Hi, if I have the following two DTML statements: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('my_test','test_val')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('another_form_doc')"> Shouldn't the REQUEST header in the another_form_doc have the attribute 'my_test'?? Or am I missing something big-time here?? TIA AM

Hi all, If I want to know whether or not an object bound to the 'context' variable in Python Script has a specific child, how do I do it? For e.g. PScript: get_help(topic): if context.[has_child]('help'): if context.help.[has_child](topic): path = context.help.absolute_url() + '/topic" else: path = None return path Is there a "has_child" function? I tried to do some stuff with traversal but failed miserable (probably didnt understand it well enuff). Anyway what I propose works on one of my sites, you probably have some specific setup or requirements you didn't mention. Hi all, I've got some problems with my News product. For the rendering of it, I let the site owner choose between DTML Methods and Zope Page Templates. In the Add Form he can check a checkbox 'Add DTML Methods' or a checkbox 'Add Page Templates' (or both). Only after you add the 'News Page Template' and the manage_main is refreshed, the hyperlink on top of the manage_main is changed from (news is the current News object): /Test/news to: /Test/news/manage_addProduct/News and when I again add a 'News Page Template' it is changed to: /Test/news/manage_addProduct/News/manage_addProduct/News How can I keep the same hyperlink /Test/news as there is no News Template added? How does dtml-sqlgroup really work?

Hi: Not sure if this is a DB question, or DTML question, so I'm sending it to the general Zope list. I've been banging my head over this relatively simple query, which (if my understanding of the dtml-sqltest tag is correct), should be fine. The idea is simple, get 3 columns from company_index, and display the results, if there's further constrains set (like ticker, company_name, etc.), taylor the query accordingly: select company_name,ticker,primary_exchange from company_index <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest ticker op=eq type=nb> <dtml-sqltest company_name op=like type=nb> <dtml-sqltest industry_group op=eq type=nb> <dtml-sqltest industry_subgroup op=eq type=nb> <dtml-sqltest market_cap op=eq type=nb> <dtml-sqltest market_sector op=eq type=nb> <dtml-sqltest primary_exchange op=eq type=nb> </dtml-sqlgroup> but it's not happy. Thank you for your patience. ************** Which in my opinion does not make sense. I intedended for only one var to be set, and leave the others non-existing alone. I get this error when I only set the company_name, and I expect my query to be: select company_name,ticker,primary_exchange from company_index where company_index like 'Value I passed%' Shouldn't sqltest should recognize that, and not raise an error? ------------------------- I used a variation, which I don't think should be used because supposedly sqltest's job is to test if a var is set, and include it in my 'where' if it is. zope + irclib

Hi, Whenever I add a user+password to Zope's acl_users, I'd want to be able to register the same username + password on an internal IRC server. I've downloaded Python's irclib from SourceForge but I'm not very familiar with IRC so I don't really know how to do for sure. Does anyone have a sample code to do this sort of things ? irclib doesn't seem to be thread safe (there's such a comment in the code), does anyone have encountered any problem while using it from Zope ? All I'm saying is there are other ways to cope, since I don't think TF can be 'fixed.' Eventually, I think it is likely that I will write a product that will do something to allow "views" of folder to be a native characteristic of the UI for the product, but I don't currently have time. Creating your own product and subclassing folder should pose no real issues, since the main thing you would be hacking would be just the UI (all the core functionality of ObjectManager derived classes would still be there via inheritance). You would add an extra DTML method on the filesystem within your product to provide a limited view of the folder, using some crieteria to filter (I don't think underscore is doable, so you will have to come up with another filter scheme, by substing in id, or meta_type, or something else). Some example code (not guaranteed to work, but a place to start) is below. It assumes that you subclass folder, and create a few methods to filter results of ObjectManager API calls, and use these filtered results in DTML replacing manage_main for your custom folder. Could you start your message with something like: "I've patched TF so it will work perfectly with 2.5 and all subsequent versions...." ;-) Seriously, this is not the first time I've heard the "TransparentFolders Considered Harmful" argument, and at some level I'm inclined to agree. Just not at the level of someone who has to wade through tons of dinky objects in his ZMI, nor at the level of someone who has to change lots of his code to account for other changes. It's too bad we can't use an underscore at the beginning of an object's id. Then we could have a "Hidden Contents" tab in the ZMI and view them that way. This would give us one transparent folder in each folder. A boy can dream. This leads me to a different question: how safe (or stable) is it to subclass folder and add some new behaviors to it? People blithely talk about doing it all the time, but my Zope sites total between 2000 and 5000 hits an hour. I get concerned about maintaining stability and performance. Obviously bad coding = bad performance and/or instability, but assuming competent coding, can I expect my subclassed folder to work as well as Folder? Gadfly commit/abort

I am helping a friend who is using Gadfly. I've looked at the on-line documents but have not found the information I need. The source code site appears to be down... So, here's the problem. Gadfly supports commit and abort (rollback). From python, the interface to these features is via methods applied to the connection object. Our question, how does one commit or rollback Gadfly from DTML. I looked at the Gadflyu DB adaptor, but I couldn't find the functionality. From the Gadfly documentation it appears the SQL 'COMMIT' and 'ROLLBACK' commands are not handled by Gadfly proper. -d

Limit on ZSQLMethods?

Is there a limit to the number of records a ZSQLMethod can return, something like 1000 records? I ask this, because I am making a tabbed delimited list of records for a Pittney Bowes mail export, and my record set keeps getting capped at 1000 records. I am not setting an explicit limit in my ZSQLMethod, so my suspicion falls on Zope protecting me from large loops. I am already working on moving my DB query out into an External Method, but I was just curious if the limit existed and if there was another way around it.
