ZPT & passing around options...

Hello All... I have a problem that I haven't found a 'good' solution for. I use what I cann RPZN (Reverse Polish Zope Notation) when developing sites. RPZN is where you use one master template index_html in the root of your zope install. Thist master index_html file provides the layout for the entire site and includes (in my case) at least one reference like this: <div tal:content="structure here/content" class="content"> Content </div> This way each folder you create needs to only have a 'content' object (either a file, DTML Method or Document), which includes only the content for that folder. This makes adding to the site really easy. Want more content, add a folder, create a 'content' object and fill it in. The entire site look'n'feel is maintained in one place and that's /index_html. This has worked great for some time, until now. :-( Because of my design, in a Python script I need to call something like: return container.content(variable1="sometxt", var2=["text1","text2"]) This ends up calling the local content, without the surrounding site look'n'feel, <html> tags ... and the rest ... which is bad ... And ... calling index_html like so: return container.index_html(variable1="sometxt", var2=["text1","text2"]) (line may be wrapped) works fine wrt the site loook'n'feel and structure and all ... but the variables I pass into index_html get passed to the local content object, which is what I need to do. Anyone know how to do this? I spent some time looking around and I couldn't find an answer. Help! Thanks in advance ... I'd be happy to clarify anything above if it helps. --EAM

Is it possible to pass output from tinytables to a zsql method?

Hi there, For a couple of days a try to pass output from a tinytable to a zsql method without any success because the variables exist only during the looping... Tinytable: name: contents columns: content begin_art end_art Looping: <dtml-in contents> <a href=wet_query><dtml-var content> <dtml-var begin_art> <dtml-var eind_art></a><BR> </dtml-in> Zsql method: wet_query select * from <dtml-var id> where artnr >= <dtml-sqlvar begin_art type="string"> and artnr <= <dtml-sqlvar end_art type="string"> Does someone know how i can pass <dtml-var begin_art> and <dtml-var end_art> to the zsql method? I strongly considered this option at one time with a shared DAS/RAID between my primary and secondary ZSS. I never ended up doing this because of concerns. Out of curiosity, with shared storage over SCSI/SAN, do you have any thoughts on how to overcome the following issues? 1 - Data fencing (using SAN switches+integrated software, or STONITH devices, or something)?? 2 - Clean up a broken FileStorage? To what degree can this be successfully automated without manual intervention of a sysadmin? 3 - Deal with accidental damage to the storage done by the primary node, perhaps due to asynchronous writes to the file? It really seems like replication is really a less brittle option (though how much less brittle, I'm not sure). Though not committed at this point, for a big project I am working on, I am strongly considering use of DirectoryStorage and its snapshot capabilities for low-tech replication (via find+cpio+nfs) to try and minimize issues I might face similar to #2 and #3 if I had chosen FileStorage. Adding mixin class does not work with Python 2.2/Zope 2.5.1

I have a class that overrides the __bobo_traverse__ method to put parts of the URL into request variables. I'm not sure when it broke, but it isn't working in my Python 2.2/Zope 2.5.1 setup. A simple example that breaks is as follows: from OFS.Folder import Folder class TraversableObject: pass class TraversableFolder(TraversableObject, Folder): pass I get an error message about an empty or missing docstring even when putting an empty class in front of Folder in the superclass list. Changing External Python Methods

Hello, I'm fiddling arround with some External Python Methods and I have to admit that it is a real pain to debug those Methods - at least I did not found a reasonable way. It makes me really crazy ist the fact that it seems that Zope just caches the first version of the file which I putted into the Extensions directory and later changes are simply ignored. For instance I just try to do some processing onto an image named bland.gif which is in the same folder of ZMI as the External Method. I've got a. Error Type: IOError Error Value: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'bland.gif' Well, besides the fact that I would like to know how to reference those files I really want to know why the following code stolen from http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1010702887 works def MakeThumbHi2(self, image="test"): oriImage = self.restrictedTraverse(image) oriFile = cStringIO.StringIO(oriImage.data) image = PIL.Image.open(oriFile) image.thumbnail(100, 100) image_type = image.format thumbnailImage = cStringIO.StringIO() image.save(thumbnailImage, image_type) thumbnailImage.seek(0) return thumbnailImage.getvalue() and if I just replace my very own External Method by just this code snipped (please note: there is no string 'bland.gif' in it - it was just in my former broken code) I get the very same error message with the missing file 'bland.gif'. It seems that there is something cached and I would like to know how to get the changed version into this cache. Moreover it would be nice to enlighten me about some other way to reference files in the same ZMI folder from External Methods besides this way to ship a parameter. Kind regards Andreas.

CoreSessionTrackung KeyError ?

Hi, I'm running Zope 2.3.3 with CoreSessionTracking 0.9. After working for hours in a Zope Session I got sometimes an KeyError. I don't know how many other users working on my zope at the same time, but this KeyError was reported from at least 1 other users. Has anybody a hint what to change ? IPython question with zope

so ... my problem is .... i want to use the medusa monitor of zope ... with ipython .. ipython is cool it contains lots of useful stuff like tab completion for everything, dumping of objects, etc but the problem is ipython doesnt echo to my terminal the stuff what the monitor client echoes .. only when i press ctrl-c, it ouputs everything in a bunch like this: Output messages. Accessing MS Exchange/Outlook through Zope

Hi, Our corporate standard is to use MS Outlook as our email system (please keep the laughter down to a minimum). I was able to use the mailhost portion of Zope and can send email via our Internet provider. One of the project they are contemplating will require some type of emailing. They wish for the whole company to be on this through email. Is there a way to tie in our Exchange server so they can see everyone email address? Thanks. redirect request and the options property

I have a python script that redirects the browser to a ZPT like this: return context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(request.URL1 + '/myPage') I woluld like to pass an argument to the ZPT that will be accessible through the 'options' property like this: <p tal:condition="options/errorMessage | nothing" tal:content="options/errorMessage">Error message</p> Is there a way to use the RESPONSE object to set the 'options' property before the redirect? Is the 'options' property user-accessible (writable) at all? Another related issue: how can I redirect to a ZPT passing all form properties from the current request like in the following pattern: HTML Form page -> action script that redirects -> Form handling page Thanks in advance. --Borislav
