I'm glad this thread was started, because I was wondering about memory consumption on my win2k machine running one instance. It seems to start off using between 25-30 megs. Now it's sitting at 38 megs. When I login or access certain folders like the root, it goes up between 70-90 megs. It takes along time for met to access the root folder. I only have 10-15 objects in the root. Overall I use win2k on a athlon 500 with 130 megs. I know I should be running linux, but I'm also running oracle personal that is only taking up 7 megs of ram idle as comparted to Zopes 38 megs. I had trouble trying to get oracle to run on linux and it's only temporary while I finish my oracle training. I've tried the call profiler, but it doesn't seem to work with the fsobjects. So I can only test regular dtml and python scripts. I guess I'm suppose to set an enviroment varible in NT to turn on the internal profiler. If you ask me, I'd agree you need to look at buying more RAM and possibly a ZEO thing if you plan to have that many instances running. From what I see that ram usage can go up 3x. zope and win ce browsers

for reasons that aren't clear to me, I can see NONE of the changes I made to my standard header using a ce 2.11 browser. the changes were nothing to brag about. just baby steps. I'm confused. they show up fine on ie6.

DCOracle2 and Clob object problem

Hi! I have problem with dcoracle 2 and clob object. I'm working under: Zope Version (Zope 2.5.1 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.3, linux2) Python Version 2.1.3 (#1, Apr 15 2002, 11:13:45) [GCC 2.7.2.3] System Platform linux2 (RedHat 7.1) When i'm testing function (which is below) under win 2000 it works properly, but under RedHat7.2 it prints "None" as a data object, but when i print object ala, i see : [[<LobLocator object at 0x8b59ab8>]] so i'm sure that there is an clob object. This is my test function. I think method "read()" does't work properly under linux? zpt, metal and missing content objects (bit long)

zpt users, I don't have much experience with zpts, but my experiments this morning aren't really throwing up good things so far. My main problems seem to stem from METAL, which I want to use to mimic the behaviour <dtml-var standard_html_header/footer>. So, I have a zpt called 'standard_template' in my root folder. It defines a whole page macro called 'page' which in turn has a slot defined within it called 'body'. Next, I setup a zpt somewhere else to store content, that acquires the 'standard_template' zpt and uses it in the following way: <html metal:use-macro="container/standard_template/macros/page"> <head> <title tal:content="here/title">Title Inserted</title> </head> <body> <div metal:fill-slot="body"> <p>This is the real content of this content object. I've had to go through a lot to get it here! All I really want in this object is this one paragraph, not all the zpt shenanigans.</p> </div> </body> </html> Ok, so this works out fine. But... ... what if I want to make some global changes to my site? What if I want to add a heading (on every page) right after my <body> tag, and I want it to be the title of the zpt (not 'standard_template', but that using it). Doing the following doesn't seem to work when put in 'standard_template' as 'here' is not what I want when being accessed within a macro. <body> <h1 tal:content="here/title">title inserted here</h1> It seems to me, that the only way I could achieve this would be to put that text into every individual zpt holding content. I can't believe this is right, so what am I missing? It strikes me that what I really want is a simple object that when rendered, has 'standard_template' called as a method of it. In this case, I'd only need to store the real content in the object, without all the zpt markup. I also wouldn't need METAL, macros, slots etc. I'd just use TAL to insert things into my 'standard_template' (perhaps based on properties of the content object). Even better, I would then have one (and only one) place where the site layout is defined, so I could make global changes very easily. I've hacked together an example of just such a content object, but it's hardly production ready, and I'm also constrained to use only those objects packaged as part of the base zope installation (2.5.1 in this case). At the back of my mind, I can't help thinking that I must have the wrong end of the stick. Most people seem very positive about zpt and apparently use it very successfully. It seems to me that the product is missing one final object that would actually make it work perfectly. Hoping-for-enlightenment-ly yours, tim (of the non-Peters variety ;-) )

Issue tracking systems for Zope?

I am looking for an issue/bug tracking for Zope that should be (highly) customizable (additionals fields for an issue must be added easily without too much changes inside the application code and presentation). In addition there should be support for a relational database. Are there any usable products beyond IssueTracker, CMFCollector or ZShrink? Cheers, Andreas

Rendering other objects with python script

I'm wondering how I can get the rendering that DocumentTemplates seem to apply automatically with Python Scripts: <dtml-var "_['testname']"> return getattr(context,"testname") gives me "<Folder instace ...>" Trying to augment it with: return getattr(context,"testname")() or return getattr(context,"testname")(request) only gives me KeyErrors too :( Andreas

Hi!! ...if I choose to encrypt the password, and then I ask to receive te password by mail I receive the encrypted password. I think that a better way for "I forgot my password" id this: - create a new password - send it clear by mail and save it encrypted... ...better ideas? Bye, Cristian
