Hello, I am working onn adding Squid to my Zope setup to speed things up, but am wondering abour the URL's. In many parts of the site, and even in the default setup of CMF for example, absolute URL functions are used. Now, this becomes a problem if I want to run Squid on a separate machine, since I'm guessing Zope will guess it's URL as being different from what is being used by the user. If I have http://mydomain.com setup as the Squid cache, but the Zope site actually lives at http://nocache.mydomain.com , Zope will give URL outputs as the "nocache" version, which is a problem, since I want Zope to *think* it's actually on mydomain.com ... Has anybody run into this problem ? How do I get around it ? For my own stuff it's easy enough, but in the case of CMF content, it's a problem since a lot of the skin stuff uses absolute paths .... Help?! export product outside zope

Is it possible to use the Zope API to export a folder outside of zope, eg, either by using some combination of ZODB.ExportImport or OFS.ObjectManager? If not, can this be done with the XML-RPC patch that incorporates authorization headers? I want to set up a cron process that exports a folder to the local filesystem? Perhaps this can also better done within zope? Thanks, John hunter

POST to zope II

Hi zopista There was a thread last year about this subject ("POST to zope"), and i wonder if anybody found a solution/workaround in the meantime. PROBLEM: Flash getURL/loadVariable with POST ist not working properly under all browser/OS/flash combination. to me it looks like it's all ok under explorer but not in netscape, but other people stated differently. I can verify that it happens with Flash 6 too. oops. MACROMEDIA SAYS: This happens because Flash sends the data in a GET/POST hybrid format. If the data were being sent using a GET request, the variables would appear in a query string appended to the end of the URL. Flash uses a GET server request, but the Name/Value pairs containing the variables are sent in a second transmission using POST. Although this causes the servlet to trigger the doGet() method, the variables are still available in the server request. [http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/java_get.htm] I'M USING: ZOPE 2.5 on RedHat 7.1 behind Apache QUESTION: How could i see the POST vars when the clients says GET but does POST. Of course i could switch to GET but that would be too easy ;-) take care gidon

Once again - I sent this mail an hour ago, but did not even receive it myself :-/ Ciao Zopistas, ... just my two ... questions: 1) When I uploaded a html-file and later want to change something inside of it by using the "edit"-Tab, I always get an empty field without the html-code of the file I expect to be there and wait for my editing ... Or am I completely wrong about that .... Typing something new into the empty field deletes everything that was there before by replacing it with the new text... But I want to change only a little bit of the original text ... not type it completely anew or copy&paste it out of an local editor 2) Does anybody know something / are there plans to create a database connectivity tool for Xindice, the XML-Database now part of the Apache-project? Because ZODB can be exported partially (or even totally) as XML-file it seems to be possible to have (at least for the data) ZODB replaced in parts with Xindice - or am I wrong (again?) ZCatalog can't find anything

I have a fresh install of Zope 2.5.1 (Python 1.3.1) running on XP pro and am attempting to use a Zcatalog. The catalog is created without proublems bot I can not get the "Find Objects" tab to return any results no matter how narrow or broad the criteria is. The "Find" tab of any other object works fine. Is this a problem with me or the software? I've followed a number of tutorials and examples to the letter with the same (lack of) results. "I am not a number! I am a free man!" --The Prisoner

Can someone take a look at this- regarding periods in object names Generally I would "_['hostname']", but there are already double quotes for the zsql object call- <dtml-in "qrySelectKey(sqlTable=sqlTable, sqlKey=sqlKey, sqlKeyStr=_['hostname'])"> ... </dtml-in> the above fails finding the object named by the first portion of the hostname (up to the period) thanks in advance Chas.

Hi, I'm new to ZOPE having been recommended I look at it by an acquaintance of mine. I run Mac OSX, but I do not have Python installed on the Mac as I am not a programmer (yet). 2 Questions... 1. Where (if at all) can I get a ready complied version of ZOPE that will run on my machine? 2. If I need to compile it from source can you point me at the tools I'll need and a tutorial? Authentication problem with IE 5.0, Linux Netscape and other browsers

Hello list, on our productive system we are running Zope 2.4.3. We use LDAP authentication by using the LDAP User Folder product. On a test server, we upgraded to Zope 2.5.1. After establishing the LDAP user folder, authentication works fine on all (tested) browsers. We want to migrate the Data.fs from 2.4.3 to 2.5.1 by simply copying it. BTW: Is there a better way? But after replacing the original Data.fs on the 2.5.1 system with the 2.4.3 Data.fs, we cannont authenticate anymore in Windows:IE and Linux:Netscape, Mozilla and Konqueror, although it still works under Windows Netscape. We immediately get the "Not authorized" error message instead of the authentication window. Even disabling the LDAP authentication and using the standard Zope authentication instead doesn't help. What's wrong here? I don't even have a glance in which direction to walk. Who can help? Can anyone tell me what path I should be able to log into zope at, using an emergency user?
