Forget it. Used a different tactic. The following python script works... for obj in context.objectValues('DTML Document'): obj.manage_changeProperties(on_host_committee=0) I'm not sure why the DTML doesn't, however. Hmmmm.... Disapearing cookies or problems with cookies and chache

Hi, I have an object with two properties. A German one, and a French one. Depending on the settings of a cookie I want the appropriate property content displayed. My problem is, that this seems not to work when the page is served from the local cache. Does anybody have an Idea how to force the display of the correct data. Or do you have a hint why cookies could "disappear" thanks Robert www.redcor.ch

XML in Zope

I had in mind to use DTML documents as the storage mechanism for the main documents at the core of an application I'm building for a client, but it turns out they are going to need to do some things that would be pretty cumbersome in a DTML document or method. So I'm investigating using XML for these documents. Searching zope.org turns up a lot of stuff about XML but, as far as I can tell, only one product: XMLDocument. But it describes itself as out of date and replaced by ParsedXML, which, as far as I can tell, hasn't had a product release yet. I can't tell from the ZQR which XML implementation it is documenting. This is all made more complex by the fact that I cannot for the life of me get an external script using any of the xml library stuff to run, but I'm not asking for help with that at the moment. I'm trying to work my way through it. So should I download and install the XMLDocument product and use it from DTML (ugh) or is there a better way to do this?

setuid, setgid, secondary groups and inheritance

Note: I've crossposted both the debian-user and zope lists because this issue relates to both. Do the Right Thing with replies (and I won't complain if I happen to get a duplicate copy one way or another). I am using Debian GNU/Linux (x86) with kernel 2.4.18, libc6 2.2.5-6, and zope 2.5.1-1. After zope (z2.py) calls setuid() and setgid() to drop its root privileges the following odd results are seen : o it properly switches to www-data:www-data o it retains the privilege of all the secondary groups root had (root and lpadmin) o it does NOT obtain the privilege of any of www-data's secondary groups This can be observed by adding the lines print "before" os.system( "groups" ) print "after" os.system( "groups" ) around the code where the setuid/setgid calls are and watching the terminal that zope is started from. The effect this had was to make roundup not work. I've temporarily worked around this by adding root to the 'rsupport' group (which www-data is already in). Does anyone know why zope would display the above misbehavior with respect to group membership? I think it is a bug somewhere, but I don't know where (or how to solve it). Automatic content expiration in the CMF...

I was wondering if anyone has tackled this. I thought that Zope would automatically expire content (set the review_state to private), once the expiration_date on the content is passed. How can I do this with DCWorkflow? I've tried to set up an automatic transition, but it doesn't do anything. Do I have to write a background task to do this, and if so, how is that done? David, Thanks, the ZFirebirdDA product no longer complains about the missing kinterbasdb module. However, it now complains about the mxDateTime module: File "C:\Telonyx\lib\python\Products\ZFireBirdDA\kinterbasdb.py", line 17, in ? import _kinterbasdb AttributeError: 'DateTime' module has no attribute 'mxDateTimeAPI' I have found the mxDatetime distutil but this brings me back to my original problem. What is the proper procedure for installing python distutils (like mxDateTime) for Zopes built-in python interpreter? I cant find it documented anywhere. Ahoj Stanislav, Thank you VERY much for the reply. I have copies of ZFirebirdDA and Kinterbasdb. What I can not figure out is how to make python extensions accesable to Zope. getId of nesting document

I have a standard_html_header in which I would like to be able to publish the Id of the document which calls it. but when if I use <dtml-var getId> I get 'standard_html_header' rather than the name of the document USING standard_html_header. How can I get the Id of the nesting document? Thanks joshua
