PropertyFolder and PropertyObject in Zope 2.5.1

Hi all, I just developed an application on a Zope 2.6 machine with PropertyObject and PropertyFolders - and exported it to 2.5.1 machine. I noticed that strangely enough on 2.5.1 PropertyObject's behaviour changed. If I had in object object_type and a page template of same name, Zope did not call the pagetemplate to show the object - which was the behaviour in Zope 2.6. Tested on both windows and linux 2.6 - and on Linux 2.5.1. Versions of PropertyObject / Folder are 1.2.1 Does anyone have an idea on what is causing this? -huima

moving users

I need to move all the users in an acl_users folder at a point in my folder structure into the acl_users folder further up, while still preserving the users there. How can I do this? There doesn't seem to be a way to cut and paste users between folders in the ZMI, so I'll have to write a script to do this. Looking at the userFolder API, I would have to read all the users in the source folder with getUsers(), then use userFolderAddUser with all the parameters to create the users in the destination folder. But I would need access to the password in order to create the users, which the user object doesn't give me. Can anyone think of a way to do this? TIA

Hi! I'm new to Zope and Phyton and I need to do this thing, I need to search a directory(and its subdirectories) for the latest file added. I was thinking of having a python script to do this and would return the link and name of the file. Can anyone help me on how to do this? Your help would be greatly appreciated. ImplicitAcquirerWrapper Error

Hi; I'm trying to write a script and have this code: folder = context.objectValues('Folder') return len(folder) When there are no folders in said folder, the answer comes back *0* (as one would expect). However, when I put a folder in there, I get this: TypeError: cannot add type "ImplicitAcquirerWrapper" to string What have I done wrong? Also, I would actually like to count the number of DTMLMethods. To what do I change the first line of code? Thank you for your patience and help, beno

Cost estimation for developing a Framework or CMS

Good evening! This has nothing to do with Zope directly, but I'm in the hope one of you might know a source for an estimation of the costs (some kind of study or report; manhours/days/months as unit would be fine) for implementing a Web Application Framework (like Zope, or something of a smaller scale) or a CMS. Are there some figures of this kind available for Zope, too? I need this for stuffing my thesis a bit with numbers... Thanks! Martin

Solution for 'in requires character as left operand' error

(It took me a while to figure this out, so I submit it to the list for future Googlers. This was experienced on Zope 2.6.) If you are getting an error in Zope that looks like this: 'in ' requires character as left operand ...then perhaps your problem is like mine. The error occurred after I would add an object (using a Zope Product 'addForm') in which I would select only one single choice from a 'multiple field'. If I later tried to access the object's properties via its Properties view method 'propertysheets/myProps/manage', I would get the above error. (In my case, the multiple field appeared on my home-made addForm as a number of check boxes. Each checkbox represented an item from those in a multiple selection property created for my Product's Zclass.) When only a single item was selected in the multiple field, it was converted into a Python STRING, e.g. 'Music' when what I really wanted was a "singleton" Python LIST, e.g. ['Music'] Figuring this out was the hard part. Fixing it was easy: Zope provides a simple 'argument conversion' facility. Adding ':list' to the addForm HTML form ensures that the multiple field value(s) will always be treated as a Python list, even if the multiple field only had a single value. To illustrate the fix (similar to the one I made in my 'addForm' HTML), assume the line with the problem property was: <input type="checkbox" name="choices" value="choice_one" /> Change it to the following, which - via ':list' - ensures the Zope argument conversion of 'choices' so that it is always a list: <input type="checkbox" name="choices:list" value="choice_one" /> For more information on such Zope argument conversion, see: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZDG/current/ObjectPublishing.stx/ Good luck! Hi, have you put a title in your ZPT? Or only the id? If you want the title or the id you have to say "template/title_or_id" or "here/title_or_id".
