> </dtml-mime ...> does not work ("unexpected tag error"), because <dtml-boundary> seems to be a blockContinous-Tag. Is there any reasonable way to do this with <dtml-in>, <dtml-mime> & <dtml-boundary>? Maybe with nested <dtml-mime>'s ? Thank you for an advice... User Authentication

Hi, soon I have my examination and I must program a product and I will program it with Zope. And for my product I need a User Authentication, I can use the acl-user folder but I must have the e-mail address of the registered user and with the acl-user folder I don´t get the e-mail addresses! Is there an another way? I won´t use CMF I need only the Authentication with E-Mail Address. Thank you for the Answers! :) Regards Steven

Zope-Error: Object of type "None" is not callable

Hello to you all! I have a pretty confusing problem :-/ I wrote a product called GMSBericht for publishing news. I started development on zope-2.4.0, and continued working on it through 2.4.2, 2.4.3 and now 2.5.0. The product is refreshable so I don't have to restart the server when I change the python code. Somwhere in the 2.4.2 time zope started to behave strange. When I refreshed my product I was unable to create new instances of it any more. I had to restart the server to be able to create new instances of GMSBericht, until the next refresh. As you can imagin, this makes development rather painfull. And I never changed it since the first version of my product! (Note: My product never had an __init__() function, so "handle=GMSBericht()" executes no code of my own) But after switching to 2.4.2 the described problem appeared and never vanished with 2.4.3 and 2.5.0. I found an old version of my product on my first 2.4.0 installation. I started this server again and tested the behaviour after a refresh, and no error occured. After this I copied the very same source code from $OLDSERVER/lib/python/Products/GMSBericht to a new installation of zope-2.5.0 and the error described above appeared. Then I tested it the other way arround. I took the newest version of my product and copied it to my old server installation, and no error occured after a refresh of my product. Finally I made a new installation of 2.4.0, installed my product (new and old version) and tested the behaviour after "refresh" and no error occured. Unfortunately I need the new features of 2.5.0, so can't just use 2.4.0 (This wouldn't be a real solution). Has anybody encounterd the same problem, or is this a known zope bug? Can anybody help me? Ok I have one more question... When setting up a wrapper, the example I'm looking at uses: <dtml-var "_[page_body]" fmt=structured-text> How would this be coded in a ZPT format?

search term in results page

possibly simple, but I don't know how (without using javascript): is there a way to insert the search term, which had been entered in the search form, on top of the results page (like: "you searched for 'search term'; x results have been found") via dtml? thanks for any hint lambert

getPhysicalRoot and <Special Object Used to Force Acquisition>

Hi Inside a Python product, I tried to access another object this way: self.restrictedTraverse('/Folder/Object') This worked fine until this evening, when I got an error 'Object not callable' The error was on Traversable.py, function unrestrictedTraverse, line 166 (Zope 2.4.3 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.0, win32) self=self.getPhysicalRoot() When I printed type(self.getPhysicalRoot), I got: <Special Object Used to Force Acquisition>' (what's that???) This was for a while, I tried several ways to circumvent this problem, and I was happy when I found something that worked fine. But when I tried the original code again to post here, it worked fine (as usual!) and now type(self.getPhysicalRoot)=type <'Python Method'> (as should be, I guess) I swear I didnt change anything but a few lines on my product!!! Nor even restarted Zope, just refreshed my product. And it's my own local install, so nobody else was working at the same server. So I don't understand why it began to fail, and why it suddenly was working OK again... Gabriel Genellina Softlab SRL
