Getting select contents from parent object

Hello, I have an object with properties, and I would like to add to it a select-box as a property. However, I want the possible selections to be defined by a containing object. That sounds sort of confusing, so let me provide an example: In my Zope instance, I have a folderish object, 'apples'. The 'apples' folder has a function, 'list_apple_types', which returns a list: ['good', 'bad', 'red', 'granny']. Now I want to create an apple object and put it in this folder. When I create the apple object, I want to be able to give it a select property where the function that returns the list of possible selections is the 'list_apple_types' folder of the parent folder. The reason I want to do it this way is so that I only have to define that list once, and if I add a new type of apple to the list ('rotten'), then I don't have to go through and add this new possible select value to all of the apple objects in the apples folder. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I have been playing around and reading the docs, but I can't find a way to do this. Thanks very much, VanL

Getting results of External Method

Hi all, I have an External Method that parses a file and put the title, body, list of links, list of images into a dictionary. How do I now go about getting the info out of this dictionary? If I do a <dtml-var "filescript(REQUEST)"> it gives me the dictionary itself : {'title': 'Industrial Co-ordination Office', 'links': 'applications', 'index', 'partnershipweblinks', 'breakthroughs', 'pdf/applications.pdf', 'presentation', 'presentation', 'services', 'collaboration', 'workshop', 'documentation', 'techniques', 'techniques', 'pdf/techniques.pdf', , 'body':\r\n\r\n Beamlines\r\n\r\n (etc, etc), 'images': ['img/red.gif', 'img/indcodiv44.gif']} How do I get the value of each dictionary key back and how do I get rid of those horrible '\r\n\r\n". If I do a dtml-in it tells me that I cannot do a dtml-in with strings. dtml-sqlvar and \n

I ran into a little inconvenience with <dtml-sqlvar spam type="string"> where spam is like "spam \n eggs" (as string, not the charcter). sql_quote escapes this to "spam \\n eggs", which is not actually what I want. Is this intended and if, why? And is there a workaround other then usin <dtml-var>? MfG MFvM

LocalFS File Criteria

Hello all. I have a couple of questions that involves LocalFS. 1.-I'm able to display the list of files that are in my LocalFS directory in dtml. How can I display the files the same way as I can see them in my localFS, I mean not just list the files but link them to the real file so the browser can deal with it. I was thinking of getting the attributes of the file and create a link in the dtml document to the real file, but it seems to be a cheap solution, what do you think? is there a better way to do it. 2.-Is there a way I can only display(list) the files following some criteria. I mean, for example to do something like 'ls *.pdf' or specifically a name, this in order to display just the files that the user wants. How can I do it? thanks in advance Gerardo Amaya

Using Zope for Development, but export result as plain HTML?

Hi, I've found many situations where I'd like to do a certain project in Zope, because it is much simpler to do automated menu's, content management and such, but there's no Zope support on the customer's server. Does anybody use Zope for develop Sites, but export them afterwards as HTML? If yes, what are the things somebody should take care of and how to export a Zope site properbly? Best regards, Timo

Random ZServer exceptions

Hi all Continuing my personal sage of woes with zpt+sql+python here are some details.
