Collaborative syncing?

Hi all, I was install and try Zsync (latest on Zope 251/W32), it is nice, but I do not know to make simple sync in case when source and target was changed each different file and have some files more or deleted. It is possible to do that sync? Source | Destination development | web document editing -------------------------------------------- file1 overwrite file1 newer file2 copy file3 file3 file4 will be copied to source, not deletet from Dest! file5 newer file5 overwrite -------------------------------------------- Zsyncer will delete file4. It is possible to COPY that file onto source? Syncing that webs with today status of Zsyncer needs lot of configuring. It seems, that it still have problems with timezones (Windows95CZosr2/Windows2000-Metaframe). Do you have any tips? Thanks, J. Lukesh

catalogaware zpt

I've got another question about zpts. Does anybody have a good way of making content stored in a zpt catalogaware? I'm presuming that there's nothing out-of-the-box here. Actually, given zpts of the following form (used throughout a site), where 'BLAH' is the true content of the object: <html metal:use-macro="here/standard_template/macros/master"> <head> <title>title</title> </head> <body> <div metal:fill-slot="main"> BLAH </div> <br> </body> </html> and say I managed to get this working with the catalog. Am I right in thinking that every time I do a catalog query for the string 'title', I'll actually receive results for every zpt in the catalog because it appears within the <title /> tags? tim

What you should do, IMHO, is to return values from the script to the caller (probably a DTML document or method, in this case), and then that caller can handle any further calls to other dtml methods. This approach keeps Python processing separate from dtml processing, which is GOOD. Mixing them up tends to lead to later confusion or obscure problems. It could (potentially at least) also cause unreleased resources, possibly leading to long-term memory leaks. For example, if you use a Python script to compute parameters for a database query, do not call a zsql method from the script. Instead, return the parameters to the calling dtml document and call the zsql method from the document instead. Cheers, Tom P

Where to start using CMF?

Hi, can anyone help me how to start customizing CMF. I must say, I don't really like its design. So, I'm looking for customizing the whole design and plucking essential components inside, such as discussion, news, etc. But it is quite confusing on how each components work together in CMF. There are also different portal types. I know I need to start in "portal_skins". But after I customize the first page and click on "news", the design changes totally. Python script and proxy roles

Hi I have problems when I try to run a script with proxy roles as Manager. It's working just fine when I am a Manager but when I log in as a member it will not work. Is the proxy roles just work in that folder? I use zope 2.5.1, CMF 1.3 and Plone 1.0a1. The script is copying a folder in a parent folder. Where to store global Property - Incremental ID / Counter

Newbie looking for sage wisdom on Creating Sequentially Id'ed objects. I have a ZClass, instances of which will be created in a single Folder, not throughout the ZopeObject heirarchy. When creating a new instance, I would like to assign the id in sequential fashion, similar to take-a-number queing at the Deli counter. . . . now serving number 1023 I see two ways of doing this: a) have the add method query the folder and find the highest numbered id ZclassIntanceObject, add one to that value and make that the id of the next ZClass instance. b) Create a 'global' property - lastnumberused. Have the add method query this property and ... Which is the better method via Zope? a) which requires calculations max( container.objectItems() ) - considering there may be thousands of Zclass instances in this folder. b) a property where to put it - on the container of the instances, or on the parent ZClass? garbage collection - (I've heard something about zope creating but not disposing of instances each time a property is updated - a la FScounter - but have no background to discern if this problem applies to my situation) Suggestions?

PropertySheet, selection, and values ...

Hello ! I'm having a problem with the "selection" type in a PropertySheet of a zClass i'd like the selection to do something like : <option value="xxx">BLABLA YYY</option> but i can't make it work it keeps writing : <option>BLABLA YYY</option> the value is returned by a script, and i tried to return a dictionari instead of a list but it doesn't work (keyError : 0) ... is there any solution ? CMF: SMTPRecipientsRefused

While trying to use the "I've forgotten my password" page, it generates this error, SMTPRecipientsRefused Other mail from the system, using the same mailhost works just fine. I've checked to make sure that the portal has a top level property for email_from_address and it does. I see a connection to the mail server in the maillog. I *am* using an exUserFolder pointed at a postgresql database. Any ideas about. -- Bryan C.
