Hi all, I've noticed that both :method and :action do nothing when they are in a zpt. Is there any known workaround for this? Example: <input type="submit" name="admin_rename_form:method" value="Rename" /> <input type="submit" name="admin_duplicate:method" value="Duplicate" /> <input type="submit" name="admin_delete:method" value="Delete" />

I have played more than a year now with Zope and possibly half a year with Python. Python was never that much the problem -- it took some time to realise what is shared and when an object is actually copied etc. Zope itself standed a more mysterious piece of work for longer. Then suddenly the source code - or atleast parts of it - started to make sense. Python structures made sense, and after that things started to click into their places. There are still things that in Python bite into my anckle from time to time, but I feel that I am learning -- and for most of time my job is not to code that much in Python, but to do scripts that utilize the best parts of other peoples' great modules or products. And yes. I do love Zope. -huima

zope, swig and external files

Hi, Is someone able to send me an example using external methods and files generated with swig. In fact, I have a C++ program, and I want to do the interface with Zope. So I used Swig to generate the file to make me able to use Python scripts with my C++ application. But now I can't make it run on Zope! I use an external method to put my main.py, but I don't know what to do with the xx-wrap.c, xx.py, xx.i, ... files used by swig Shall I put them in Zope? and If yes shall I put them in an external Method or in an other zope object?... Can someone help me? Thanks

Hi David, Kindly accept my sincere apology for not have gotten back to you on this issue. I have been so busy trying to implement the code you sent to me to meet my needs. I thank you so much bcos I am getting positive result. The only problem I have now that I have not been able to solve is this : Instead of using the hyperlink to point to mm, I want a situation where I will be able to use the Form Action bcos there are certain parameters that i want to pass with the form. Redefining variables

Hi, I have searching the Zope archives and I cannot found out how to do this. >From a form I have 4 variables so the user can wildcard any or all of them. In the form, I have set the value to display "%" and my sql calls works fine. I know the user will complain about the "%". So I blanked out the values. In the form that display the search results I added the following: <dtml-if "specification==''"> What is the statement to make specification ="%"? After these dtml-if statements I have the sql call (<dtml-in lookup_spec_query>). Most dtml-if statement I have seen refer to dtml-calls. Any examples would be great, thanks. accessing an CMF-Collector-Item variable using a string

Hello !! Recently the following problem arised, and my unability to solve it, made me feel desperate and unworthy to live. Okay, enough with exaggerating, here comes the problem: I have a list of strings (it's called tokens isn't it ?) which contains the names of some CollectorItems. The list is called 'collectorItems' Let's assume there's a CMF-Collector installd under '/Coll' containing about 300items. Now i have to acces a variable of the given Items in CollectorItems called status: i tried the following: <dtml-in collectorItems> <dtml-with "Coll"> <dtml-with sequence-item> <dtml-var status> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> it didn't work. i also tried: <dtml-in collectorItems> <dtml-with "Coll"> <dtml-var "_['sequence-item'].status"> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> again, it didn't work, so i tried (as my last rescue, even without really knowing what i tried to do): <dtml-in collectorItems> <dtml-with "Coll"> <dtml-with "_['sequence-item'].getObject()"> <dtml-var status> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> you guess it: again, IT DID NOT WORK !! hopefully, there is s.o. out there to help me, thanx in advance, Chris!

How to Learn ZPT or DTML??

Being new to Zope, I would like to minimize my learning curve to some extent. I guess I am a little confused between the uses of TAL, ZPT and Python. Where should one start to learn TAL? or ZPT?

I'm trying to create a list of files from a ZipFolder. Came across: http://www.zope.org/Members/hawkfish/zpt_list_files Example didn't compile w/o errors  Hawkfish didn't have an email address. Any Ideas? Eric

Hello, I'm working on a News product that uses ZPTs for the rendering of the newsobjects. Only when the text of the objects is rendered, the &-sign is quoted into &. When I have a word like 'én' it is quoted into '&eacute;n'. This is a snipped from my repeat loop that iterates over my newsobjects: <p class="newsbody" tal:content="item/body">This is the bodyof the child object</p> How can I change this so that the body isn't quoted?
