Hi! my data.fs is growing too fast. I just insert some object at day, edit scripts... and it grows from 50MB to 400MB in two weeks! how can I solve it other than pack daily? what should I look for? thanks :)

Zope not starting properly under softlimit: Internal server error

I'm witnessing very strange behaviour on one box and was asked to help. On the box is running a zope cmf-site that refuses to start if softlimit is set, even though the softlimit would be set quite high. This is extremely strange since the service itself ( afaik from the people who manage it ) doesn't want to hog large amounts of memory or when running consume lots of it. If softlimit is set on the startscript then zope does start, but produces only 'internal server error' message to requests. Any help would be appreciated. starting zope in bsd

the more I think I know the less I really do.. sorry about this but I've confused myself I want to run zope as user www. so in the start script I use "-u www". If I am root and run ./start & zope barfs on me and gives me the message that I need to read the setuid.txt file... okay. (I chowned all zope files to www:www) But I don't want to run zope as root, and zope won't listen on port 80.. so, back to running zope as user www. I can su to user www, run zope and all is well. terrific. Now I want to put a startup script in /usr/local/etc/rc.d. So now I'm back to starting zope as root again right? How can I get the startup scripts to launch zope as user 'www'? Apache URhell (revisited)

Thanks to those that responded off-list to my original query, but I'm still having no joy whatsoever in getting Zope to properly handle requests proxied to it from Apache. My Apache configuration is: <VirtualHost 10.0.0.2> ServerName www.test.com ServerAlias test.com RewriteEngine On RewriteLog "/var/log/httpd/rewrite_log" RewriteLogLevel 9 RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/test.com:80/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [L,P] </VirtualHost> (RewriteRule directive shown wrapped over three lines.) test.com is defined as a zone on my local name server pointing to 10.0.0.2. I have a VirtualHostMonster in the Zope's root folder with no mappings defined there. Also in the root folder is a folder "test.com" with the default DTML document index_html. When a request is made to www.test.com, Zope intercepts it but displays the (acquired?) content from the root folder's index_html. Snippets from the error_log show this: TraversalRequestNameStack [] VirtualRootPhysicalPath ('',) URL 'http://test.com:8080/%241' SERVER_URL 'http://test.com:8080' URL0 http://test.com:8080/%241 URL1 http://test.com:8080 BASE0 http://test.com:8080 BASE1 http://test.com:8080 BASE2 http://test.com:8080/%241 (No idea what the %241 implies, but it's there in the error log) PATH_INFO '/VirtualHostBase/http/test.com:8080/VirtualHostRoot/$1' HTTP_HOST '127.0.0.1:8080' REQUEST_METHOD 'GET' PATH_TRANSLATED '/VirtualHostBase/http/test.com:8080/VirtualHostRoot/$1' The "/$1" on the end of PATH_INFO and PATH_TRANSLATED would suggest to my naive eyes that Zope isn't properly mapping the URL to a local resource, but that's just conjecture on my part. VirtualRootPhysicalPath also looks a little suspect. If I make an explicit request for http://10.0.0.2:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/test.com:80/VirtualHostRoot/ (as suggested by an off-list response), then again, the root folder's index_html is returned, not that of test.com. Requests to 127.0.0.1 as opposed to 10.0.0.2 generate the same result. Muchos kudos to anyone who can shed some light! mh

Zope import PythonScript.standard unauthorized

Hi, I've just insalled Zope to test a web application by thirdy part .... well .... it's very embarrassing cause I'm not able to see it to work because of Zope ..... (yeah... I'm really newbie :( ) I found out that the problem is in Products/PythonScript permission. To test them, in the ZMI, I created this script and then I tested it ============================================== TEST SCRIPT ============================================== # Example code: from Products.PythonScripts.standard import html_quote, urlencode return 1 ============================================== TEST OUTPUT ============================================== Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: ImportError Error Value: import of "urlencode" from "Products.PythonScripts.standard" is unauthorized In Zope Bible they say there is a trick to escape this control using "External Methods", but it should be another way because the application I have to test doesn't use them at all ... any useful suggestion ..........? I'm using on Debian Woody Zope = Zope 2.5.1 Python= 2.1.3 Thank you very Lucas

hi, i was wondering if anyone has/knows of a master list of built-in variables. we all know of the basic ones like 'id' or 'title' or 'absolute_url', but i'm sure there are some more obscure ones out there that could help all of us. -jason yee

dynamically generate dtml-tree urlparam attribute?

hi, i was wondering if anyone has either hacked the dtml-tree code or written a python script to create a <dtml-tree> tag with a dynamically generated urlparam attribute? i currently have a <dtml-if/elif/else> that selects from 7 prewritten <dtml-tree> tags, but i was hoping there was a better/slightly more elegant way of doing this. -jason yee

Help on identification

I've tried looking through all the available user folder types and I'm still not sure I understand which one is best for me. Here is my situation: I'm trying to setup a Zope server on our corporate intRAnet set. We have a formal system of authenticating users. It is centralized. I don't want to go into too much detail, but suffice it to say that I can invoke a program and it will tell me whether the person requesting my page has a valid certificate and, if so, who the person is. What is the best scheme for integrating such a program into the Zope authentication and identification process. Key things are: 1) The user does not provide a password, only the validity of the certificate is checked. 2) How do I invoke an external program from Zope?!? 3) Are there any "out-of-the-box" user folders that can handle this? I couldn't find any. If not, what is the best open ended product and what would I need to do? Thanks for any help. -- Mike
