I guess it's enough to let them know what advantages and disadvantages each browser has and not forcing them to choose one browser. After all, everybody is free of doing what he wants. Depends on the DB, also. As far as I know, MySQL does not allow sub-selects like this. If I need something like this, I first create the query to handle the sub-select and then include in the place with a dtml-var. The Zope Bible is one of those 'lots of screen shots" little content book although there are folk who recommmended it. The ZWADACM book has lots of useful information but it's an overview at a system level not about the guts. The Books of Zope it an intro tutorial, cluttered with some screen shots, but with examples... Dieter Maurer's three chapters are more useful than the lot. Download them from www.handshake.de. They explain the ideas and principles rather than glossing over the hard parts ... There, that's a bit more comprehensible.. 1

Hi! Here some questions about Zope3: I asked them on the wiki[1] but noone replied 1. What version of ZODB does Zope3X use? 2. Which Python version will be recuired? 3. What changes will be done to the PropertyManager? 4. Will the class Folder store the content in BTree's? (BTreeFolder2) 5. Which changes will be done to ZCatalog? 6. Will the UserManagement be changed so that a role can include another role? 7. What changes will be done to the Permissions? 8. How useable is Zope3? 9. How can I store Properties which should be common to all instances of a class? If you must use Windows, get Cygwin. Linux is a more developer-friendly environment even if you are just starting out.

Many thanks to all and sorry for delay, we leave homes and our army saves our souls :) We are today in back and have here "big water", 100m from me is absolutely new, 60km^2 sized ocean with brown water. Pound seems to be fantastic. But how to make virtual domains (name-based webs) with pound? Or it is only feature of apache (as in www.zope.org\Members\mwr\VHosts_With_Zope_Default)? VHM & Squid Problems

I have partitioned my server into a collection of sites using the VHM and Squid and a custom URL rewriter. At the hightest level I have the_net <=> SQUID <=> Zope The Zope space is split into a few sites which are independent SQUID <=> (site a) <--these share similar naming a-foo-... (site b) b-foo-... (site c) and the rolocation is to the 'foo' name For safety, SQUID runs on port 80 and zope on port 8080 and looks only at localhost. The rewriter takes URLs of the form http://xx/yy and rewrites them to http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/xx/VirtualHostRoot/yy per the spec. This seems to work. However, when the site begins generating requests, they are all relative to the VirtualHostRoot and so are not found. I suppose another set of rewrite rules will solve the problem--but am I missing some crutial part of the VHM setup? -dra
