Howdy! I've got something setup where something is published and calls something else, which calls something else, until eventually it calls a dtml method which makes a call like this <dtml-var "tools.script1()"> Inside of script1 I want to know where the PUBLISHED object was published. Well, It hit me, but I'll send this anyway. PUBLISHED.aq_parent is what I wanted. -Brian

PC restart when starting Zope

I've installed Zope both at work and at home. At work I've installed Zope on my workstation (Win98) for testing and on W2K server for our intranet. It works like a charm. No problemo. However the problem is at home. I've installed both 2.5.0 and 2.5.1 on my machine (WinME). Whenever I click the start.bat one of the following things happens: a) VXD-error b) black screen with a nasty dotted green line at top c) The computer restarts And of course the machine just locks up on either a or b, so a restart is necessary anyhow. ParsedXML

I'm using ParsedXML. When it came time to arrange to edit XML directly I simply delegated the function to the same mechanism used by the ZMI. Works just fine. BUT... when I added the XML editing, some of the traversal mechanisms which walk the tree suddenly began to fail when I had modified an XML document. Now, a ParsedXML document consists of a DOCUMENT node which references the XML document properly. The DOCUMENT node contains the meta-information about the doucment. Afer editing, the DOCUMENT node has disappeared and only the XML tree remains. This is true for both my system and for edits via the ZMI. Is this a feature or a bug? I'm using ParsedXML 1.2.1 with Zope 2.50. A quick check of the bug list for ParsedXML doesn't mention any problem like this. -dra

form validation

I've got a problem with form validation - I've added some fields to a form (the form is in a zpt), and the fields work okay. I copied and pasted the error handling code for the new fields from the pre-existing fields, and changed the variable names where neccesary. This is on plone's join_form.pt, by the way. It works perfectly when input is valid, but when the username field's input is invalid it doesn't notify the user - the field normally has a box around it and a text message to the user. On pressing the 'register' button, the form page is reloaded like it should be, but it doesn't highlight the username field UNLESS (and this is the odd part) there are also other fields that are invalid. I didn't make any changes to the username stuff, so I've got no clue what's happening. Can anyone make heads or tails of this? Why would the existance of errors in other fields affect the username field?

DTML or TAL

Greetz Reading the ZopeBook.pdf one get the impression the DTML is on its way out and TAL on its way in. Is that the case? If yes, why does Devshed then post an article about DTML? \Oliver
