Maintaining passing the same dtml-var through several dtml docs

Hi, I am trying to pass the same variable through several dtml docs. The first doc lets you select from pull down menus and the next dtml doc takes this information and inserts the data into the proper field in the database. My next doc is a form for the users to fill out. I keep getting the same error messages about the variable key error or not globally define (after I try something). I have read Dieter's Chap 3 section (very good stuff) and it tells me the object is probably empty. Again, I know I have a syntax error. ZCacheable_invalidate

Hi, I have installed a RAMCacheManager with REQUEST variables: AUTHENTICATED_USER username PATH_INFO /url/bla/bla data came from session data sniffer came from UserSniffer for browser detection Can I invalidate the cached object belonging to the cache_key of this REQUEST variables. I don't want to invalidate all cached version of an object. Regards, Dirk

displaying same content in two different web sites

Hello, I am new to Zope, but I have a problem I think using it will solve. However, before I delve into my new "Zope Bible" book, can someone please confirm that using Zope will help solve the following issue: a client of mine is a large international compnay (our first). We are building their "main" corporate website now. They have just informed us that they also want a "regional" site for Asia (but it will be in english). The regional site will have it own region specific content, but it will also have some of the same content as the main site. Although we will design the main and regional sites so that you can tell they are the same company, they will each have a distinct look and feel. The way i see it, we can manage this 2 ways: 1. Manually "cut" the content from the "main" site and paste it to the "regional" site. Then if the content changes on the main site, we have to remember to re-paste the content to the regional site. 2. somehow reference the same content from both the "main" site, and the "regional" site. Then if the content is changed, it is automatically updated at both the regional and main sites. Hi, I found out that REQUEST['HTTP_PRAGMA'] is set to 'no-cache' if the browser refresh button is pressed. Can anybody verify that ? Regards, Dirk

Working with TransientObjectContainer

Hi all!!! I'm working on a project that uses Zope (2.5.0) , but most of the work is done in Python (currently 2.1). The thing is that I'm trying to use the Python's class Transience to create a transienteObjectyContainer that calls a method each time an object contained in it (mostly session objects) expires. The docs say that I can do this by defining a 'delNotification' when I create that object. So far so good... But when a call the class __init__ with an callable method, it is executed in compilation time, which means that the method is executed right away, insted of being executed when the object expires. I´ve also tried to pass that method as a string (path+method_name), but Zope asks for the Zope path, and not for the FS path that is used in Python. I'm sure I'm missing the big picture here, so if there's anyone out there that knows how i can do this, it would help a lot :) Cheers Gil

hello, i need to do the following. i have a device that will try to load a webpage using the following url, for example: http://192.168.8.34//Examples/RNA/addEntry.html?IP=192.168.8.34&MAC=00-05-5D -F0-FE-D4&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fcnn.com%2F note that it references an actual web page since it must have the .html extension. i cannot have it point directly to a dtml method. i must use a web page to process the request. when zope processes the request, i want the web page to call a python method to process the url parameter list. i know how to do this if the url did not have to point to a web page using dtml method. i tried to modify a copy of the guest book example but i could not. perhaps you might be able to help me. thanks, dave

Just to let people know, I solved my problem of changing a folder name and catching old links to it. Indirect thanks must go to Casey Duncan who posted something to this list saying that python scripts halt traversal so they can populate their 'traverse_subpath' binding. I got things working by creating the script below with the old name of the folder ('cfhl' in this case). Hi Toby I always thought that the object cache was per thread! If you're right then you are exactely correct and I have to up the cache accordingly. This exact Test is running at the moment so I'm curious what the results will be ;-) Zope 2.6.x ist still way off on my hosts ;-) Since you're using -t 2 on your Zopes are you also using ZEO? Hi Jens I knew of the 7 thread limit of the DB connections but I wanted to make sure. The tests are nearly finished and I have bad news. As it appears the values for -t and -i are extremely dependant on the type of hardware used and the type of coding (mainly static or manny loops,.-..). E.g. I have noticed, that when using 20 concurrent users the max time for an answer was generally lower when using -t 3 than when using -t 7 (2%-28% faster)! This was a totally unexpected result. As I said before this seems to be a really individual thing. This means that I have to do the same tests on my production system (taking it down for that time), which means LONG nights :-( Now I'm going to test the effect of the Object Cache and -if time allows- the RAM & other caches of Zope. I hope that the performance curve there is a little more predictable.... ;-) regards Oliver Erlewein
