Session Mgmt. with Session Id Manager

Hi there, I've tried to use Sessions on my zope-site for authentication features... Is there any good documentation about the session data manager and the browser id manager. I've been searching the whole night but I've only found sql - sessionmanager, happy... etc. etc.... But I haven't found a good docu about the included one. (Even the ZopeBook doesn't tell much about sessions) cheers marc

setting default security permissions

I am building a python product. I am having trouble getting default security permissions to set. I am able to declare the permission properly, but the defaults dont work. I try the line security = ClassSecurityInfo() security.setPermissionDefault('View User Home', ['Anonymous','Authenticated']) security.declareProtected('View User Home', 'home') The 'declareProtected' works, but the 'setPermissionDefault' has no effect on anything. I have no idea what else I need to be doing. Tom

I've read all the howto's and I can't get it to work. What silly thing have I overlooked? I'm running debian testing. httpd.conf has: ---- begin httpd.conf extract ---- FastCgiExternalServer /var/www/swim \ -host localhost:9673 \ -pass-header Authorization \ -appConnTimeout 0 <Location /swim> SetHandler fastcgi-script </Location> LoadModule fastcgi_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_fastcgi.so ---- end httpd.conf extract ---- When I put http://localhost/swim in the browser I get a server error: [Wed Apr 10 10:55:08 2002] [error] [client 64.34.82.201] FastCGI: comm with server "/var/www/swim" aborted: idle timeout (30 sec) When I put http://localhost:9673/swim in the browser I get the correct page served by zope. Can I change the 404 page?

Hi, I've had a look through the Zope book shelf and I haven't been able to find out how to set up a custom 404 error page. Is this possible? And can anyone recommend a book on zope to complement the zope book shelf? Thanks Paul.

Renaming objects in the ZODB

I need to find a way to rename objects in the ZODB while Zope is not running. i.e. by importing and manipulating the ZODB directly. Nothing immediately jumps out at me from looking at the ZODB HowTo and other materials. Any pointers? regards, Sean

Line breaks...

Anyone have a reasonable technique for splitting uploaded files on line breaks? readlines will not work because the file might have a non-Unix EOL convention (e.g. Macintosh or DOS). well .. I finally got M2Crypto to compile (wrong version of swig) and when I went to install it is was wanting to overwrite stuff like /ZServer/__init__.py and whatnot so I cancelled out and backed everything up, thank goodness, because when I did let it overwrite them it destroyed the zope server. I tried everything to get this thing back up and had to fall back on the back-ups. It can't be THIS HARD to get a secure connection on Zope! Thanks for your input. wierd performance difference

I have a ZClass-product with two possibilities to add a new instance of the product: first: normal add through the ZMI second: through a customized versin, which is callable for the user via url. The form is a customized version of the product_add_form, which has a copy of the product_add as action, where only the redirect at the end goes to a different location. Now the weired thing: adding a new productinstance through the ZMI, takes about 20 - 30 seconds after hitting the submit button, and adding it through the customized version takes about 1 - 2 seconds !! In both cases logged in as the same user, who apparently has Manager rights. How can I find out, where Zope is spending its time ? This is Zope 2.4.3 on sun-solaris behind apache.
