Hi, does anyone know pf a product / a possibility to measure the time it takes a site to get loaded (we have included an applet)? Is it possible to analyse the Z2.log-File? How? Thanks, Eddie. Content-Length bug in Image.py?

We've been having some difficulty with image-performance on one of our servers and have traced the problem to the Content-Length header returned by Zope as part of a 304 response. We're running Zope 2.5.1 through Apache 1.3.26 and pcgi. When a request is made to the server with an appropriate Is-Modified-Since header the code in lib/python/OFS/Image.py sets the Content-Length to the length of the image data but returns an empty string. My reading of the HTTP/1.1 spec suggests this is an error, see quote below: "If a Content-Length header field (section 14.13) is present, its decimal value in OCTETs represents both the entity-length and the transfer-length. The Content-Length header field MUST NOT be sent if these two lengths are different". So, we've patched our server by commenting out the line that sets the Content-Length and our problem goes away. Is this a bug in 2.5.1 or have I misunderstood something? I'm slightly concerned because this bit of code is commented as follows: # Set header values since apache caching will return Content-Length # of 0 in response if size is not set here I can confirm that this is true, but don't understand why this should be deemed a problem - no data is being returned. For those interested, our problem is that we have a firewall (well known brand I think) that seems to cause the connections to hang for a about 10s each time a 304 request for an image from one of our Zope servers passes through it. As a result, graphic pages are fast the first time you hit them (due to 200 responses) but deadly slow from then on! Before I go patching my other servers, I thought I'd post here in case it was a known problem and/or I've done something stupid. Steve

PIL errors

When trying to create thumbnails from images using the Zope book example, I get an IOError. This occurs when the image I am trying to thumbnail is larger than about 200k. Smaller images work fine. The error occurs after the: image = Image.open(.....) statement. Any statement after that starting with image.xxxxxxxx will give the error. Exact syntax from zope is: Error Type: IOError Error Value: image file is truncated, 15 bytes left in buffer with the amount of bytes changing depending on the image size. Is this a PIL error or is something wrong with getting the object from Zope ( using getattr(objectID) ) Could it be the: original_file = StringIO(original_image.data) call and the StringIO object is faulty? dtml trees

Hi all, I've just found dtml-tree's, and have managed to get a list of categories out of my database tabled together no problems. This makes me wonder.... I have a Database with this structure.... Forms + Students + Student Certificates + Certificate Skills (these are all tables with linked fields, so you can drill down through these four items). Is it possible to use a dtml-tree to join these items? I presume the magic only works if the tree item links back on itself! or is there a way to acheive this? Any pointers, before I spend hours trying to acheive something that cannot be done, would be much appreciated!! No stack trace returned on XMLRPC call

I'm calling a PythonScript via xmlrpc and an error is being returned that includes HTML with the error type and value but no stack trace. I've no idea if this is correct behaviour or a bug or a misconfiguration but it's really annoying me as I have no idea how to reproduce the error inside zope where I do get stack traces. The zope instance is running on w2k with -D option and I get stack traces in the HTML with normal webrequests (assuming they cause an exception). Is this a bug or what?

feature request: change permissions of selected objects

Dear zope, I would be grateful if somebody could help me with a problem: I want to be able to change the permissions of several zope objects at the same time. I am a medic and run a wiki under zope (mathis.heydtmann.de/WikiLiver) which has some pages I want my students to edit (I use the same Wiki as presentation tool, as lecturenotes and as alternative of handouts). But there are also some pages (for example drug dosages) which I don't want people to edit. I have now about 100 pages which I want to write protect in that way. An elegant solution would be being able to click on the pages, then have a button at the botton (like the one "rename") which leads to the normal Zope Security display to set the permissions for all of the selected pages. (In my context a button for print selected pages would also be useful.) I suppose other people would like to do similar things and I would be grateful if somebody could help me with it. I have an optional field name "zipcode" in my form whose type is an integer. I keep getting an Error: "Invalid integer value for zipcode" whenever this field is not fill out by the user.
