Testing security in a debug session?

how do I test as a particular user in a debug session? things like has_permission are failing because getSecurityManager().getUser() returns 'Anonymous User'. Here's the application: We have Zope and Plone installed and working for some months. We also installed BackTalk and CMFBackTalk in order to publish docs with inline comments in Plone. Works but there must be a better way. Let me explain: We create our documents in OpenOffice (OO) and then cut and paste them into stx docs. This works fine. However to use stx you have to indent each heading/content level. I can do this in a paragraph indent scenario like this with a BackTalk comment example: -------- This is a Heading This paragraph has the first line indented but all of the other lines will wrap over to start flush with the margine. This is how it should work so that I can cut my content after commenting and paste in back in my OO doc. It also turns 'This is a Heading' into a heading. I can continue with first line indents in order to generate different heading levels.<p> % this is a comment -------- When I do this, first of all I don't get a comment icon unless I break the rules (i.e. no inline html) and enter a <p> at the end of the paragraph where I want it. However this creates another problem. Once the comment is entered, since it is indented it makes the paragraph above it a heading. It also removes the comment icon once a comment is entered. However if I do this: ------------ This is a Heading The paragraph following is created by indenting the entire paragraph / and having to enter CR's at the end of each line. Boy this makes it a pain to enter the text into word processor afterwards. % the comment is indented again but doesn't turn the above paragraph into a heading ----------- This works. The paragraph above the comment doesn't become a heading and the comment icon remains meaning I can enter as many comments for one paragraph as I like. This really sucks when I want to paste it back into OO. What am I doing wrong? Is our process wrong? i.e. "create doc in OO -> copy to stx -> comment with BackTalk --> copy back to OO for formatting and delivery to client as .doc" Thanks. - Asad

Updating Zope source index

I have a catalog I have created to index my source for a Zope application. Because it is source, it cannot be automatically updated. I have looked at all the options for the catalog and I am stumped as to how to update the catalog manually without having to go and re-select all the options. HELP needed to build image macro for documents

I'm new to Zope/Plone, but it looks to be a great product for my needs on a web project. I have not built custom pages in Zope (yet) and was hoping some people could help me get started. My question: I'm creating documents and want to add images into the documents. I could just create an image tag, but I want to take advantage of Zope/Plone and what it can do. I understand the concept that everything in Plone is a object. As a result everything can have a Title and Description. This "Description" is what I want to take advantage of. I'm adding images and putting text in the description area that I later want to appear as a caption under the image. I would like to figure out some simple DHTML(Python, ZPT, or other code) code that I could use in my documents to reference the image and get back the image with description. This small amount of Python/DHTML would need to build a build a html table around the image, then in second cell under image insert the text from image's description field (if description not blank). My problem is that I don't understand enough of Zope/Plone to figure out the best method of creating this insert code. I had thought that the tag would act like a sub-routine call which would pass the image name requested to some larger piece of code which would query Zope/Plone for the image and description, build the html table code I wanted, then return all this back to the Document that called it. The end user of course doesn't see more than the HTML used to generate the page. I'll try to answer some questions before they are asked. The documents are just almost plain text pages. They have some html to bold words or make paragraph headings, but no really fancy html. I was thinking that I could make a macro in the header or some page always called when you view a document. This way I could put only a small tag into the Document that would reference a macro. This small tag would pass the macro an image name(ID) and whether to put on right of left side of page. locked out of zmi

Hello again I was working in the zmi trying to create a new user and i was just plyaing around with some of the options. The last thing i remember doing was pressing the encrypt all passwords button and saving the changes. Then i logged out and tried to log back in with the new user that i had just created, but it wont let me. I have tried to log in with all my other existing users but i am simply locked out. I am running zope on windows and not sure how to create an emergency user if thats what i have to do at all.
