problem with Zope ODBC Database Adapter

Hi, I'm not able to connect to a certain database with the Zope ODBC database adapter. I can connect to other servers with no problems but when I try to connect to this other server I get the error "Invalid connection string". I'm using a connection string like: "DSN username password". I know the name and password are correct because I can connect to it with other client utilities. Has anyone had a problem like this? or see any obvious mistakes I'm making? thanks -Kevin

Hello, I wrote the follow python script: from Products.PythonScripts.standard import html_quote request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE return request.PARENTS[0]['menu_array'] And I have had the follow error: Error Type: TALESError Error Value: exceptions.KeyError on menu_array in "standard:'here/getMenuArray | default'", at line 22, column 1 It's right. The request.PARENTS[0] has no menu_array object, but, look the help of __getitem__(id) of objectmanager "Returns a child object given a child id. If there is no child with the given id, returns None. This method makes it easy to refer to children that have id with file extensions. For example:" I think the help is wrong. Is it true? What the best way to solution it? Do I have to use try: catch:? Problems with uplevel icon

I have got some problems with my uplevel icon. The product I use has an icon, but besides that I want to use a UpLevel icon. This icon has to be in the www folder of my product. I've tried this with the following code: def __init__(self): """I use only the necessary code""" self.id = id self.title = title self.uplevelicon = 'www/UpFolder_icon.gif' And then I want to call it from my Zope Page Template: <a class="newslink" href="" tal:attributes="href container/absolute_url"><img src="" width="16" height="16" border="0" alt="up" tal:attributes="src container/uplevelicon; alt container/meta_type" /></a> But Zope doesn't see it as an Image object. Or is there a method like this: <img src="/misc_/OFSP/Folder_icon.gif" tal:attributes="src item/icon"> Meta-Type Greetz Nico

Python calling files from ancestor directories?

Hi there, Any idea how I can use Python to call a file two directories up? So if my python script is at: /root/blah/cgi/someScript And I want it to return the file: /root/nah/someFile I haven't figured out how to do this yet, any ideas? Alec Munro

Renaming ZClass Instance problem.

Hi, Zope List. I've searched the archives for an answer to this niggly little problem I've found, but seen nothing which answers it, so I'd thought I'd ask here. Please excuse if I'm doing something wrong - I'm a relatively new user. I'm currently running the binary distribution of Zope downloaded from www.zope.org for Solaris under Solaris 2.7. I've created a new Product, and placed a single ZClass in it. The ZClass only inherits from ZObject. I can create an instance of this class (called adsl), but when I try a rename operation (renaming it to testProduct), The instance is in /talkbacktest in the zope tree, btw. Sessions: without cookies? url rewrite?

Hi, what is in the future of using Sessions with Zope? I am mostly talking about the events of using session without cookies - and how do we pass the session id around? At the moment it seems that without cookies the id has to be included in the form or links manually - since there is no mechanism to do the same as in php's url rewrite. Has anyone yet solved this or is there any ways to go around this? -huima

Using a template for all pages, or calling dtml as a function, or perhaps switch to Zpt ??

I have a site where i want to use the same template for all the pages. Lets say that I have the following structure: index_html: <dtml-var primary_content> <dtml-var secondary_content> I then want to use this template for all my pages. Most of my products will them implement "primary_content()" and "secondary_content()" methods. If a product hasn't implemented one of the methods, it just finds it from somewhere up the aquisition (aq) path So far so good. My problem is that it seems that I have to define "index_html" in every product for this to work. If I just put an "index_html" in the root of my aq path zope will traverse it's way up to it allright, but naturally won't find the objects "primary_content()" and "secondary_content()" methods. So the view is wrong. If I create a simple dtml attribute that looks like: index_html: <dtml-var "aq_parent.index_html(None, _)"> to call the aquired index_html within the current namespace, it doesn't work either. I want to use this type of layout in a site using a lot of products, so putting all the index_html code inside each product is A Bad Thing for many reasons. Has anybody got an idea as to how I can approach this? Perhaps by using Zpt ? Isn't it possible to call the index_html like a function from within the current namespace ?? copy/paste Folders

I have this Folder Structure CPM |-ALLCHANNELS |-PORTALFOLDER |-REFPORTALFOLDER I am trying to copy all the channels contained in the portals anf refportals folders into the allchannels folder. Using Java objects with the JPE

I'm trying to access some existing java objects through python with the python JPE library. I'm able to use these objects fine from the python command line, but I've spent hours trying to set things up with zope and have had no luck. Where do I put the JPE libraries for Zope to find them? I've got them under lib/Python/java right now. Do I need to add them as a Product? Where do I put my java classes for the JPE to find them? I'm assuming that they just need to be relative to my system CLASSPATH. Like I said, I've got everything working from the command line, getting it to work from Zope is what's baffling me. If anyone could point me to some documentation on adding python libraries to be accesable in zope, I'd appreciate it. Examples would be even better :) Thanks! David A.
