what to do... with this error

Hi all, I have a method in acl_users called logout and try to use the method from a doc that could be anywhere in the site. The error I get is: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access user_logout in this context I found some links on the zope site dealing with context switches but they werent very helpful. How do I get around this problem? MySQL is picky about the connection string. auth info in RESPONSE.redirect

Hi, Is there any way to send the authorisation information gotten by something like : ac = encodestring('%s:%s' % (username, password)) auth = 'Basic %s' % ac alongwith a RESPONSE.redirect('url') where url is a protected resource, so that the validation does not pop up a username/password box and uses the suth info provided. External method woes Zope 2.5.1 - no parameters being passed into external method - works fine with a refresh

I download a fresh Zope 2.5.1 for Windows. I create an external method "foo". def foo (self, REQUEST, RESPONSE): return "Hello World." I register it with id "foo". First invocation of /foo gives me: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: foo() takes exactly 3 arguments (0 given) I hit refresh and all is well! Occasionally but unpredictably, the problem re-occurs but disappears again for a while when I hit refresh. Browser is IE 6. Does this scenario ring any bells with anyone? regards, Sean

TAL Syntax for Iterating Over List of Dictionaries

Given a Python script that returns a list of dictionaries that looks like this: [{'title': 'Article 1', 'Summary': 'Summary of Article 1'} {'title': 'Article 2', 'Summary': 'Summary of Article2'}] and the need to create a table in a ZPT template that has the key of each dictionary in column 1 and the summary of each dictionary in column 2, could someone give me correct tal syntax? I think I can see how this would work if I were returning a single dictionary (though I haven't been able to get that to quite work yet) but I can't find anything about iterating over a list of dictionaries from TAL. For completeness, here's the Python script. It iterates over all objects in a folder from which it is run. Obviously it needs error-checking and other doodads, but hopefully this is enough to enable someone to help me here. Hi, my intention was to control some programs which exists on the filesystem (Linux6.4) within Zope The programs exists in a directory (Rights --> u-g-o 7-7-0) which is owned by the user "user1" in the group "group1". The Zope process runs under the user "user2" To allow the Zope-process accessing the filesystem-directory i have included the user "user2" into the group "group1". So far so good :-) If i log into the system via a shell - with "user2" - i have full access on the directory --as expected -- Now, if i try do access these directory from zope, doesn't matter which way i chosse (LocalFS,ExternalMethod) i get a Error-Message like "Sorry, you are not allowed to access..." Why doesn' t zope recognize that the user "user2" is also a "group1" -member ? Any ideas ??? Ralph

dtml-calendar in 2.5.1 problem

Hi all, I haven't asked a question for over a year: Zope has been running smoothly for me. I've recently landed a new server, though, and took the opportunity to upgrade from 2.3.1 to Zope 2.5.1. The dtml-calendar tag I had been using breaks in the process. Can someone point me to a fix, or at least point out the problem? Thanks! Anthony

Python Product Creation Demystified

I must say that Max M's contribution at least to *my* little corner of Zopedom has been stupendous! As those of you who read the list regularly know, I've been struggling with the paradigm for how best to build real Web apps and services in the Zope world for some time. Having had a bad false start with zClasses, I took an all-Python approach using the built-in architecture of Zope internal objects. That worked OK but was decidedly inelegant and lacked reusability. Lots of people recommended Python products. I read Chapter 3 of the ZDG and a few other resources and the more I read the more confused I became. Max M to the rescue. He sent me a note and suggested I look at his mxm Easy product (http://www.zope.org/Members/maxm/HowTo/easyProduct) I downloaded the product, printed out the docs, and settled in for what I anticipated would be a day or two -- minimum -- of working with this rangy beast called Python Products. In two hours, I was creating my own fully functional Python products. I cannot urge you strongly enough, if you're in the same boat I was in this morning, go get this product. Read the docs. Follow the examples. He's made this about as simple as it's going to get. A big public thanks to Max and to his participation on this outstanding list! My faith in Zope is once again restored. At least for the moment. ;-)
