Found this in history. - Set up outgoing mail capability to allow for online forms to be sent electronically to departmental lotus notes addresses for processing. No more printing and faxing. A Exchange service id was requested through the bank's email and collaboration services department. Changes then had to be made to Zope internals to allow for passing of userid and password to the secure mail server. (see /opt/Zope/lib/python/Products/MailHost/MailHost.py, /opt/Zope/lib/python/Products/Mailhost/dtml/addMailHost_form.dtml and manageMailHost.dtml -- also smtplib.py in the Python distribution had to be modified) NOTE: This is used on a Zope 2.3 w/ Python separate /opt/Python/Lib/smtplib.py(See attached file: smtplib.py) /opt/zope/lib/python/Products/MailHost (See attached file: MailHost.zip) (zipped on windoze w/ powerarchive) I didn't set it up... I only know it works. You may only need certain files from the MailHost.zip file I sent. Remember to backout in case of backout! Disect the code and change for your Mailserver requirements. MySQL connection dropping

For those of you who saw this on the Zope-OSX list, this is an update on my first email... I have installed Zope 2.5.1, MySQL 3.23.49, and Z MySQLDA on Macintosh OS X Server 10.1.4. I've created a Z MySQL Database Connection, and I have several dtml pages created that are connecting to the database successfully. (I copied these from someone else who has been running Zope/MySQL for years). The problem: The Z MySQL database connection drops as soon as I close my ssh connection (I'm restarting Zope from the command line remotely), and the only way to get it back is to restart Zope. Zope is already running as a background process, and so is the MySQL daemon and they both work fine independantly. I do not yet have them starting up as OS X services. Can someone point me in the right direction on this? Also, I've never been able to restart Zope from the Control Panel-->Restart button. I have to do it always from the command-line. We run a mailserver called "kiowa.bankofamerica.com" (internal only) It doesn't required authentication Another Zope site we maintain hooks to an Exchange server that requires authentication (UID+PW) Ask you Mailserver sa what is needed. I have code that will allow auth. if you need it. I have set up a Mail Host with the correct SMTP server information, but I keep getting a connection refused error. Do I have to run a Mail server on the machine that Zope is running on? getPhysicalRoot() method

Hi, I want to get the QUERY_STRING, so I can use it for my <dtml-with> loop. I heard from Max that you can traverse Zope with a path from code directly. You have to use the restrictedTraverse() method.. Asuming that: QUERY_STRING='path/to/training' You can just do it like: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('training', getPhysicalRoot().restrictedTraverse(QUERY_STRING))"> <dtml.with training> ... etc. But the getPhysicalRoot() method gives me a NameError: NameError: global name 'getPhysicalRoot' is not defined So I tried the following: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('training', ROOT().restrictedTraverse(QUERY_STRING))"> Where ROOT is a Python Script in the Root of Zope that does the following: return container But 'training' now is an <Application instance at 91b6bf0>. Actually, I like the FastSiteSearch (http://www.zope.org/Members/Ioan/FastSiteSearch) better since I need to put a search engine on an old Zope 2.3 site that doesn't have Python Scripts installed. This is a Production site with 32000 hits a month by 200+ users They rely heavily on Yihaw Directory Product. Is there a way to configure the 3 (FastSiteSearch) objects to find Yihaw Folders and other Yihaw objects via meta-data and (better yet) the content of the Yihaw object? Right now, the problem is the ZCatalog doesn't do a good job on finding numerics (i.e. check number 1234, etc). Performance tests

Hi all Just wanted to post my first findings on Zope performance and the -t & -i options. We are currently testing on a SUN Solaris (Sparc) with Zope 2.4.4 and Python 2.1.3. First tests have shown, that increasing from -t 7 to -t 15 (constant -i). Has no aparent effect on processing speed. This can naturally depend on many things but I think our Test is quite comprehensive and the speed differences we did see were in the max about 1-2% increase or decrease. More later. Oliver Erlewein

Out of Memory Error with ExternalFile

hi folks, I've run into a problem using Zope 2.6.1a1 and ExternalFile 1.0.1 on Alpha/OSF. I have added an ExternalFile object which points to a tar file about 80MB in size. It correctly sets content-type application/x-tar, but when I try to download the file using the Zope object I get an "Out of memory" error from Zope. The file is accessible by zope and lives in a subdirectory called "extfile" within the zope installation. Python Version 2.1.3 with bigger thread stack size patch applied.
