Subclassing OrderedFolder

Ok, so it says in the OrderedFolder blurb that it should be easy to set it as a base class for other folderish objects. I can't seem to make it work. From what I can tell, it seems to be getting hung up on the NoBabelTag stuff and shows the error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'None' object has no attribute 'blocks' when I try to bring up the management screen. Does anyone have an example of using OrderedFolder as a base class? Catching Unauthorized

Hi all, I'm trying to find out how I might be able to catch an Unauthorized exception before it generates a response to the browser. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks. David Trudgett

Chris has been vocal and a major influence in my decision to learn how to do Python products and use Python classes exclusively. But, boy, the learning curve looks fairly steep. I'm starting with FreePM to see if I can get something simple working and I'm just about to go see if my local bookstore has Zope Bible.

Tutorial glitch report

While going through the tutorial (Zope 2.5.1 linux), I encountered no conspicuous problems until I got to lesson 8. In lesson 8, I altered the photoAction document as specified in the instructions, by adding ", title=photo_title" after "file=file" (and saving the changes). Then I attempted to view the document by clicking the View tab, whereupon Zope returned an error: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'file' is not defined I took a guess at the problem, added double quotes around the "file" after "file=", saved the changes and tried again to view it; the same error was returned; I changed the double quotes to single and voila! a new error was returned: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'photo_title' is not defined Okay, I saved a step this time by going straight to single quotes around "photo_title", saved the changes, clicked the View tab, whereupon a new error was returned: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: Empty or invalid id specified. This time my guess worked the first time: I put something between the (formerly empty) single quotes after "id=", clicked View, and got the expected result. Is this the right place for this kind of report? Steer me to the right place if not. Eric

The best guide to creating Python Products that I have seen is in the fairly new book Zope Bible. Last time I looked, Amazon had it marked down from $50 to $35. Regarding ZClasses -- I did a moderately big project (email newsletters) in Zclasses, and now I'm rewriting it as a Product. Wish I had just done a Product from the beginning. Win32 binary corrupt?

Three times I downloaded and attempted to install this release: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.5.1/Zope-2.5.1-win32-x86.exe/view and everytime I got a message stating that the file is corrupt. It would be nice to have a md5sum along with the downloads to check integrity upon reception. not elegant

Cannot determine exception cause

Please help a fledgling Zope user who is trying to build his first Zope site! I have a database in which there is a table of "activity groups" which can be obtained from the selectActivityGroups ZSQL. This works fine. The document which produces this page is ListGroups. From ListGroups I can click the Edit button to get toe the EditAGroup page. This also works fine and the selected record's values are transferred correctly. When I click the Save button, the UpdateAGroup document is accessed which, in turn, accesses the UpdateGroup ZSQL. When this is done an error occurs which causes the exception to be raised in UpdateAGroup. 1. How can I detect further what the cause of the exception is? 2. Why does the error message come out "Error while saving group _['dbid']" instead of translating the dbid value? *Simple* Zope product to implement a collaborative Web site

I'm looking for a *simple* Zope (Zope is not really mandatory but I like it and this is a Zope list after all) product to implement a collaborative Web site. A sort of poor man's Web Content Management system. Here are my main requirments: 1) Ability for the registered users to add easily any type of files (.pdf, .dvi, .txt and even .html). 2) Shrink-wrapped software, I don't have the time right now to develop a custom application. 3) (If possible.) History of changes, deletions, etc. I considered Portal For All <URL:http://www.zope.org/Members/dgeorgieff/popoto> which seems fine and CMF which seems overkill. Any suggestion?

Subclassing Folder

I want to create a new type of folder that, when created, brings some specific properties and contents along with it. I presume I will want to use a ZClass for this, but given all the warnings I've received about their relative fragility, I wanted to check with the list to be sure I'm not either overlooking a better solution or acting in ignorance of a packaged solution.
