How do I integrate zope with apache

Hey there, I'm using linux 8.0 with KDE Desktop. I've got zope running on a medusa server at the moment, the one it came with. I've also got an apache server running and I was wondering how I can integrate the zope interface to be used with my linux apache server. I'm a total linux nub so go easy on me . ~Mosquito

Hello everyone, I'm new to LINUX, ZOPE, PYTHON, and this mailing list. I have a ZOPE server running on Linux and I'm trying to get my forums to work. They require PHP and mySQL both of which I have but I'm not sure how to install them into my ZOPE server. Any suggestions? ~Mosquito

Having problem with accessing zclass property sheets

Hi, I have a zclass with 2 property sheets named public and private, for which I am creating instances through DTML method using the following lines: <dtml-with "manage_addProduct[ 'xxxxx' ]"> <dtml-call "Newcommit.createInObjectManager(REQUEST[ 'id' ], REQUEST )"> I am able to create an instance with the above lines. I would like to view property sheet of that particular instance immediatly so that the users can enter the properties while creating the instance. So I tried the change properties using the following line under the <dtml-with> tag: <dtml-call "propertysheets.public.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> But it gives me an error saying Error Type: Attribute error Error Value: Public Here public is the name of the property sheet. For the Zclass I did install a view with name edit and method as propertysheets.public.manage Where am I making a mistake? Zope Win32 service (was RE: [Zope] Binary Compatibility)

Lukas, It doesn't appear to be the case if you're running Zope under Windows. Uninstalling Zope-2.5.1 doesn't remove the Zope service, and when you install 2.6.0 the Zope service pointing to $INSTANCE_HOME/bin/lib/win32/pythonservice.exe no longer functions. Is there a workaround for this? (ie, a way to uninstall and reinstall the service). I've seen this happen on 3 zope machines, so it's reproducible. Toby is right about using the Catalog, I think (or some other form of indexing). The ObjectManager methods are not going to scale well because: 1 - An ObjectManager/Folder has no way of batching small sets of the large store. a. BTreeFolder 2 can batch, but only in its default sort (see 2) 2 - An ObjectManager/Folder has no way of sorting, unless you do it after the fact in presentation logic (slow/bloated). You should likely be using the catalog, and create a string-based FieldIndex containing the absolute physical path of the folder, and indexes for all the fields you might sort on. Batching with a Catalog query should just be a matter of getting a slice of the returned list of Brain objects. You can write a wrapper around this that will just get the objects those Brains refer to anyway, since it is likely your application will need them. What I might suggest is writing a simple product that creates a Catalog-backed folder: it effeciently returns sorted slices of all or a subset of objects in the folder, encapsulating access to the Catalog, and creating your own API for a slightly smarter folder. So you would be adding some smart methods on top of the existing dumb methods in the ObjectManager interface that the folder already exposes. Then, each folder can have its own Catalog specifically to act as a sorting engine, and its own batching code that uses the sorting engine. I'm not sure what the performance implications of this are for your application on write (yet another Catalog to write to), but the implications on read performance should improve, given what your application does. Note: supposedly, there are eventually going to be improvements to the ZCatalog sorting code (in Zope 2.7) that will improve its performance in general by some great degree. Simply put, are Zope folderish objects including BTreeFolderish objects **not** designed to hold this many objects? Well, if so, I'll just rewrite NeoBoard to use MySQL again. POSKeyError II: Dead By Dawn

They're baaaaaaack.... after a recent thread on Zope "Goblins" I decided to try the fstest.py script and see what it had to tell me. Sadly it found errors in my Data.fs on our development server. Lots of work has been done in that server recently; worried about losing data, I copied the Data.fs (plain old unix cp command) and ran fsrecover.py on the copy to see what it finds. I tee'd the output of fsrecover.py (stdout & stderr) to a file and I'm glad I did, because I've never seen anything this bad. Grepping through the fsrecover output reveals: 12527 total occurrences of "Error" 11397 "bad transaction length" errors 719 "invalid transaction length" errors 193 "POSKeyError" 75 *unique* POSKeyErrors (filtered through uniq) (so it's not just one bad oid) Ow. Ow. Ow. This is very odd considering that we have not noticed any problems at all from this zope installation! Oh yeah - specs: Zope 2.5.1 Python 2.1.3 built from source w/ largefile support ZEO RedHat Linux 2.4.7-10 SMP ZODB is over 2 GB, but the large size is not the problem - it was up to 2.5 at one point, and we haven't changed Python or the kernel since then, so it should be OK. (double-checking ... yes, test_largefile.py runs fine.) The really fun thing about POSKeyErrors in particular is that I know of no way to find out what zope id the broken oid once belonged to. Is there any way? Tried starting up with the recovered Data.fs and discovered that it seems "fine" except that most of our recent work is gone. :( I tried mounting a copy of the backup with another Zope instance, exporting the recent stuff, and importing it into the zope running the "repaired" Data.fs, but every time I tried to do that I got POSKeyErrors. (!) The repaired Data.fs passes fstest.py with no errors, so I think somehow the exports from the backup bring the POSKeyErrors with them. It's like a virus!!! (well, not really. the import just fails... the repaired Data.fs still passes fstest.py.) At this point I think I'm going to go back to the backup, errors and all... it may have tons of errors in it, but it has all of our work and seems to behave OK. :-\ Hmmmmm, I notice DirectoryStorage is now at 1.0.0. Does anyone know of a good module/product/hack that I can feed a date to and it will let me know if it's valid or not? It should check leap years ... end days of the month and the like...
