Hi all, Due to a problem involving a hacker and our web server, we are going to be moving all of our users from Apache (~username) home pages into Zope - but the problem is, how do I redirect any entries from the original ~username to the new location, homes/username. Anyone done this before. How to use a ZSQLMethod from a Python Script

Hi! I want to call a ZSQLMethod from a Python Script. In Zope.org, I couldn't find a specific how-to on the subject, but accidentally I found some other how-to's in which there are examples that use ZSQLMethods from Python scripts. It seemed very easy, so I tried it that way: res = context.mysqlmethod() It gives an error message, 'resource not found'. Both the script and the sql method are in the same folder. Tiny Tables Plus's Constructor

I've been using TTP and find it meets my needs for a "not quite a database" sort of object. Up until now, I've created the tables using the usual ZMI management interface. Now I need to create, delete, and modify the tables programatically. I've don't quite understand the interface for the product. A little help would be much appreciated. As I understand Zope, a Product's constructor is registerd with an ObjectManager and accessed throught it, e.g., self.manage_addproduct['OFSP'].manage_addFolder(id,title) is the usual pattern for creating a folder. I looked at the TTP code. The constructor is addItem( self, id, title) but I've been unable to grok how the product has registered with an ObjectManager and under what name it is to be found. Where is the product-type specified in the Product so I can locate the proper ObjectManager instance to create new instances. I have tried the obvious'TinyTablePlus' key. It found an ObjectManager but the constructor 'addItem' was not found and so the constructor self.manage_addproduct['TinyTablePlus'].addItem( 'newtable', 'test') failed with a getattr error for addItem. I suspected it might be a permissions problem. I checked the permissions on the product panel and enabled all of the Tiny Table options (Add and Change). Truth be told, I am not sure what the impact of those permissions should be. I saw no change with my constructor problem... Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi! I'm a new user to Zope. I downloaded it about a week ago! I'm struggling to attach a file to an email. I'm creating an online questionaire whereby the answers that the user gives is put into a database. Now I would like the user to send this grl file to me so that I can analyse their answers. I've figured out how to modify user data and add new fields, but I'm unable to find the dtml file that CFM uses where new users can enter their personal data (where they enter their names, passwords, etc - I'd like them to enter some extended data in fields of my own)

problem with add zclass

i have create a new product with a zclass. but when i try to add a new instance of my zclass i always get the error: NameError: global name 'myName' is not defined i don't now whats wrong, i have do it how it is describe in many howtos on www.zope.org. thanks jan

Hi Ian, Thanks for the reply. I know it is early there and a Friday/Saturday and this can wait until Monday. I see that I need to call the record from an http address and this assumes the users have something between their ears. I need this query to appear on the screen for the users to enter. The project I am piloting is to move to web based forms for our factory employees to input data and if someone wants to review it pull up an existing record by entering for example "doc_number". The user will enter this and hit a submit button. The form outline is what they are familiar to and I need to work on this premise. I created the input form using dreamweaver. I added the dtml statements and sql methods. I can populate the database. I know this is old time stuff using a different environment. I am trying to move to a thin client out on the factory floor and eliminate buying software for each workstation. If I use my z sql query, the data is displayed in a table/record generate by "manage_test" form. I guess my question is do I need to script the query to return the record I am looking for and make a dtml call from the form? If I understand you correctly, you want to have a form that displays just one record on the screen? A very basic method would be to create one ZSQL method to get your item and one DTML Document to display it. So your SQL Method would look something like this <params>pk</params> SELECT CODE, DESCRIPTION, PRICE FROM MYFILE WHERE ID = <dtml-sqlvar pk type=int> Lets say that simple method is called sqlSelect Now create a form in the same folder and it will look something like this (untested) <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-in sqlSelect> My Code Is: <dtml-var CODE null=""> My Description Is: <dtml-var DESCRIPTION null=""> My Price is: <dtml-var PRICE fmt="%3.2f" null="0.00"> </dtml-in> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> If that form was called view_data you can call it with something like http://my.web.server:8080/view_data?pk=1 Which would display the data for the record with an ID of 1. You won't get may design awards for the interface though ;-) If you are putting the data back into the input fields you'd have just have stuff like <input type="text" name="iDescription" value="<dtml-var DESCRIPTION null="">"> hth Ian PS It's 2am here so forgive me for any mistakes above but that should drive you in the right direction.

syntax or namespace problem

Hi. I'm having a wonderful time with zope for the most part, but here is my snag. I can't seem to access a variable in the request called badsearch from DTML. I have a script named getCatalogpy that returns search results in a catalog, and if the number of results is too small, it sets a flag like so- (first) request = container.REQUEST request.set("badsearch","false") (then later on) found = container.np.phone.phoneCatalog() if len(found)>= mingoodsearch: return found request.set("badsearch","true") I can get badsearch from my Page Template for Results, like so. <body tal:define="results here/getCatalogpy; start request/start|python:0; searchby request/searchby; searchtext request/searchtext; badsearch request/badsearch; batch python:modules['ZTUtils'].Batch(results, size=10, start=start); previous python:batch.previous; next python:batch.next"> then it's used here: We find no matches. Here is the entire list. so far, so good. But I also have a results page for WAP/WML browsers that uses the same script. It's done in DTML because a Page Template has to be good HTML, which WML is not. I want something like <dtml-if "badsearch == 'true'"> We find no matches. Here is the entire list. </dtml-if> but Zope can't find badsearch. It must be in the request, because the Page Template can find it after the script. I tried request/badsearch and a number of syntax variations. Thank you very much for your assistance, Annie
