Installing Perl in Zope Platform

Hi, I'm trying to install pyperl and zoperl in my Zope platform (Zope 2.6.2 & CMF 1.3.3 & Plone 1.0.5 & Python 2.1.3), but I've red in zoperl-1.0.beta5 intall.txt file, that this version can be installed only with Python 1.5.2. I' wonder if zoperl1.0.beta5 is the last version, I couldn't find a newer one. It would be great if there were a newer version as there won't be necessary to install other Python version, and to install Python_Distutils-1.0.2 package (as I've read it comes all together with Python 2.1.3) I will be thanked if you can give me some suggestions. calling another products methods

Greetings: As the subject indicates I am working with a product(P1) and I would like to call the methods of a different product(P2) from with in the first. When I try from P@ import method I get an error. How do I get P2 to into the namespace of P1 or at least into the global namespace. thanks very much -matthew

ssl zope http/https

I'm using zope 2.6.2 and m2crypto and it works great. (Thanks to the writers of the excellent products and packages.) But I would like to be able to set some pages/folders as secure (https) and others as plain (http). I've installed SSLAbsoluteURL but it seems to demand that I use links of a certain format: can't use: (end brackets removed for html email readers) A HREF="/Services/Support/Zope">Zope Support</A but rather must use: A HREF="<dtml-var "Services.Support.Zope" url>">Zope Support</A A HREF="<dtml-var "Zope" url>">Zope Support</A or this: A HREF="&dtml.url-Zope;">Zope Support</A I have several important questions about this. 1. Is my understanding correct? 2. Is there another way to set the links (or better--the pages and folders) to be ssl besides the greatly appreciated but apparently somewhat limited SSLAbsoluteURL format or manually changing each of the links? All of my links are in the format: a href="/root/somewhere/index_html">foo</a and don't find https and I'd rather not change them all if I can help it. 3. If I remove the 's' from 'https' after following one of my encrypted links I can still get the page unencrypted (i.e.http://...). Is there any way to stop this? It seems to defeat the purpose of encryption. Thanks for your help. joshua

Q1: tal + image

Hello ! My friend is say to I don't use dtml - I must use Page Template... Ok, I say, and I try it. I have an logo image, named logo. When I use dtml, the <dtml-var logo> is working. But: when I use <p tal: replace here/logo></p>, then the zope replace the <> signs in image definition, and it is don't showed, only it's description. Why ? refferencing a url from a script

Greetings again: I was wondering how you refference a url from a python script either as a redierect or as a way of POSTing data. That is to say in one instance I want the page the user is view to be redierected to some url and in the second instance I just want to POST some data something like url/post_method?TRUE=1. Apache ReWrite rule

Is it possible to set up Apache (version 2) using rewrite rules to pass everything to zope, except the URLs started with, say, /phpMyAdmin.*? I would really appreciate any help you could provide. bz

Security?

Thanks Dylan, Derek, Peter & Tim for your help on how to access URL parameter and on the best approach to take on my project. It helped a lot! I was able to call my routine, pass the parameters to it, and get a result back. I felt like I was almost there...then I hit a snag. I had a routine that was producing an HTML representation of my Income Statement. I worked it over so that it just returned the data in a list of line objects. When I hooked that into Zope and tried to run it, I got the Zope Logon screen. I traced it down to my use of the mx.ODBC module that I'm using to pull in the data. If I take it out, I no longer get the login screen. I figured that executing an external module was not allowed under my (only) login so I set about the task of finding where to change the permissions to allow my module to execute. I haven't been able to figure it out! I know that somewhere, there's a place where you can tell Zope that your module is safe but nothing I tired worked. The Zope Book talks about "executable content". I went to the security settings of my IncomeStatementScript object but I didn't see any permissions related to allowing modules to execute. In /Control_Panel/Products/PythonScripts on the README tab, it describes a method of adding an __init__.py module to a folder in the package directory with and example of "allow_module(base64) allow_module(re) allow_module(DateTime.DateTime)". I tried moving my object to a folder in packages and adding the __init__.py file with "allow_module(ISLines)" but it choked on the allow_module routine. I tried various things to get allow_module to work but nothing did. I'm thinking that maybe it's an older way of doing things that doesn't work anymore. I found a big list of permissions on the DEFINE PERMISSIONS tab of /Control_Panel/Products/PythonScripts. That is a bizarre screen! It has a list of object permissions followed by combo boxes each of which is set to disabled. I intuitively thought that you would set the permission from disabled to enabled if you wanted to activate it. Nope. If you pull down the combo box, you see the entire list of permissions. I'm not getting that screen at all. What would happen if you set the "Access Transient Objects" box from "(disabled)" to "Add RAM Cache Managers"? I tried making my module an external method but it also choked on the import mx.ODBC line. As a side question, the external method asks for a routine and function name. I'm trying to execute a class. It has functions in it but it's not a single function. Are external modules ONLY for specific functions? Do they work with Python classes at all? I tend to get wordy so I guess the simplest question is how do I get Zope to allow me to execute my ISLines.py module?
