Hi, can you give us an explanation in order to trace URL logs in Zope on linux debian ? We'd like to retrieve the percentage of utilization of our different web sites. Hi, i've installed 0.7 and the output is great! I've converted the mxTidy rpm to debs, i can post them somewhere if there's interest. I have a problem with longer tables on latest mozilla firebird (linux) snapshot. I have a table with about 70 rows and 14 colums. It's valid xhtml, i ran it through tidy --asxhtml and validated using the w3c checker. When i try to edit the table it loads fine, but whenever it switches to html source (manually or on save) it cuts off anything below the sixth row. Without looking at the code i would guess it has something to do with some conversion/checking/indenting going on with a variable that can't handle the amount of data or a timeout (firebird is not very fast in js). In IE 6.0 it works fine, haven't checked IE 5.5 yet. Any ideas? I'm not shure if this is unique to 0.7, it didn't catch me before, though. Cheers Gabriel

Epoz 0.7.1 released - critical bug fix for 0.7.0

Hi to all, I've just released Epoz 0.7.1 - a critical bug fix for all people who installed Epoz 0.7.0 (the XHTML-release of Epoz). What is Epoz? Epoz is a cross-browser-wysiwyg-editor for Zope and Plone. It works out of the box with InternetExplorer >= 5.5, Mozilla >= 1.3, Firebird >= 0.7 and other "Gecko"-based browsers with a recent engine. Is Epoz now XHTML-compatible? Yes, it is. It uses the mxTidy-module (download http://www.lemburg.com/files/python/mxTidy.html) over XMLRPC to transform the HTML to XHTML on the fly. There was a severe bug in the 3.party-vcXMLRPC-modul which resulted in Mozilla truncating the XHTML to 4096 characters, so please upgrade if you installed Epoz 0.7.0 or data may be lost. Useful if you want to clean up or rewrite (absolute) links etc.pp. - added missing language support for Plone. 0.7.1 - fixed critical bug: Mozilla truncated contents to 4096 bytes received from EpozTidy over XMLRPC due to a bug in the string-code of the vcXMLRPC-library. - fixed critical bug: if mxTidy found errors in html, an empty document was returned to Epoz. JavaScript-alert informs the user about critical errors in document. And what is this thing with Epoz 0.x and Epoz 1.x? There's an ongoing effort on http://sf.net/projects/epoz to develop a next generation of Epoz (1.x), based on new ideas and on a new design. Guido Wesdorp, Philipp von Weitershausen and Paul Everitt have done a great job working on Epoz (1.x). The developement of the original Epoz (0.x) will continue because I run several applications which I can't easily update to Epoz (1.x) in the near future. Display Plone Topic in body of page

My aim is to show a list of links to recently added content, such as news items, pdf's, msword docs etc. on my sites home page. However, I do not want every recently added content item listed, only selected content. In my limited experience it occurs to me that a Plone 'Topic' is the correct tool to employ. Therefore, I've created a Topic called 'update' which searches on the keyword (added to selected content items) 'update'. The Topic works fine when logged into Plone and clicking on the topic name to view all the links it collects. However, I want to show the result of the Topic in the body of my index_html page to all anonymous users. I am not sure if I should do this using Plone's edit page tool, or by using ZMI to edit the template 'index_html' itself. I get the impression that it could be done either way, but I'd appreciate any advice on best practice in this regard. An actual code example would be very appreciated as I am new to Plone/Zope/TAL and Python. Many thanks. date formatting question

This is silly but in the ZPT I'm working on I can't get the bobobase modification time to format in a non-ugly fashion I tried : <a tal:attributes="href item/absolute_url" tal:content="item/bobobase_modification_time" fmt=aCommon> title</a> but it pretty much ignores the formatting suggestion. Spent an evening and few hours more learning how to install Oracle and DCOracle2 on linux to be used with Zope. Distribution that I am using is Fedora core 1. I Downloaded Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 and followed excellent instructions on page: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-9i-RH8-and-RH9-HOWTO-1.html Following step by step the installation went just swimmingly. I downloaded DCOracle2 from zope.org: http://www.zope.org/Members/matt/dco2/ While doing make ( see INSTALL ) make sure that you have ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH set, and that you have sufficient rights to those shared libraries. Set those enviroment variables also to zope start-script, or otherwise your zope startup will fail when DCOracle tries to import those libs. Just an example I had to add these to my zope startup-script: ORACLE_BASE=/home/oracle/ ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/product/9.2.0.1.0 ORACLE_SID=portaali LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$ORACLE_HOME/network/lib export ORACLE_BASE ORACLE_HOME ORACLE_SID LD_LIBRARY_PATH And now it works. -- -huima

Version Control in CMF/Plone?

A feature I mis in Zope/CMF/Plone is version control of documents. With this I mean for example that authors can (minimally) view and revert to previous versions of documents. This as opposed to the back-end Revision Manager product which allows versioning of Zope objects in CVS. I've found a reference to a project to integrate version control in Zope. http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ZopeVersionControl/FrontPage. Is it known what the status is of this endavour? Security?

Maybe I'm taking the wrong approach. I'm using an external Python module because I'm the most comfortable with programming in a computer language. The module itself is fairly complex because it needs to pull in multiple lines of SQL data and then match them together. For example, it puts current year, prior year, and plan data together into one line. The line order is defined in another table. I don't think I could do it using just ZPT or DTML. I could do this with a Python script except that from the examples it looks like they're more procedural and don't work with Python classes. I guess I could do that but I'm hesitant to give up OOP.
