Mistery login problem

Hi everyone, this is my first time on the list and i'm quite a newbie on zope, but i have a task of moving a plone site from one server to an other. this is done after an attack on the main server. i install zope i install CFM i install plone run zope and everything works great! i can create plone sites and manage them (enter to the ZMI at the root of my site) i install the extra products and put the database in. now, i can see my sites and all their content :) but if i enter http://mydomain/MySite/manage i get the sites login screen. because of the nature of the attack on the server, i had to remove all the user accounts, and just leave one user, me. in the database there are 2 plone sites, but i need to add a site root too both of them for the images to work with the apache rewrite rules how do i get access to the sites? i have manage and owner roles in the root zope site! the properties are all set right (i think) in the security section at the root of zope. and an other very weird thing is that i get a strange error when i try to make a new superuser! -- [root@mypc Zope-2.6.2-linux2-x86]# python zpasswd.py -u admin -p test inituser Traceback (innermost last): File "zpasswd.py", line 200, in ? if __name__=='__main__': main(sys.argv) File "zpasswd.py", line 152, in main access_file.write(username + ':' + File "zpasswd.py", line 33, in generate_passwd encoding=encoding.upper() AttributeError: 'string' object has no attribute 'upper' -- and i get the same thing with -- python zpasswd.py -u admin -p test access -- i am just totaly stumpt by this, and would really appreciate any hinters thanks for your time and have a nice day Tim Fletcher _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

help external method and security issue

Hello, We are using a Python External Method to send a "post" request to a dtml-method in python using the httplib library. Have the Zope with scripts module ?

Hello ! I be used to modular programming. Units/Modules/Classes. In Zope can I create a module with some functions ? How can I do it ? Or I need to be create Product for this ? How ? Without softlimit zope seems to try to grab a lot of memory untill all the threads have started and then the memory usage drops down back to what is normal. Database is aroung 600 MB, which is nothing bad since on another instance on another machine I run 2.6.2 with Pyhon 2.2.3 and 1,5 GB filestorage and in startup zope doesn't behave in similar way. I tried to search yesterday for information on how much Zope should be reserving and using memory in startup, but did not find any relevant information. LocalFS Question

Hello. I have a folder that I have created at the root level and inside this folder I have placed one Local File System object. The Local File System object contains two File objects. When I view the Local File System object by clicking on the 'View' option provided by the management interface, I can see that it contains two File objects. What I would like to do is to change the way that these File objects are displayed. Specifically, I would like to show only certain attributes that these File objects have and hide others. Right now, the following attributes are shown: type, icon, size, and last modified time(mtime). I would like to hide the size and last modified time(mtime) attributes. I want these attributes to be set but I do not want their values to show. FYI, I am using the Local File System Product. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

any design patterns in building zope apps?

hi everyone, I worked with J2EE currently, and interested to find out more abt building enterprise web applications with zope. In J2EE, there is a recommended set of Design Patterns for each tier, such as FrontController, Business Delegate, Service Locator and DataAccessObjects. Is there such collection of 'patterns' being recommended for zope apps? >From what I understand, Zope does encourage MVC framework by separating presentation, biz and data logic, e.g. PageTemplates, Products/ExternalMethods and ZSQL Methods(correct me if I'm wrong). Can we use PageTemplates in the form of Controller/DispatchView pattern? Can Products be used in BusinessDelegate/ SessionFacade type of pattern? Binding MailHost to an IP

Hi all, I have a box with multiple IP addresses that I use to support some internal development work. When using MailHost to send mail through an external mail server, I would like to have the mail "come from" one of the IP addresses in particular. It appears that the MailHost object is binding to the primary interface (eth0) instead of eth0:1, eth0:2, etc. Is there a way that I can specify a source address for the email? Thanks, Kevin

Downloading Result Files.... ?

Hello all! I'm a relatively new developer with Zope/Python and have very little experience with DTML to date. My application is a search mechanism which returns a list of files into a select box for use to display the contents of each file. I want to be able to add a second button which allows the user to save ALL of the resulting files to a user specified local folder. I'm currently propogating the select list as; <select name = dstring size = 20 > <dtml-in "execsearch(REQUEST)" > <option value="<dtml-var name="sequence-item">"> <dtml-var name="sequence-item"> </option> </dtml-in> </select> I have been searching all over the net for a solution to this problem, but can not find anything as yet. Zope FS FTP question

Hello ! I have many scripts. In yesterday my Zope is crashed, and I to become acquainted with Zope FTP. I use the Zope's HTML editor before, but it is very ugly sometimes. So I planned to I editing in FTP. But my Context Editor is know the file type by extension. If I rename the scripts to NN.py from NN, the calling of scripts is unavailable. See this: When script named x <html> <p tal:replace="python: here.x()"></p> </html> When script named x.py <html> <p tal:replace="python: here.x.py()"></p> </html> But it is drop an error. ZOPE Newbie anonymous access problem

I have a semi-urgent problem. Set up a VHM Monster mapped to url www.foo.com:8080/foo also edited host file (running XP) 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.0.1 www.foo.com The Problem: when I run the address www.foo.com I am required to submit a user name and password, I have created both a super user (owner) and a separate (manager) account and neither work I have tried 1/ modifying the ownership for the foo folder (this is slighlty confusing as there as so many permissions but I am 'assuming' only view is needed..) 2/ creating the foo folder as a manager as oposed to super user, I read this might make a difference 3/ slapping my face repeatedly Would appreciate some sage advice
