Hi I need to quote for a fairly big Zope site and I am trying to work out what sort of spec machine I will need for hosting. The brief is for a minimum of 50 concurrent users, rising to a possible 2000. They will be doing a lot of searching on the site, and there will be quite a lot of e-mails sent out by Zope. The site will also use an SQL database - either mySQL or postgreSQL. My current thinking is: - Linux: RedHat? - Zope with ZEO in case it expands beyond one box - Apache - Squid? - 512 MB RAM - 18 GB SCSI with RAID - 1.8 GHZ processor Am I along the right lines? Will Zope coexist nicely with the database on the same box or should they be separate from day one? Cheers Tom

I've written some code that programmatically adds a method to the ObjectManager class, but I want to secure my method so that not everyone can access it. How can I secure the method after the class has been registered? Thanks, Jeff

permission to do execv()

hi all: I'm a newbie to Zope. As my DTML doc called python script , a permission problem occured. I was prompted to key in username/passwd, but I had no idea which account I shall use. I used the function os.execv() in my script , but the function failed to execute because I was unauthorized. The following is the error message: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access execv in this context How can I get rid of this problem? Any suggestion would be appreciate ：）

manage_edit and manage_upload Image object

Hi all, I'm working on a product that uses Image.py as superclass. In the Image object are two seperate methods used: one for manage_edit and one for manage_upload. I want to merge the manage_upload method into my manage_edit method, so I don't need to use two seperate forms for my Edit form. I have a problem when I change the alignment of the object. When I now Save the Changes, the image data is lost. dtml-tree and python help needed, please! (again)

Hi! I wrote this same message some days ago, but I haven't received any answers and I'm quite desperate! I need to create a dtml-tree which obtains the branches from a python function. The best doc (well, the only one) I found is http://www.zope.org/Members/anthony/tree-coding-tricks , but I can't get to work the very same example the author writes there. I have tried two ways: a) writing his python code in a python script, but it says I can't define a class in a python script; b) writing his python code in an external method, but it keeps asking me for authentication and eventually says I have no authorization. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Has anyone succeeded in doing this, that is to say, building a dtml-tree that obtains the branches from a python method? Restricting editing to creator of document?

Hello, I have currently implemented a custom workflow in zope using DC Workflow 0.4.2. I want everybody who logs into the system to be able to create documents. I want only the creator to be able to edit the document, and only the creator. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Patrick Hresko
