List attribute inside of a product...

I'm writing a product that needs a list of items inside it, e.g ['abc', '456', '243']. The list stays intact if the server is up. But if I shutdown and restart, the list is cleared again. Here's some of my code: class Store(Folder.Folder, PortalContent, DefaultDublinCoreImpl): """ Store Class """ meta_type = 'Store' _isDiscussable = 1 icon = PortalContent.icon categoryList = [] def manage_addCategory(self, id, title, REQUEST = None): self.categoryList.append(id) Is this the reason my list is getting reset to empty on restart? I don't understand. If I have a text attribute and set it to empty in the class code, then it's fine. I get my saved attribute. But my list is blown away. Jeff

Referring to an image, css, etc., within a Python product.

How might I go about that? If I have a dtml/ directory that contains all of my DTML methods, how can those methods refer to image files etc? As a specific example, let's say I have manage_MyThing.dtml. How does that DTML object get at myImage.gif in the same dtml/ directory? And DTMLFile doesn't work on ZPTs does it? To do production Zope hosting right, I'd strongly suggest Squid. Here's 4 things you can't do with ZServer alone: Want security? Use Squid, access lists, and a redirector (URL rewriter). Squid also handles various sorts of DoS and malformed HTTP request without issue. Want virtual hosting? Use Squid, a redirector, and a Virtual Host Monster. Want page caching? Use Squid and Zope's HTTP cache manager. Want load-balancing of multiple ZEO servers? Use Squid and Toby's ICP ZServer patches. Apache/mod_proxy will do the first 3 on that list just fine as well. I was under the impression that the usual Apache approach simply delegates to the Zope native webserver without doing much of anything except eating machine cycles. Hello, I have installed the lastest Zope from Zope.com, and find this Hotfix file, post dates the April 15, 2002 version of Zope, which I installed. I find I have 108 files with the same name as the Hotfix file. Problem? Where am I supposed to install the Hotfix file? over all 108 on system files of the same name? those 108 files are not the same size. Please advise. Thank you. Richard Moore. Hi! We are going to host some Zope sites in the near future and therefore some questions came up: 1. When someone needs a whole Zope instance we don't like to give him a dedicated server. How usefull is it to run more than one individual Zope instances on one Server? Is there a better solution for more than one Zope instance? How helpful is ZEO in this case? 2. Which configuration is the "best": Zope + Apache, Zope's Webserver Medusa alone, any other configuration like Zope + Squid (as reverse proxy)? Which configuration fits which requirements? 3. When more than one user participates in one Zope instance, what is the preferable method to get (for the user) distinct Zope views for each user. Thanx for your answers, Juergen

Hi all. I arrived at the same solution (i think) in a different way. Using the Zope Windows Controller, you can redefine the path to your python. My assumption is this is all that needs changing. Is this assumption correct? I also changed it in the "start.bat" The reason for changing the python path was to get perl working under Zope. Now, on changing the path to python, configuring pyperl to python, and installing the zoperl product, the perl scripts appear (as a product), but i get errors when trying to run even a very simple perl script. Or is perl on Zope just unstable currently? Is Perl on Zope even worth pursuing? As time goes by, I'll keep asking this question... Has anyone had success configuring Zope virtual hosting with Apache 2? I'm especially interested in hearing about Apache 2 mod_rewrite and mod_proxy problems or differences.
