VirtualHost Monster

Hi all, I'm trying to setup a virtual host monster to handle localhost. I've setup the following rewrite stuff from the zope site's advice at http://www.zope.org/Members/Jace/apache-vhm : <VirtualHost *> RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*:80$ RewriteRule ^/(.*) \ http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [L,P] </VirtualHost> I also created a folder under the root folder called localhost and added a virtual host monster to the root folder. Going to http://localhost/ shows me the normal Zope Quickstart Page. It doesn't display the index_html from the localhost folder. Going to http://localhost/localhost/ does show me the index_html contents. Any idea what I'm missing here and what needs to be done so that going to http://localhost/something displays /something from within the localhost folder in zope ? ZCatalog question... possible bug

I'm using ZCatalogs and I seem to have come upon either a bug or a feature that I'm not liking. I have these three items in cataloged: /company/101578039896 /company/101578039896/101578056020 /company/101578039896/101578050712 Each is a folder with properties. The first one has a property called latestRevision. The second and third objects don't have the latestRevision property. When I add a meta_data column (latestRevision) for the catalog, all three objects get the latestRevision property that the first object has. (In other words, it seems that the 2nd and 3rd objects are inheriting properties from the folder above them.) It doesn't seem like it should work that way. Any ideas? --andy.

Is there any Microsoft SQL Server native driver for Zope?

I'll like to migrate my JDBC driver source code to Zope in order to use a native Microsoft SQL Server connection (using TCP/IP) but I don't want to start from scratch. Is there any Microsoft SQL Server native driver for Zope (pre-alpha, alpha, beta, etc)? I looked in Zope website and the only thing I found is a ODBC Database Adapter. TIA, Nicolas.-

Default Permissions

Hello again: I have set some permissions over differents methods and I have assigned default permissions over different local roles with setPermissionDefault: security.setPermissionDefault('get_user_path',('MyRole',)) At this point all works ok, but when I check the "Security" tab in that object the local roles appears, but this default permissions assigned doesn't appear... In my tests with MSWord 2000 (9.0.2812) and Zope 2.5.0, I have this more regular behaviour: after I have modified a document if I reopen it (after a very short time), it is read-only, if I close and reopen it, everything is ok. WebDAV, Zope, M$ and implications...

I was just talking to a BEA representative who also happened to do some consulting at a company I used to work for. This representative mentioned to me that my former employer (who is one of the biggest supporters of the Zope corporation due to a HUGE array of zope and ZEO servers, support contracts, consultants, etc...) just dropped Zope because of a management feud over WebDAV and M$Office support. I have not been able to confirm if this is true, but it sure had an impact on my current boss. If you know about BEA's Portal Server, it uses the WebDAV protocol to connect to any content management system. They provide an API which is supposed to connect to any WebDAV compliant content management system. He dropped this remark in a meeting with my boss (after I stuck my neck out and supported Zope as a good choice for managing our content). I have already written a connection pool and library for pulling zope content over an HTTP connection directly into our JSP pages. I'm using Zope 2.5, and I think that my former employer wasn't, so this may no longer be an issue. I need to know all about Zope, WebDAV, Microsoft office WebDAV and if Zope and M$ work friendly over that protocol. How stable is the zope DAV support, etc... I'm not under fire yet but I fear that I may soon be. P.S. I would also love to grab the names of any Python developers with extensive Zope experience who want to work potential contracts in Knoxville, TN. They could come in handy later when our implementation goes live, helping me get up to speed on some features, etc...

I must be missing something in the API reference, but how do i get the current Epoch timestamp in a dtml call (Prolly from DateTime() but how?)

MSword-webdav question

Hi all I have Zope 2.5 (started with option: W -9800) on win2k and Office XP. I can open/read/modify MSWord documents via WebFolder, but if I open-modify-save-close a document, and then I reopen it, it appears read-only and only after some time I can reopen and modify it. Can anyone help me to understand what happens after I modify a document the first time and why it remains locked for some time and what unlock it? Michele
