Problems with ExternalEditor & CMS

hi, I wanted to install CMS (tried 1.3beta & CVS). After adding a CMS-SITE I always get a RuntimeError (traceback 1 below) when I want to manage my ZOPE-Root. Tried the same with a fresh install of ZOPE without Caseys excellent ExternalEditor and all works fine. So I tried to deinstall ExternalEditor... but this didn't work!!! Symlinks?

Hi all, Does know how to make symlinks between subfolders in Zope filesystem like in linux? inheritance in python product

hello, I've a problem to have a class which inherits from zope base classes (Role.RoleManager, Acquisition.Implicit, ObjectManager.ObjectManager and Persistent) and classes from another package. As soon as a class inherits from one of the zope base class, I get an exception when I try to instantiate an object of this class. This exception is raised when I try to call the ancestor constructor: ZNodeImpl.__init__(self, id, title) TypeError: unbound method __init__() must be called with instance as first argument this sounds like my class doesn't inherit from ZNodeImpl but it does !! If I remove the zope base class, everything works correctly... it seems to have some python black magic here. Anybody can explain this to me or give some pointers ? TIA -- Sylvain Thénault

ZPT rendering

Hi people, I'm experimenting with ZPT and I need to ask you about the rendering in ZPTs. Let me explain my problem with an example: I have a folder with some DTML Documents in it (I'm putting DTML Docs as an example object that renders itself to show some content, ok?), and I have a ZPT template that iterates through the DTMLs list in that folder and call its rendering method one by one this way: <ul> <li tal:repeat="child container/folder/objectValues"> <span tal:replace="child"></span></li> </ul> Every DTML Doc outputs HTML code (obviously), and let suppose that they do not output an entire HTML page, but some HTML formatted text between <h3> and </h3>. My problem is that when I ask the ZPT to render itself, it doesn't take the DTML Doc's output _literally_, but what it does is convert all HTML Tags to <b> and so on... How can I make ZPT _not_ to convert all HTML tags to &blabla;? What I'm doing is developing a Zope Product that will permit the web developer to treat every graphical entity as a widget, as in GNOME programming for example. So that every widget will be an object that passes itself to a SkinManager to be rendered, and well, I'm having this problem, what can I do? Just thought I'd say I received my copy of the Zope Bible yesterday and already am quite taken with it. It has answered three questions I had and anticipated two others in only 3 hours of reading. The chapter on ZPT seems quite good. Combined with the struggle I had over the past few days to get to a basic understanding of this important topic, I'm encouraged to think I might actually get to be fairly comfortable with it before I'm done. It also has what appears at least to be a very strong chapter on debugging, a subject which has been a frequent bane for me. I am encouraged. desperate for some help here

Hi all, I have a method in acl_users called logout (which calls a py function in my product) and try to use the method from a doc that could be anywhere in the site. The error I get is: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access user_logout in this context The method logout : <dtml-call "user_logout"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('/test_folder/logged_out')"> The call from another doc (could be anywhere) <a href="<dtml-var "acl_users.log_out.absolute_url()">" class="link">LOGOUT</a> I found some links on the zope site dealing with context switches but they werent very helpful. Primarily they said about being careful as to what object I put stuff in, I tried making the logout method a DTML doc with the same result. How do I get around this problem? In the end I had to use this ugly thing, but it works, slightly dissapointed I could not get sqltest & sqlgroup to work....maybe I'll have to time to dig deeper later, and understand it better when I increase my Zope Zen ;-). I have the following directory structure layout | `-- retro `-- classic `-- somethingelse I want to get the objects inside one of the style-directory from a python program, chosen by a variable that is set. So i have a variable style="retro" and I want to access the objects in the retro-Folder. What do I do? Normally I would access the contents via context.layout.retro.objectValues() - now i need something like context.layout.(style).objectValues(). Is this possible? How? Bye Peter
