ldad module on FreeBSD

Dear Sir, Because most of the python module package for FreeBSD depend on python2.2, so the package will install under python2.2 folder not python2.1, then Zope couldn't use it. :-( Even I tried to make a soft link to the module folder. Anyone ever try to install the python module (ldapmodule) from FreeBSD package, then could be called by LDAPUserFolder successfully. Thanks in advanve. TerryH

Guess you misunderstood. You CAN create the role, in this case "db_user" at the level you want to have control of the user's access (as in "test" in your example) OR, in any level above that object "test", such as root level. You did it at root level , that is OK. Then, AT THE LEVEL WHERE YOU CREATED THE ROLE, "test" or "root" level as propper, get into the security tab and check the following permissios for the role "db_user": Access contents informations Use Database Methods View Optionally uncheck the same permissions for the Anonymous role -at that level in case don't want/need public access to that object. Well, guess this clarifies the issue. Bolding in ZPDF

I'm using ZPDF and was wondering if there was anyway you can bold words. I'm calling Python Scripts within a dtml method to format columns since ZPDF doesn't allow for tables. So Paul, what can we do and how. On my behalf I can provide this project with some insigths about the usability, information- and graphic design. For me it is a great part to learn how some more experinced zopistas work and also contribute in ways that I am really certain of my professionality. This is a hint that even though I try to graduate from a poly technic I do not spend my days writing solid code ,--) I also spoke with a talented ex Razorfidh Art Director, who couls give some of her efforts to help this issue too. But basicly this means that some others would need to take responsibility to implement the functionalities, while I can help with my collegue to set up the plans and interfaces for the new site. How does it sound? -huima

unpickleerror confusion

I was going through the example in the Zope Book (new riders) making slight modifications to the code. Trying to do the example of using a post method to create new dtml docs (using python p 84). Question regarding connection of an IDE to Zope

Hi all, In the quest to find an effective IDE for Zope, I've decided to look into adding a plugin for Jext, my current editor of choice. I've contacted the author of Jext, and he suggested I talk to some of the Zope developers about how such a plugin could interface with Zope. Unfortunately, I was unable to figure out who I should contact about this, or if there was already a page concerning an IDE for Zope. If anyone knows something about this subject, or has any pertinent links for me, feel free to email me. I'm not currently subscribed to this list, so I won't get any responses sent here. yet another how-to question

Here's my problem -- I'm using the ParsedXML product. I want to display, using the tree widget, a portion of the XML DOM tree. Now, the tree widget is controlled by a pair of methods, "branches" and "leaves". "leaves" is a DTML-Method called to render a leaf. "branches" specifies a method that generates a list of child note objects. In fact the default, tpValues is simply a call to the wrapped DOM to return the list childNodes. So, to control the output, I need to prune the list of childNodes to exclude the nodes I don't want to be included. The code for tpValues looks like def tpValues(self): retList={} for child in self.childNodes: retList.append(child) return retList Now, to decide whether to include a note or not, I need to look at the contents of the childNode, in particular, it's attributes. But how does one reference the child node instance to enquire about its nodeName, for example. The obvious approach child.__get_nodeName() fails in an External Method (the code is in the Python-level Extensions directory, not the Product's own Extension directory--is that a problem?). There are several layers of wrappers which complicates the problem. :-( There is the alternative "branches-expr" mechanism, but it appears to have the same reference questions. adventure: return tuples from python scripts

Hello, We tried to return a tuple from a function and had strange results The following advanced python-scripts (the scripts are inside the quotes) "return (1,2)" , "return 1,2", "return tuple((1,2))" all return only 2 while the next scripts "return (1,2)," and "return ((1,2),)" both return ((1,2),) But now this one: "return tuple((1,2),)" it gives 2 Is this correct? To us it is rather funny, because Python is doing this 'correct'. Alternate HTML Table implementation in STX

Hello, This question is motivated by attempts to maintain some tabular lists in Zwiki (v0.9.6 on Zope 2.5). I've noticed that HTML tables can be described in wiki's using an STX convention involving dashes (-) and vertical bars (|). Although this doesn't require HTML knowledge, it certainly requires skill on the author's part to get it right. For simple tablular lists of data, the extra flexibility of this convention is more of an obstacle. Does anyone know of simpler convention for describing columns of data? I'm thinking more along the lines of something like (now entering dream mode) <DTML-TABLE> Name; email; phone Joe Smith; js(a)nowhere.comm; 555-1111 Sarah Conner; sc(a)adomain.nett; 555-5555 </DTML-TABLE> which would render something like |-------------------------------------------| | Name | email | phone | |-------------------------------------------| | Joe Smith | js(a)nowhere.comm | 555-1111 | |-------------------------------------------| | Sarah Conner | sc(a)adomain.nett | 555-5555 | |-------------------------------------------| People have an easier time grasping the concept of editing comma delimited lists than using the ascii drawing skills. NT User Folder use and security

Hi all, I'm testing JC NT UserFolder (with Igor Leturia import NT groups) for my Intranet on my Zope 2.5b2 on win2kpro, and I have two questions: 1) I have created a NT User Folder with domain MyDomain, my NT domain, but the only users that I see in folder are the local users (my workstation administrator etc). Is it ok? Importing domain users in local users is the correct workaround? 2) The second question is about security: if Zope users login with Domain Password, these password go on the lan without encryption? If so, is this secure? I'm very confused about this. Thank you. Michele
