Hi, I'm trying to plan out what content management system we should be going with and I really like what zope has to offer. I've gone through the zope site in great detail, and googled till my eyes are ready it fall out, but I'm not a sys admin so there are a couple of really basic questions I really haven't been able to get my head around. Some time in the next few months we will be getting a colocated server to run our websites on, and I'm wondering what the best way to install zope would be. Most of the server will be taken up by webct (a web-based program used to serve educational courses over the net), and I'd like to install zope along side it to run 4-5 other websites. Would I be able to install a separate instance of zope for each website, or should I be installing one instance of zope and simply point the IP address to different sections of the directory tree? I know the ISP that currently hosts our websites has multiple instances of apache installed under solaris. I assume that multiple instances of apached, zope, etc can also be installed under Linux? We'll have a real sys admin to install everything on our live server, but I need to install zope now on a test server and I'd like to set it up the same way as it'll be set up later when its live. Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I'm trying to make the initial install stage as painless as possible. Trial and error is an amazing learning tool, but my head's already a bit sore from banging it against wall. ZWiki, file uploads: how ?

Hi, I was looking at the release notes for ZWiki 0.9.9 and it claims to support file uploads. After looking at http://www.zwiki.org/UploadsModificationDiffs I figured I should add a folder named "uploads" under my ZWiki, set the permissions as defined and I'd be set. I thought that at this point I'd have an [UPLOAD FILE] link or something, like I have with TWiki. Nope. I am browsing the site but documentation on how to enable file uploads is, err, scarce. Anybody out there willing to give some help ? Thanks !! marcio

What I want is that when the user type: www.oldsite.com he will be fordwared to www.myzope.com/folder1/folder2/website/ without knowing it and he won't see www.oldsite.com/folder1/folder2/webite in the address bar. Hi, I want to limit access by role to the functionnality within my website. Firstly, I need to remove the view permission from the anonymous role so that users are required to log on to my site. I attempted to do this by unchecking the view permission against the anon role in the security tab of the users folder within the folder I was working in. However, this appears to make no difference: I have even added a dtml-if statement to the contents of the page I'm testing to explicitly check if the current user has view permissions before displaying any data. This has no effect either? Any help much appreciated! getId of nesting document

I have a standard_html_header in which I would like to be able to publish the Id of the document which calls it. but when I use <dtml-var getId> I get 'standard_html_header' rather than the name of the document USING standard_html_header. How can I get the Id of the nesting document? Thanks joshua

IDE for ZOPE

Hello I'm trying to write a COMPLETE INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT for zope . I'll soon be out with a layout of how I'm going to work. This mail posting just gives you some idea .Though it is in a very prelimenary stage , i plan to get first prototype as soon as possible. Here I solve some of ur queries (if at all u have) Q.What is IDE for ZOPE? A.To make similarities it is something like a NS-Composer,MS-FrontPage. But exclusively make ONLY for ZOPE development environment. That is you DONT work on the server directly from a webbrowser . You work on a buffer manupulate using tools and send it back to the zope . The main Advantage is that it will be 1.FAST 2.ROBUST 3.Advantage of TOOLs inside IDE ie making sites directly from w-y-s-w-y-g techniques, no need to remeber each and every HTML tags, 4.Attribute access/manupulation for each an every ZOPE OBJECT 5. You can guess the rest. Q.Ok,You sound Gods, Show me codes A.Well, As i told u its in a very preliminary stage. I have not yet released the Codes. I'll do that soon. Q.hmm, Lets cya work till date. A.I'm using Tkinter ( TCL/TK gui toolkit , make by our own Guido ), which is 100% pure Python .The advantage is Platform independens and ofcouse the power of Python.You know IDLE ( python default editor which comes with python) is made in Tkinter. So the codes till now are form Tkinter .In which i'm trying to make tree widget to import objects( I'm stuck here - as im writing this mail ).It uses XML-RPC to get objects from current path to the end Ex. if URL is http://something.com/foo then from current object (foo) to the end of tree ( say foo has bar1,bar2 .. foo/bar1/bar2) ... so I have to make a tree of objects <foo> |-<bar1> -<bar2> (ANY SUGGESTIONS?) Q.I'm using Dreamweaver,Emacs..etc .. Do i need some other IDE? A. Dreamweaver/Emacs are not IDEs at all , well they might help you manupulate objects but not there properties. The reason is that they use FTP/WebDav .. which dont transfer properties ... (mostly ) ... where as XML does More over they dont know atall about an customerised objects. Q. How much you ganna charge? A. Pivot Table operation

Does anyone have any existing code to do something like the pivot table function from excel on data coming from a ZSql method? The query does something like: select a, b, count(c) from x group by a, b And I would like to have the output displayed like: | B1 | B2 | B3 | B4 | ... ----+----+----+----+----+ A1 | A2 | A3 | A4 | ... folders with same names (newbie question)

First of all, thanks for your patience for reading this long post.......I posted it twice a while ago but had no replies so am trying again...... Our development site has approx the following structure: index_html - About | Guided Tour | Machine - Jobs - Beamlines - Machine | Parameters etc Inside each folder is a contents_html document. The index_html is at the root and displays this content under a generic banner with drop down menus (Javascript) with links to the top level folders and their subfolders. Local navigation is generated via a treemenu which generates absolute_urls. Does this mean that in Zope no two folders can have the same id? This would cause problems when our contributors edit their parts of our site. Is there a way around this other than naming the folders differently? I remember seeing something about tpId somewhere....
