If I get a lot of good comments on this I'll make it a little how to on zope.org What *nix is best to use with Zope? For dev and desktop I personally prefer Mandrake, but what I like becomes irrelevant when it's time to set up a serious server for production use. What matters then is: - performance - configurability - ease-of-use and lack of hacks - integration with RDBMS - backup possibilities - ZEO (load balancing and caching). Does anybody have any real experience of production deployment with various *nix'es. Which ones are better than other and which ones to avoid. The "ease-of-use and lack of hacks" is important to me since I'm just an experienced *nix user. Far from expert. Thank you, Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Zope Binary Release Changes for Zope 2.6

Zope is currently released in three binary formats: Windows - i386 Solaris 2.6 - SPARC Linux RH 5.2 - i386 All binary releases come with python 2.1.3, built without large file support. We are proposing to change the binary distributions to newer releases, at least on the Solaris and Linux platforms. The new Solaris binary would be Solaris 2.8. The new Linux binary would be RedHat 7.2 based (i.e. glibc 2.1). It is very likely that the supplied Pythons would be built with large file support *enabled* for these platform, unless some unforseen compatibility issue arose. If there are requirements for keeping the binary distributions based on the older software, we need to understand these requirements. Hy, after upgrading ExternalEditor to 0.3 I get this error. Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unsubscriptable object when pressing the pencil behind the objects. After Downgrading to 0.2 it's again working regards Harald

Has there been any changes to structured text?

I have moved a site from 2.33 to 2.51 a while ago, and now the customer is complaining that stx dosn't work anymore. Especially the tables. So I wondered if there is new docs anywhere that I can see. regards Max M "klaatu verata niktu"

proxypass and squishdot

Hey all.. I've finally got proxypass happening, and I'm running into a little snag with my existing squishdot sites... Everywhere on the site the proxypass rules work great, but in squishdot it likes to put in two slashes, like so: http://www.starrave.org//discussion/1029622610/index_html Anyone seen this before... DTMLFile, the mysterious animal

Can somebody explain to me what really happens when I have a method in my product like DTMLFile('www/main.dtml', globals(), filter='Image'). My problem is that I want to modify the stock main.dtml in order to show only a subset of contained objects, so I change the line <dtml-in objectItems ...> to <dtml-in "objectItems(filter)" ...> and now I get a TypeError, "object of type 'list' is not callable" I know that something like OrderedFolder etc. might do what I want, but I'm curious about what really happens here. cheers, oliver

ref another file while adding file in ZMI

Rather than have to upload a file while adding a file object using ZMI, how can I refer to another existing file in the object tree? I tried putting "/root/refs/quotes/file1" in the File box but the file that was added had a mime type of application/octet-stream and worked ok once I set the mime type to text/html. Why didn't it pick up on the fact that file1 is text/html itself? I could copy the file but am trying to learn... -Patrick Price

dtml-tree problems

I'm trying to make a threaded discussion board for myself and am having some problems with the tree function. I'd like tree to list the contents of each discussion folder out in a table format, with one message listing per table row. However, tree doesn't like being inside the table and spits the results out after the </table> tag. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Also, does the Zope mailing list not accept messages from Hotmail? My last 3 postings have not shown up on the list. Davis
