500 error from windows only!

Synopsis: only windows users are getting a 500 error when they should get a login screen! I'm running a zope site and using the (deprecated but easy) Generic User Folder for cookie mode login (although that product may not be the issue). Many (all?) users from explorer on windows currently get a 500 Server Error when they get to a page that needs authentication. Users from any "normal" OS like linux or MacOS (9 or X) using either netscape, explorer or mozilla get a nice normal login screen. How is it possible the only windows users are getting the 500 error screen and might anybody have a hint re. how to fix this? There is nothing interesting in the logs. It would be helpful if you could be more specific about the problem platforms. Have you tried to use Netscape on Windows? If that works fine, then you can eliminate Windows from the problem and concentrate on Internet Explorer issues. If Netscape and Mozilla on Windows won't work, then might I suggest that you try to find out which versions of Windows are involved. Note, I've been able to handle Zope authentication using Win95/98/NT/2k without problems (in many cases using either Netscape and/or Internet Explorer). While I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, I am hard pressed to think that this is an IE problem (without more information). Cookie problem

Can anyone shed some light on this problem? I am working on a site where the screen is divided into a pair of frames -- a left index frame and a workspace frame. The left index consists of links which select pages to be loaded into the workspace. The target pages need to know the index that selected them. Workspace selection is many one. I wrote a small python script that takes a parameter, plants the parameter value as a cookie, and then redirects to URL1. The links in the left index frame thus look like <a href="some/source/setCookie?cookie=value" target=workspace B> The setCookie script is very simple request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE RESPONSE.setCookie('myCookie', cookievalue ) RESPONSE.redirect(request.URL1) The results are mixed. I constructed a little test case and have tried it on four different browsers. It works on some and not on others. All redirect to the right place, but some of the browsers don't set the cookie on the flyB. This is all running on a vanilla Zope 2.5 installation using Zope's native server. Wisdom and suggestions for a workaround greatly appreciated. Using this technique will greatly simplify the site.

All: When I use the below code instead of getting the value for $encryptedpass in the SET I get $encryptedpass. Displaying list of documents in sub-folders?

Hello, I'm still a newbie at Zope, so please bear with me as I read through the Zope Book and experiment... In the main page, I'd like to have a index_html DTML Method object display a list of documents that are located in sub-folders, eg. computers/, news/ The following doesn't work: <dtml-in expr="objectValues('computers/DTML Document')"> <tr> <td><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a></td> </tr> </dtml-in> Should I use a Python Script object instead? Any tip much appreciated Eddie.

Using standard_html_header to display banner

Hi, I've been checking out Zope by reading the Zope Book, and am stuck with something: I'm building an intranet to contain documents. Each document should have a banner to display the document's Title and a bitmap whose id is the document's title and ".png" appended. For instance, a document called "widget.html" will have a Title section called "Quick & Dirty Guide to Widgets", and the Image object displayed along the title in the banner should be widget.html.png . 1. Here's the standard_html_header DTML Method: <html> <head><title><dtml-var title></title></head> <body> <table border="0" width="100%"> <tr> <td width="70%"><h1><dtml-var title></h1></td> <td align="right"><img src="<dtml-var id>.png"></td> </tr> </table> 2. And here's the index_html DTML Method that includes code to display a list of sub-folders: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <table width=100% border=0> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')"> <tr> <td><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a></td> <td><dtml-var bobobase_modification_time fmt="aCommon"><td> </tr> </dtml-in> </table> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Problem: - If I use a DTML Method object for a document, <dtml-var title> in the standard_html_header shows the container's Title (!) instead of the document's Title - If I use a DTML Document instead, <dtml-var title> does show the document's Title as expected, but the <dtml-in ...> code is not run. Do you know of any easy way to let writers include a banner by just including <dtml-var standard_html_header> ? Thx a bunch for any tip EvH.

small (newbie?) problem using the binary upgrade to 2.5.1

Hello, I tried to use the Zope-2.5.x-to-2.5.1-win32-x86.tgz binary upgrade (from 2.5.0) I extracted the archive with Winzip, but this retrieved one huge python-like sourcefile without extension During the extraction i used "use folder names" to put the files in the correct places, but it doesn't seem to work out.
