Hi, I run into the same problem that has been reported last year: Author:Jan Idzikowski Date: 04/24/2002 10:50 AM View: [Zope] Problems with AIX4 There never was an answer from anybody. I installed Python 2.1.3 and Zope-2.6.1 on AIX4.3.3 and I run into exactly the same scenario as Jan. ZServer starts up OK and I can login and bring up the control panel. I can also add folders. When I try to access /Examples or when I try to add the ZopeTutorial, Zope core dumps. When I run with the dbx debugger, I see that the runtime stack is busted. Usually with AIX there tend to be problem with shared libs. That doesn't seem to be the case here as I can successfully run all unit tests "testrunner.py". Is there anybody out there who was able to circumvent this problem? What would people suggest is a good way to debug this? Thanks! That should only happen if you upgrade from 2.5.x or import an 2.5.x exported mailhost. For some reason, the port number was changed from an int to a string in 2.5.1, and this got reverted in 2.6.0 without anybody noticing.:) In 2.6.1 it should be an integer, but will not fail if it is a string.

Roles and LDAP

Hi all: Anybody knows how to store roles in a LDAP server? i.e. I want to specify in a record in a LDAP server all the methods a Role can use... I want to store all user/roles information in a LDAP database... I this posible? Thanks

Why initializeBasesPhase1 and 2

I noticed that in some products' __init__.py module there's a call to initializeBasesPhase1 and 2 to register a base class as a Zclass. That's true in CMFCore, CMFDefault, CMFPlone for example and not in DCWorkflow and Localizer. in newer cases, createZClassForBase is used instead. So, why is it necessary to register a Zclass for some products and not for others ? TIA -- Andre PZP Enthusiast

Mailhost strangeness

At seeming random times, a Mailhost object becomes corrupted and does not allow the sending of mail. I get an error that states "integer expected" -- see full traceback below. According to the source code it looks like the port number is becoming corrupted. To solve the problem, all I have to do is open the Mailhost object and save it. Strange. I am using Zope 2.6.0 with Python 2.1.3 and was wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior or has any ideas as to what could cause this. Creating a group of users

Hello. Does anyone know if it is possible to create a groups of users in Zope and then assign a role to the group that would then be inherited by its members? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on your operating system, but if it's UNIXlike, typically it's: download Python from http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.1.3/Python-2.1.3.tgz untar and ungz it cd to the directory that results run: CFLAGS='-D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64' OPT="-g -O2 $CFLAGS" ./configure --prefix=/some/directory/Python make make install Then change the Zope "start" script's "hash bang" line to point to /some/directory/Python/bin/python. User authentication and authorization
