Newbie needs a little help (Dynamic SELECTS and Formulator)

Hi, hope someone has the patience and skill to give me a nice answer on this... The situation is that I want to make a form for entering data into a database, - There should be 3 SELECT:s on the top which should give some properties of the entered data. - I The trick is that these SELTECs are dependent on each other. ie. Selecting alternative 1 from the first select should (by using ONCHANGE) change the possible alternatives of the second box. - The alternatives are easy to extract from the database and I have a ZSQL method for doing that, but my problem is getting the thing to work in Formulator. - I have a method that returns the item list for Select 2 accepting as an argument the current selected value of Select2, but I cannot seem to find the way to pass this value from the Form. Whatever I do in Formulator I end up with an undefined variable. Surely this way of doing dataentry cannot be that unusual???? Good Morning, I find this example in the list archieves and I'm having trouble getting it to work. VirtualHostMonster question: URL in location bar

Hi all I followed the ZopeBook Virtual Hosting examples without any problem: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/VirtualHosting.… but I'm still puzzled about one thing. The ZopeBook says: At this point, you're probably wondering just how in the world any of this helps you. You're certainly not going to ask people to use their browser to visit a URL like http://yourserver.com//VirtualHostBase/http/zope.com/vhm_test/VirtualHostRo… just so your Zope-generated URLs will be "right". So OK, Apache rewrites dev.myserver.com to 192.168.1.2/.../Virtual... and Zope generates the correct URL in the page source, BUT the URL in the browser Location bar is still the long, ugly, VHM URL. So now I'm still wondering "just how in the world any of this helps " me. How do I get the location bar to show the un-rewritten URL? Should I add a SiteRoot to my Zope folder? Hello zope, i would like to implement IPython's shell in medusa. where should i look for? whats the loop for the medusa monitor's client which gives the python prompt? i didnt manage to find it ... only some select.select statement that is a bit mystical to me right now. :) thanks, k -- don't believe everything you think

Howdy -- I am trying to install Zope-2.5.1, my OpenBSD-2.8, with Python-2.1.3, and it is failing? I did see an older post about using the a (thread) lib from OpenBSD-2.7 but I don't have 2.7? Is their another work around? TIA, David --

Using Xul

I'am trying to use xul-files. Running it in the browser it works fine, calling an dtml-document with the contents of the xul-file it doesn't work right. The pagesource is ok. Is there a naming convention for the xul-files or something else? Axel

Document Conversion

Hello All, I just need some suggestions on where to get started with document conversion and generation. I a currently using ReportLab to output PDF documents. I would like to be able to output in other formats as well. ie....Word(stupid M$), plain text, etc.... Can anyone help me out here? I too, really like the Appro boxes (I'm using a a variety of them, 1124S, 1124i, 1224X). Perhaps look at the Appro 1124i, 1U/DualAMD/cold-swap-ide). This box may be marketed under different names by different resellers; they are very reasonably priced for what you get. They have excellent cooling, and are well-built; they use a commodity Taiwanese Mainboard (Tyan Thunder K7) in a somewhat-proprietary-but-designed-around-that-board chassis. The nice thing about this setup is you can buy boxed Tyan mainboards as shelved-spares. The resellers of these boxes, though, are the ones who are going to provide support, so keep that in mind. Appro is essentially just a manufacturer (though you can buy direct from them). If you went the AMD route, I would strongly suggest against a DIY approach; cooling is a serious issue. Intel Xeon Prestonia boxes run very cool (we have Appro 1224X boxes, and the exhaust is not even warm). For an idea about cooling on AMD servers, Appro's 1124 AMD servers have excellent cooling, but the exhaust is decently warm; anything less than marvelous cooling would likely fry your dual AMD box. If you want to go the DIY approach, you can get all the components you would need for building a box, but I would suggest going the P4-Xeon route, and get a MB with good environment sensors drivers, and buy a case with the best cooling you can find. Bottom line: AthlonMP offers the best value proposition compared to Xeon, but make sure your cooling is done right if you go this route. We run Debian on all our boxes. With our newest setup, we plan to run multiple Zope ZEO client instances on each 2P/1U web-server box, tied to one CPU each - each bound to an IP with a dedicated 100MB 3com on-board Ethernet port that our front-end squid-cache proxy server(s) connects to. We connect on the back-end via switched Copper GB Ethernet to our 1U ZSS boxes (which have on-board Intel Pro 1000 GB port and a hardware raid card in their single PCI slot). If you are running Linux, you may want to investigate CPU affinity patches to the kernel to avoid the SMP penalty you might incur with a single Zope instance wandering across CPUs.
