Hi, I'm thinking of building web application for a property company. This property company has staffs who works as agent for the company. The company is thinking to have a portal which can do following: -The agents can customize his/her own page -> agentA.propertyPortal.com or agentB.propertyPortal.com -The agents can post pictures of his/her properties in his working directory/page. Basically each agent has an independent portal solution which include search capabilities. -But if the user logon to the main portal which is www.propertyPortala.com the user can search entire properties of the whole agents. My questions: -If I use Zope, shall I use CMF? -Would it be enough to build this type of application only knowing: DTML and Python? Can someone judge how long this will take? product interdependancies

I've been developing an architect's intranet system for myself for the past few months and am about ready to productize it. My problem is that my product seems to now be dependant on a large number of other products that I installed over the last few months to try out ... meaning, I installed these other packages just to see what they did (but didn't use them in my intranet), and now I can't remove them without breaking my own product. When I made my ZClasses, I used ZCatalog:Catalog Aware, ZClasses:Object Manager, and the Zope persistent object base classes. Is there any way to remove the interdependancies to other products? I've tried exporting my product and reimporting it in a clean Zope but it doesn't work. Davis

ZODB packing error

Hi! I have an installation of Zope 2.5.1 with EasyPublisher 1.7.3 on top, on a Solaris 2.7 platform. looking up a folders property value from a python script

DocumentLibrary, KebasData and https

Hi again, Here is what I have been able to do to get DocumentLibrary to work with https, but I still need help as you will see. Sorry in advance for my verbosity. I have two Zopes: both 2.5.1 on FreeBSD4.3 one installed from binaries and running the bundled Python; one installed from sources running Python 2.1.3 compiled prior to installing Zope I checked for the SSL: bundled python: not found compiled python: <built-in function ssl> Try to import https document into each zope: Document submission error (similar to below, but without the line beginning with 'Error Message:') Then I changed Document.py: class DocURLopener(urllib.FancyURLopener) to use class DocURLopener(urllib.URLopener) (changed all occurances of FancyURLopener to URLopener) and in line 491 of def manage_upload added 'https' to list of acceptable protocols. Attempted to add a https document to each zope. Result: it worked in the zope using SSL-enabled python, but failed in the zope using bundled python. The following message is a dtml method returned by DocumentLibrary: --- Document Submission Error The URL you specified for the document could not be submitted because: An error occurred while attempting to connect to https://foo.bar.com/baz Error Message: [Errno url error] unknown url type: 'https' To correct this problem try the following: Confirm that you can access the URL as entered using your web browser. My site makes extensive use of KebasData. Before upgrading to 2.5.1 KebasData was causing Zope to crash a lot. It seemed to be barfing at some of my regular expressions, at which I am far from expert. When I switched to 2.5.1 in desparation, this problem went away. Well, with the SSL-enabled zope, it's back. Which doesn't mean that it is caused by the availability of the ssl, of course. So that's it. I need those https documents, and it would be great if KebasData could also do https (I had sacrificed that for the stability). Now, any ideas? Thanks to all, Ken

CMF1.3 private showing to anonymous

I have been having some trouble with security lately. I took folder out of the workflow process after some people suggested this due to strange behavior. I guess it sneaks if you did an upgrade from a earlier version of CMF. It seems that all was working fine and I don't recall making changes to the site, but must have in some way. Anyway, now when someone adds an item to the site and leaves it private, it shows for "anonymous" users anyway. If I look at the document created, anonymous has view rights. What happens when something gets created then published by default? I had it in my head that I wanted everyone to see all published items. To do this I thought that anonymous should have VIEW starting at the root of the CMF. Is this right? If so, how them is the PRIVATE item hidden...no VIEW rights or by being marked "Private" -Confused

Newbie: Case independent URLs?

Hi, I am new to Zope. It seems all url's in Zope are case dependant. Is this correct? Can I change it? I want family to be able to get to my photo album by entering www.mysite.com/FamilyAlbum/ or www.mysite.com/familyAlbum/ or www.mysite.com/Familyalbum/ or www.mysite.com/familyalbum/ Is there a standard technique for dealing with this? I tried searching the archives, but could not find relevant information (my poor searching ability I am sure). I am running Zope behind Apache on Win2k server. Thanks for the help. - Robert

Zsql/DTML help needed

Dear Zope Community, I am a zope newbie and enjoying it! I am helping someone build a database for storing musical scores. I am using ZSQL and trying to figure out how to do the following: I want to do some inserts then a SELECT and then run some DTML on the result to wrap the result with html. This all needs to happen from one html form. The inserts and the select is on metadata pertaining to some an external file, which needs to get created during this process. My ZSQL inserts the metadata into the database and creates an ID. I want to use this ID as the file name.
