Hi! I am looking for a simple Time-Sheet Product for Zope. I have found TimeTracker but I'd like to have fields for start and end time each day. Maybe somebody has created such a thing. Juergen

[ANN] Small fix for ZShell 1.4

Hi, ZShell 1.41 is now available with a small bug fix wrt history handling : an empty history (.zshell_history DTML Document) caused ZShell to break. This problem was mitigated by the fact that when creating a .zshell_history DTML Document, the default DTML Document content was there and ZShell knew how to empty it correctly. However you can now clear (history --clear) the history with no problem. A small modification was also made to reduce the number of bytes output by ZShell (usually almost 1/3), and documentation about setenv and unsetenv was clarified. folders with same names (newbie question)

First of all, thanks for your patience for reading this long post.......I posted it twice a while ago but had no replies so am trying again...... Our development site has approx the following structure: index_html - About | Guided Tour | Machine - Jobs - Beamlines - Machine | Parameters etc Inside each folder is a contents_html document. The index_html is at the root and displays this content under a generic banner with drop down menus (Javascript) with links to the top level folders and their subfolders. Local navigation is generated via a treemenu which generates absolute_urls. Does this mean that in Zope no two folders can have the same id? This would cause problems when our contributors edit their parts of our site. Is there a way around this other than naming the folders differently? I remember seeing something about tpId somewhere.... problem with "old" dates

Hello, I built a simple searchable image gallery using a ZClass and the default Catalog (zope 2.4.1). Gallery items have a field of type 'date' to store the image creation date. So far all the dates I've entered have been very recent (1999 and up). Then I added an image of a sketch done in August of 1957. It added fine, and reindexing the catalog caused no complaints. However, after that any gallery search that would have included that item in the result fails and returns a zope error. If the search does not return that item everything still works fine. If I change the year from 1957 to something recent like 1997 or 2000, it works fine. I haven't nailed down exactly what year it fails at because I'm hoping someone already knows... >From the traceback (last few lines included below) it looks like safegmtime in DateTime.py is choking on this date. The actual exception text in safegmtime says 'The time %f is beyond the range of this Python implementation.' I'm finding it just a little hard to believe that it can't handle 1957 correctly...?? I'm entering years as four digits (e.g. 1957, not 57). There appears to be a y2k patch in DateTime.py that just assumes 69 and lower is in the 21st century - not sure if that comes into play here but if so there goes anything before 1970. If pre-1970 (or whenever the limit is) dates can't be correctly handled as date types, do I have any recourse for "old" dates other than having to store the date as a string? I'm using 'date' because sometimes I want to display just the year, sometimes the month and year, etc. using the 'built-in' output formatting. And why no problem adding and cataloging the item? Postgres and BLOBS

Hi, everyone. I need to be able to store binaries (PDFs, JPEGs, etc) in postgres tables and embed them in web pages. The idea is I have entries in the database and there is an image to go with each entry. Postgres supports BLOBs, but there is a somewhat awkward interface to using them (you have to actually extract the blob to a file on disk). I was wondering if anyone had created an object (simlar to the Zope image object) that would let me reference binaries in the database without having to do local file manipulation? -- Colin Fox cfox(a)crystalcherry.com CF Consulting Inc. problems writing unit tests

Hi there, one of the methods I call from a unittest changes a property. When called from "normal" zope it works fine. When I call the same function from a unittest it breaks saying that URL1" is not defined. Here is the code I use. The first time (no property it) works fine. The second time it breaks if self.hasProperty('poolGroup'): self.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST = {' poolGroup':= group}) else: self.manage_addProperty(id = 'poolGroup', type='string', value=group) Setting the Property like this: self.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST = None, poolGroup = group) does not generate an error, but does not change it. Hi, I'm pleased to announce the long awaited new version of ZShell, the Zope Shell. ZShell is an external Zope method which allows you to manipulate the ZODB using standard unix shell's commands from within Zope's Management Interface in your web browser. ZShell is the swiss army's knife of the Zope admin, but care should be taken when giving access to ZShell to mere mortals... ZShell is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License, with no special restrictions since the ZPL was certified as GPL compatible by the Free Software Foundation. New features are : * Commands tid, dbconn, davlocks, printenv, setenv, unsetenv, echo were added. * Preliminary support for variables assignments works fine : you now have access to every variable from Zope's environment, plus every variable from the REQUEST object (as their string representations), either for reading, setting or using them. The syntax is the *nix shell $ one, here's an example of what you can do know : exec ls -la $INSTANCE_HOME/* another one : setenv --zope ZDAEMON_MANAGE=FALSE Needless to say that you use this feature at your own risk ! Searching Metapublisher instances...

sorry, if this is an stupid question: I created a search and a report method via the usual interface tab. In mp_catalog I indexed all MetaEntries. Doing a search (with any search item) however returns a list of all meta entries? Is there a clever way to do a simultaneous search in a folder having a bunch of DTML-methods and half a dozen Metapublishers instances? thanks for the help, regards Juergen P.S: Anybody knows, what happened to the metapublisher list, is it still working?

Global Editing

Could someone direct me to a tutorial or other resource that explains how to do a global edit of database records in ZODB? For example: someone has a number of entries and their email address changes. Would the records have to be edited one at a time, or is there a way to change all of the records in one operation? 2.3.3/1.5.2 and 2.5.2/2.1.2 on the Same OSX Box?

Hi all: I would like to have a version of 2.3.3 running on the same Mac OSX box one which I have my 2.5.2 Zope install. Is there a best way for me to set up 2.3.3 to run 1.5.2 as a special case so that I will be able to run then both on the box? Thanks in advance!
